Predictable thread, but here it goes.

Faced with a choice, one or the other, who would you rather we kept?

It's a tough one imo. Ruud is, at the moment, worth far more to us than Ronaldo is but Ronnie has the potential to be a great player. Even if Ronnie does stay with us this summer I highly doubt that we're going to see his best days anyway.

Ruud for me.

Ronnie and the only reason is that hes almost 10 years younger...

Although Ruud is more important for the team ATM.

What about Djemba Djemba.....

Now there was a player who was underrated if ever I saw one.

He wasnt crap.. HE WAS feckING CRAP.

Someone once told me he was the worst player Fergie had ever bought. I watched him once and realised he was talking bollocks. He was without any shadow of a doubt the worst player ANY United manager had ever bought.

Ronaldo, as i think United wouldnt struggle as much without Ruud as without Ronaldo, we have Rossi, Rooney and Saha to play upfront but only Park and Giggs for the wings

Ruud. I find Ronaldo highly frustrating. Brilliant one game average for the next ten! Ruud has been consistently brilliant. Everyone moans yet the bastard still scored 24 goals last season. Not bad for a player thats lost it don't you thing!

RUUD=LEGEND

Its not a question of one or the other, Ruud was dropped because of his poor performances and perceived lack of motivation, the spat with ronaldo could have been easily solved, collegues have arguements all the time.

It all depends on what the players are actually like. If it is how the media portraits it and Ronaldo is someone who isnt attached to the club and would leave for Real or Barca given the chance, and Ruud someone who is truely a red and would love to finish his career here, then Ruud it is.
But thats just how it comes across.

Ronaldo. He can be a great player for us. For anyone. Ruud is past his best and haven't got many years left anyhow.

Besides the age difference, Ruud is a striker. We have Rooney and Saha, plus Rossi and Solskjaer waiting in the wings.

Ronaldo is a midfielder. and we have, erm, Giggs, Scholes, Fletcher, O'Shea, and Park. Point made?

We are asking would we rather keep a striker whose best days are clearly behind him for a young man yet to hit his peak yet, and who probaly has 10 years more service at the highest level in front of him?

Seriously though Ruud is finished, a lot of people thought he would go to the world cup and make Fergie look stupid for benching him, he didn't, in fact he was benched again. That's 2 managers who work with him on a close basis, who see him in training and both have benched him. After major tournaments, a lot of players value rise, I don't think Ruud's stock will rise after this world cup.I know Bayern Munich are reportedly keen in him, but they won't pay the big fees for him and I can't see any of the more fashionable clubs being interested in him.If he does go, he may have to settle for a club in his homeland, and once again those clubs don't have the big money.

If Ronnie wants to leave, as has been reported in the tabloids, then let him go, we'll get good coin for him.No point in keeping a player who doesn't want to be around the club.

As i said, football wise only an idiot would choose Ruud right now. Even financially. Infact for every single reason but one you would have to go with Ronaldo. And that is loyalty. If Ronaldo would leave the club for a spanish one at the drop of a hat, then id rather keep Ruud who clearly loves the club.

It's looking like this is the case though.

Ruud offers us more than what people give him credit for. He's 'past his best' if you consider his best to be the season when he scored 40 odd goals and had Beckham pinging crosses in to him all the time. He scored over 20 goals this season, carried us (along with Rooney) for the first 2 or 3 months when the midfield was none existent, and the notion of him being appalling before he was dropped is incorrect too.

The reason people think he is past his best is because of how rubbish he was in the last 2 or 3 months of the season. Isn't it understandable if he wasn't getting much football and he wasn't happy?

how about both

How about neither?

Ruud is aged and will go nowhere but down from here.

Ronaldo is a prima donna who (let's face it) will play in Madrid one day. If the right deal came in, let him go.

Ruud.

We can do without players who spend half their time talking about la liga, while spend the rest crying.

Its scary, loads of people on this forum feel that way..:(

I think we should give him the freedom he gets when he plays for portugal..

If I could convince myself that Ronaldo could develop a footballing brain anything as good as his god given talent we'd HAVE to keep him. However, my head says he'll always be a greedy bast, and will never learn when to realise the ball for the good of team.

In which case Ruud for me :D

The new anti Ronaldo brigade fascinates me. I'm still not sure what he did that was so horrible.

Ruud must go because he's stale and past it. If Ronaldo goes too, fine. Hope not.

As far as I'm concerned it was the last straw and not the only reason I would be happy to see him go. You're right about his potential, but the constant crying, cheating and selfishness far outweigh the occasional good game. For me it is simply what type of players I would like to be cheering.
