Derby County Football Club (nicknamed The Rams - a tribute to its links with the First Regiment of Derby Militia), is an English professional football club based in Derby, Derbyshire, and playing in the Championship. Derby County Football Club was formed in 1884, as an offshoot of Derbyshire County Cricket Club. With the increasing popularity of football in the areas becoming apparent, William Morley, a bank clerk at the Midland Railway, and several other enthusiasts, saw the establishment of an associated football team as an opportunity to both generate extra revenue and give supporters a winter interest. They approached the Derbyshire FA, formed the previous year, proposing the name "Derbyshire County", to emphasize the connection to the cricket club. This was rejected as being too long, and the name "Derby County" was instead settled upon, with home games to be played at the County Ground.

Derby County enjoyed its greatest period of success following the appointment of Brian Clough as Clough and Taylor spent their first season at the club rebuilding but went on to win the Second Division title in 1968-69, going 22 matches unbeaten. After fourth and ninth-placed finishes in the First Division, Derby won the title in 1971-72. Derby finished seventh the following season but did reach the semi-finals of the European Cup, losing to Juventus. The campaign was, however, plagued by incidences of Clough falling out with the Rams' board - particularly the chairman, Sam Longson. Clough and Taylor eventually resigned in October 1973, with fans reacting by demanding the board step down instead so that the pair could be reinstated. Derby would eventually appoint Dave Mackay, one of Clough's key players, and won the league again before a demise that ended with relegation to the Third Division in the 1984.

Notable for being one of the 12 founder members of the Football League in 1888, Derby is one of only ten clubs to have competed in every season of the English football league system and, in 2009, was ranked 137th in the top 200 European football teams of the 20th century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics. Derby County's primary rival clubs are Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Leeds United, with Forest, based in Nottingham, 14 miles east of Derby, being by far the fiercest rivals; a 2008 survey named the rivalry the 11th-largest in English football, revealing that nine out of ten fans from both clubs point to the other as their fiercest rival. Meetings between the side are known as East Midlands derbies and the winning team is awarded the Brian Clough Trophy. Derby play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium, where the club moved in 1997.

    Romero

    Dalot Bailly Smalling Young
    Andreas
    Fred Pogba
    Mata Lukaku Martial

Something like that maybe. No Rashford due to suspension.

    Team should be...

    --------------Romero--------------
    Dalot---Bailly---Jones---Young
    ---------------Matic---------------
    -------Fred------------Pereira-------
    Mata--------Martial--------Sanchez

Subs: Grant, Darmian, Smalling, Pogba, Lingard, Lukaku, Gomes

Can already see the headlines - protege beats master. Someone's already got them printed.

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    Pereira Matic Fred
    Mata Lukaku/Sanchez Martial

Hopefully Dalot, Martial, Pereira and Fred impress. Don't have much hope for the rest.

    ------------Romero---------------
    Dalot-Jones-Bailly-Young
    ---------------Matic--------------
    ---Herrera----------Pereira---
    Mata----------------------Sanchez
    --------------Martial--------------

This is what I'm hoping to see anyway. We shouldn't risk Pogba for this and Lukaku needs a "rest". If Ander isn't available, play Fred.
Hope to see a youngster or two on the bench.

    Grant
    Dalot--Bailly--Jones--Young
    McTominay--Pereira--Fred
    Mata--Sanchez--Martial

subs: Romero, Smalling; Matic, Fellaini; Chong, Lingard, Greenwood

    Sánchez should play in this.

If we're trying to play him into form, this is the perfect opportunity

Mason mount with a classic lampard deflected free kick. 1-0 shut out. Frank runs down the old trafford touchline celebrating wildly...

Can someone tell me how I don't watch United foe sometimes? I became so frustrating watching us play and at the same time I can hardly miss a game! But I need to get used to us being so shit. Really it is unhealthy for me these days.

Going for a fresh lineup for this one.

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    McTominay
    Fred Pereira
    Mata Lukaku Martial

We'll scrape by with a jammy 1-0 win and the Mourinho in thread will be a hive of activity for a week.

