West Bromwich Albion Football Club (nicknamed West Brom, The Baggies, The Throstles, Albion or simply WBA), are a professional football club based in West Bromwich, West Midlands. The club that became West Bromwich Albion was formed in 1878 by a group of young workers at the George Salter Springs factory, appropriate for a club whose terrace celebration would more than a century later become "boing boing". They were renamed West Bromwich Albion in 1880, becoming the first team to adopt the Albion suffix. Just eight years after forming, in 1886 they became the first team from the Midlands to reach an FA Cup final, losing in a replay to Blackburn Rovers. Albion were also among the inaugural 12 members of the Football League in 1888, winning our first game, 2-0 at Stoke's Victoria Ground.

All in all they have one League title win, 5 FA Cup wins, and one League Cup win to their name. Even though West Brom have spent the majority of their history in the top-flight of English football, when the FA Premier League was founded in 1992 the club found themselves in the third tier, and have negotiated periodic relegation-promotion oscillations to the Premier League ever since. West Brom play their homes games at The Hawthorns, and have long-standing rivalries with Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tough game, specially after their result today against Liverpool, they will raise the occasion and we have to be ready for it. Another 0-1 will be just great.

Will be very tough. They'll park the bus and if we don't score quickly it'll turn to be a very ugly game.

Need Fellaini for this one in absence of Pogba, as crosses will be a solution for us.

Hate facing teams that have a new manager appointed.

This could either be 1-0 to them or 4-0 to us.

West Brom should be exhausted after tonight.
This schedule fecks the smaller squads.

Tricky game. Don't see plenty of goals in that one. Young should play over Shaw and give us a bit more attacking qualities. Herrera and Matic in midfield. Lingard was not great today, but I give him another game. Martial and Rashford/Mata on the wings. Hopefully Lukaku can improve a bit soon and score some more goals.

Jones and Smalling did well today so would start them. West Brom away suits them well. Not sure about playing Matic again, but we might have to do it. Then Pogba should be back and it will be a massive boost when the rest of us and the league got tired legs he can play fresh and dominate over christmas.

    Hope to see this:

    ----------------------------Ddg --------------------
    ------------Lindelöf-Smalling-Jones---------
    Valencia-----Herrera-Matic-----Young
    -------------------------Mata---------------------------
    --------------Rashford--Martial---------------

Have they lost under Pardew yet? I think Sky said they haven't scored under him yet

    -------------DDG-----------------
    Valencia- Lindelof- Jones- Young
    -------Herrera-- Matic-----------
    -- Lukaku-- Martial-- Rashford--
    -------------Zlatan----------------

    2-4 United

Hate facing teams that have a new manager appointed.

This could either be 1-0 to them or 4-0 to us.

Or any other score really :D

I know what you mean in that it's hard to predict. I'd like a nice open game with chances and goals all over it, a bit like the Watford away a few games back. Today we played with shackles on, with a few squadies in the starting XI, so I'd like us to play with freedom and without fear and create plenty of chances.

In that case we shouldn't be worried about us getting a result here, especially if they haven't scored for ages

I can imagine, like under Pulis, Pardew will have West Brom very organised and hard to break down, which are the teams we really struggle against.

Without Pogba, we could really struggle to create, as we saw today.

Ideally, we need to bit getting the ball wide and putting crosses in. Going through the middle will just play right in to West Brom's hands.

We were looking better with the 3-4-3 so hopefully we revert to it in this game.

Aye, we don't have the right personnel for 4-2-3-1 and always struggle with it. I would love to see Martial and Rashford play together up top but accept that won't happen so I'd go with this line-up. Could do with a faith-restoring performance from Herrera.

They haven't scored under Pardew yet, so fully expect a Robson-Kanu hat-trick.

They had draws against Spurs and Liverpool, both away. They are good defensive unit, so it's very important to score early.

Anything other than 3 points would be disappointing result.

This is absolutely the game to not feck up, for two reasons:

    • We'll get Pogba back after this game for the last 3 games of the year (LCFC Away, Burnely Home and Saints Home), if we win this one, there's a good chance we'll finish the year with 3 more wins. putting us at 50 points after 21 games (Chelsea had 52 points last year .....).
    • City plays Spurs saturday, so hopefully spurs can get something from the game to put us back in. If we get it back to at least 9 points, it'll keep us going. i can see Spurs do something at the etihad.

They will park the bus, we should play Zlatan as a 10, exactly like Pogba in away games.

edit: i can see it going like the huddersfield game without Paul :/

Go with everthing we have this game and resting the likes of Matic, Valencia, Lukaku, etc as many as possible in next Tuesday League Cup.

Come on it's just Pardew. His dance moves are great but the rest of his management career is inconsistent. No way he could create a stable low block that were solid and constant throughout 90 minutes for two successive games

Confident on this one. Yes Liverpool didn't score but that was on Mane/Salah not being able to finish more than anything West Brom did, they cut them open multiple times. We should be able to do the same.

I hope we score and win with an incredibly obvious and intentional handball that is somehow missed by the officials.

The haven't won in an age but Pardew teams are always dangerous when they get a bit of momentum. They're a tough team to break down.

    De Gea

    Valencia Jones Smalling Shaw

    Matic Herrera

    Rashford Mata Martial

    Lukaku
Actually wouldn't be shocked if Martial is dropped. Mourinho tends to discard him after a few quiet games, despite the fact he's been far better than Lukaku over the last month.

Shaw is hope more than expectation but if we're playing a back four it really should be him getting the start. Young isn't as good defensively and has less freedom forward in a back four.

Matic and Lukaku are being run into the ground but that's on Mourinho for investing so much in them with limited support. It's a really bad sign that they're getting no rest heading into the Christmas period. They will definitely start again though unless Fellaini returns and even then I'd be shocked if Matic were benched.

Not very confident about this game. The attackers are all looking out of sorts and without Pogba they'll have to create their own openings.

    Draw. 1-1.

Imagine we keep the same number of injured midfielders through Christmas and Mourinho's still scapegoating Mkhitaryan…

They'll be tougher to break down as the game progresses,

If we can score in the first 20mins we should be alright.

If only Mourinho would decide to use 3-4-1-2 as an attacking system for us instead of just a reactive one. It's not like we have players to properly start in 4-2-3-1: Mata is dreadful in tough away games (see Huddersfield), Ibrahimović's not fit enough to start, both Martial and Lingard will have to play 3 games in 7 days, not to mention Matić's fourth in a row and injured…

    ----------------DDG--------------
    Valencia---Smalling--Rojo---Young
    ------------Matic---Herrera-------
    Mata---------Lingard--------Rashford
    --------------Lukaku---------------

SUBS - Martial (Mata), McTominay (Lingard), Zlatan (Lukaku)

Standard nonsense. Few clear-cut chances, boring football for the most part, scrappy but deserved-in-the-long-run and important win.

    West Brom 0 - 1 Man United
    Rashford

Last game without Pogba. For sure will be another drab affair with De Gea making a couple of great saves. I hope Mourinho again plays McTominay ahead of Herrera.

Lukaku to keep flat track bullying and 1-0 for us is my prediction.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Jones Shaw
    Matic McTominay
    Mata Lingard Rashford
    Lukaku

    3-0 to us.

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Matic Herrera
    Mata Lingard Rashford
    Lukaku
Probably something like this, we need to rotate a bit. Martial, Ibra and Fellaini to be subs for Rashford, Mata and lingard probably, though lukaku should be rested

I can only see a draw because I'm not sure we will score.
