Chelsea Football Club (also known as The Blues and The Pensioners) are a professional football club based in Fulham, London. Chelsea were founded on 10 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook) after Gus Mears had previously acquired the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium with the aim of turning it into a football ground. Since there was already a team named Fulham in the borough, the name of the adjacent borough, the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea, was settled on.

Chelsea's first major title success came in the form of the League Cup with the appointment of former Arsenal player, Ted Drake, who also led Chelsea to the their first ever League title, enabling them to compete in the European Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA, Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started - allowing Matt Busby's Manchester United to start their illustrious adventure with the competition.

After decades of being non-competitors, Chelsea returned to the domestic title fore in 2003 under new owner Roman Abramovich, who fueled an unprecedented spending spree - starting in the mid 2000s. Since the takeover, Chelsea have won 1 Champions League title, 5 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cup titles, 1 Europa League title, and 3 League Cup titles, among others. Chelsea's most prominent rivalries include local clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, title rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds United. Chelsea play their home games at Stamford Bridge - which had been their home for over a century.

Don't win this and we're done. We've been given so many opportunities to take top 4 and we constantly feck it up.

Need a win. We can still make top four.

    Sanchez Rashford
    Lingard
    Pogba Matic McTominay
    Shaw Lindelof Smalling Young
    De Gea

To be fair win this we’d have a great chance at top 4 given Arsenal’s form and our last 2. We surely have to beat somebody for fecks sake. 2-1 United.

No goals in 3 games now, 5 games since a goal from open play. I'm going to this one, so just scoring a goal would be nice.

We look completely shot and it’s yet another top half league team to play. At least after we get through this, we might have a chance of scoring past Cardiff and Huddersfield from open play.

Winning would require United to have actual service that leads to a shot on goal that could lead to a goal from open play. Not exactly a difficult concept however at the moment, it seems impossible to do.

In all seriousness, Sanchez has to play real minutes because he actually has the application, brains and talent to do something important in the final third. The only other players who have this in their locker currently are Pogba and sometimes Rashford.

Normally quite bullish at the prospect of Chelsea at home but our form is appalling, we can't shoot on goal. We'll need a penalty or own goal and luck of the gods to win this.

Chelsea are more shite then us tbh. Anyway think we'll win and win the 2 against relegated sides (or soon to be) after this game and then it's just waiting to see if Arsenal can get 7 points out of Leicester (A), Brighton and Burnley (A) among Europa League games.

Our confidence has taken a blow recently with the run of losses (after a huge run of wins), but at the same time, 3 of those losses have come to teams that are just miles ahead of us if we're being honest. The Everton game was awful and embarrassing, but it's also a game that is always tough and a draw there is usually about par, so while the performance was appalling, a loss wasn't exactly a huge shock (and they have a great record against the big teams). Wolves as well, they've been giant killers all season, especially at home. Arsenal away was a big game against a team around our level but away from home where we didn't take our chances and got punished. The main issue is that they've all happened one after the other, but on the flip side, we had a run of results in the opposite sense when we beat Spurs in a grind type of game, somehow knocking out PSG, beating Arsenal and Chelsea away in the FA Cup, etc... If you look at Ole's time here overall it's been one extreme to the other but pretty normal in balance. We'll see how the last 3 games go, but given the players at his disposal, the only performance/result from the past 2 months which was surprising was getting battered by Everton which shouldn't be happening.

Anyway, we need to just clear our heads and look at it like a clear slate for these last 3 games to try and make it.
    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera
    McTominay Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial
Herrera if fit obviously. Always performs vs Chelsea. 2-0 United win.

We'll do well to get anything here. We just don't like like scoring a goal and De Gea can no longer be relied upon to bail us out at the back.

    0-2.

Sarri charged. Would he be banned from the match? Could be better for them.

I think we'll win this one but we'd still need Chelsea to drop points again due to to their superior goal difference. Will be a big boost for both sets of players if Leicester beat Arsenal on Saturday.

I doubt we'd win this, but Chelsea seems to be just as shit at the moment.

    A dour 0-0?

    ---------------Romero
    Dalot----Smalling---Lindelof----Shaw
    -------Herrera---Mctominay--Pogba
    ------------------Mata----------------
    -----------Rashford-----Sanchez----

Bring back the man-marking job on Hazard - if we aren’t able to score any more then neither should they.

If we didn’t rush to give Ole the job, this match would have been a huge factor towards whether he gets the job or not. If we win this, I believe we can make top four.

    De Gea
    Dalot - Linderlof - Smalling - Shaw
    Fred
    Herrera - Pogba
    Sanchez
    Rashford -Martial

Where the feck is Herrera? There's actually no way he's been injured for this long? We have needed him badly these recent games.

    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera
    McTominay Pogba
    Alexis Rashford Martial

I’d trust Young, however shit he is, more than Dalot defensively. The youngster is just not switched on enough in defence. I also think Herrera is checked out and won’t play again it’s an injury crisis. McT in his place.

    The rest I agree with.

Maybe just maybe it's time to drop De Gea?

Don't get me wrong, I love David, he was perhaps our only world class player after Fergie retired and he was just as consistent, but his form dropped for the first time in years and we really can't make any mistakes with our fragile defence. Romero should start imo.

We're not finishing in the top four, that ship has sailed. Don't do this to yourselves. Let's just finish the season with some dignity but there's really no chance for us to get 4th.

Pretty much the game to determine 4th.

How? Even if we win we'll be behind them on GD. Then there are 2 more games left after. And this is without taking Arsenal into consideration who are still in a better position than us.

I feel sorry for the match going fans. Huge respect for being able to cheer these players on .

Because Chelsea have Watford and Leicester away left among EL semi finals while we have relegated sides. Wouldnt surprise me if they drop points in both.
Arsenal also have EL semi finals, but also have Leicester away and Burnley away. They either lose one or drop points in both and we get in.

It's not exactly asking for favors or unlikely scenarios. Everyone just plays as they have been all season for the last 3 games, with the slight exception of United winning this weekend (slight because Chelsea are woeful in tough away games and at Old Trafford), and we finish 4th this season.

United fans while being all dramatic about everything havent seemed to realize that Chelsea and Arsenal are equally woeful and inconsistent.

I think it's time to give Greenwood a start, we haven't scored a goal in open play for over ten hours, he can't do worse than the current bunch of forwards we are rotating in and out without any success. If McTominay is back I'd slot him in where I've got Andreas.