The best way to not feel disappointed is to run the game on TV but not fully focus on it. I check my phone or even work on my laptop during the game. So when we are having a bad game, I keep myself distracted to stop myself from throwing insults at the TV. When you are not fully invested in the game, the result and performance doesn't hurt so bad. It took me a year to perfect this technique . But Moyes made my transition easy.If you keep this up, you won't even mind missing a game or two.

Under Fergie, our game would be the only thing on my mind on match day. I used to get zero work done on match days. I would also be super confident during home games and would be frustrated for days if we even draw the match! You need to adapt with the times man :D

    I’d like this please:

    Romero
    Dalot—-Smalling—-Lindelof—-Shaw
    McTominay
    Pereira—-Herrera/Mata
    Mata/Young—-Sanchez—-Martial
The Herrera/Mata question depends on the former’s fitness; his experience would be needed with such a young midfield. If Mata is needed in the centre then as ever the right-wing is lacking, so throw Young in there.

That’s my first choice defence right now, so keep it together to develop some further understanding together. Sanchez in the striker position to see if he can produce something there, and to see how we look if we play with something other than the classic big man upfront.

In reality I’m expecting much the same as normal, with nothing much different tried or experimented with.

Very surprised so many people want Mata to start on the Right. Absolutely pedestrian in that position and not even Championship quality.

I think we should play a strong team, but I don't want squad fillers getting yet anoher chance to undeperform. Jose needs to be ruthless and sideline fringe players like Darmian and Mata who's futures do not lie here. Much rather high performing Academy players get a chance (Greenwood, Chong, Gomes).

    My preferred line-up would be:

    De Gea
    Dalot, Smalling, Lindlof, Shaw

    Perreira, Matic, Fred

    Chong, Martial, Rashford

    Bench
Romero, Young, Bailley, Mctom, Lingaard, Angel Gomes, Lukakku

Very surprised so many people want Mata to start on the Right. Absolutely pedestrian in that position and not even Championship quality.

And you want to start Rashford on the left who is the same

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Matic Fred
    Chong Periera Sanchez
    Martial

Not sure whether players like Lukaku and Sanchez should have a rest of play these type of games as a way of finding confidence. It just makes it worse when they play and do jack shit against championship teams.

And you want to start Rashford on the left who is the same

Huge difference that I'm surprised you are not aware of.

Rashford is not perfect there, but he can dribble, has pace and generally stays out wide. Mata is the antonym of those qualities

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    Pereira Matic Fred
    Mata Martial Sanchez
Hope Shaw starts, but it's unlikely.

Lampard and Jose gonna suck up to each other I guess.

2-0 I reckon. We will win a domestic trophy this season regardless of mediocre performances elsewhere, my gut feeling.

Expecting big changes. I'd be surprised if de Gea, Valencia, or Pogba are in the squad at all, while Herrera could miss out due to injury and Rashford is suspended. I'd also hope Matic is just left out or at least on the bench to give some of the other midfielders a chance:

    Romero
    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    Pereira Fred
    Mata Sanchez Martial
    Lukaku
    ---
Grant; Smalling, Shaw; Matic, McTominay, Fellaini; Lingard

We'll probably see McTominay start instead of Sanchez or Lukaku, but with both needing goals it might be worth giving them this game against lower-tier opponents to see if they can kick on.

Would like to see Martial and Rashford play as 2 strikers in 352 type system.

If they click and score loads give it a try in the league and rest/bench Lukaku.

    Competition is good.

Imagine the headline if Lampard wins.

    FAT FRANK FLATTENS FAILING MOURINHO!

    Hope to see :
    --------Romero-------
    Dalot-Jones-Rojo-Young
    ------Matic--Pereira------
    Rashford--Rashford--Rashford
    ---------Rashford---------

Or a front four of :
    Mata--Fred--Alexis
    --------Martial------

    Should be comfortable.

    DDG
    Dalot - Smalling - Bailly - Young
    Fellaini - Fred
    Pogba
    Lingard - Martial
    Lukaku

SUBS - Herrera (Fred), Mata (Lingard), McTominay (Pogba)

    Man United 2 - 0 Derby
    Martial, Lukaku

Does anyone know of any good pubs in Dublin that'll be showing the game?
