I'm looking at the February postings, there isn't really many of them, take away Mick and Manx more recently, there's virtually bugger all

Is there really a need for it? I see why perhaps there was in the past, but they're a seperate club, times have moved on, this is a United forum. Shouldn't FCUM just be included as just another football club, and talked about in the football forum?

Perhaps, if a sub forum of this nature can be sustained, the much more populated and prosperous cricket pavillion should be resurrected?

I know it is a ways off but are we gonna have an Olympics forum later in the year?

And while wer'e talking sub forums, one simply for Election related discission in the CE forum might be a good idea i think. These mammoth threads that appear on the Caf which end up with 100s if not 1,000s of replies become all too unwieldy and no longer fit for purpose IMO.

Also...
We have match threads for the club in the matchday forum, then others in the football forum, non-football ones in the Other Sports forum, these coudl all be brought under the one department of "Live Events" say. Then again, that could get cluttered if not managed, hmm.

I would still say that half of the FC crowd are still attending Old Trafford. And all the FC fans are also United fans. Classing them as just another club is a bit misleading. So makes sense to have some sort of special dispensation or FCUM on here. IMHO of course.

That makes sense for a FCUM forum to have a section to talk about United still then. But not really the other way around

The simple fact is no-one is talking about FCUM in there, the sub forum is dead. Mick and Manx could PM each other and have the same conversations!

Weaste was shouted down when he proposed it a year ago, and his thread alone got 117 replies. So far, there have been a mere 69 posts there this year, and we're now in March

It's not far away from a year since I made that thread. There are 90 threads above mine, which is 0.25 threads per day or 1.73 threads per week. Additionally, around 800 posts have been made in that time, which makes for 2.2 posts per day or 15.4 posts per week.

To put this into context, in 8 months, Patti's What are we listening to? thread in the Entertainment Forum has had 1,829 replies which extrapolates to 7.5 posts per day or 52.75 posts per week. A single thread! The entire FCUM forum could be placed into a single sticky thread in the Football Forum.

I was one of those in favour of its retention but in the light of weasties figures they seem to make the sub forum superfluous

cricket is the most boring spectator sport ever, fun to play, night nurse to watch

You obviously have no understanding of the game then.
If your statemnet was correct, the first 3 days of every test match this summer, would'nt of sold out.

Of course I understand the game, the rich protestant kids played it on sundays while we did battle in the gaelic games which were real sports. I used to spin my googlies all over the place on the street with my mates, we would use a cheap cricket bat, a tennis ball and milk crates for wickets!

To watch though its like fecking prozac on a drip! terrible spectator sport

Now I will admit the one day internationals or world cup stuff is fun to watch but the test cricket??, jesus wept. How can a sport that stops for tea and lunch be a good spectator sport?

Baseball is boring as feck too but the yanks sell those out, they go to eat hot dogs and drink copious amounts of beer! Im sure everyone goes to cricket solely for the sport and not for the boozing :smirk:

Pfft, get your arse over to Old Trafford this summer to watch Lanky. In the sun, pint of Bomber in hand, spliff in the other. Civilisation personified

And if Gaelic games really were any good, other countries would play them. :smirk:

You a regular at the cricket Ralphie? I didn't go much last year, mainly due to the dire weather, and that on two occasions when I went down, play was soon rained off. But the two seasons before, I had a season ticket. Was only £70 to watch everything bar the Twenty20. Consider one day of a test costs £35

They do Ralphie  Aussie Rules derived from it and its also played as a sport in England, America, Canada, Europe etc. The only reason its not as popular worldwide as cricket is we werent an Empire and didnt shove it down our subjects throats!

And the english banned it when they were busy doing just that, which didn't help

You have no understanding of the game then. Test cricket is awesome to watch. Real men watch Test cricket.

Think it may just be best left alone

Also Cricket is an awesome sport

That doesn't do those of us who like to read about FCUM much good though does it? I don't see the harm in it. It has much more relevance on a Manchester United forum then cricket does ffs.

I'd like to know what exactly it is that you're reading then. There's nothing there to read!

The relevance is that far more people actually talk cricket on this site than FCUM. What's the point of having a CE, entertainment or general forum on a United site? There obviously is one

I read when people post there, I couldn't really do that if everythig FCUM related was done via pm.

I really don't see your point. Its not like you don't have a place to talk about cricket, how would having your own special little sub forum help? The CE, general and entertainment forums are obvious- they are forums that EVERYONE is going to have input on. I would be surprised if 5% of the site actually talk about cricket.

I also don't even remotely see the point of this thread.

If you don't like it being there, don't read it. If you don't like there not being a cricket-only subforum, swan off to a cricket forum.

The decision has already been made, and for good reason. If we want to get input on rearranging things I dare say we would start a thread for discussion.

In absence of such a thread, the forum is the way the forum is. We don't really need any 'help' in structuring it.
