Boot is a very extreme word, he barely touched him, never enough to warrant him going down. VVD had already started to pull out and his foot as very slow when it touched Lamela.

And I am neutral, I like Klopp but Liverpool can feck off for all I care. Stupid arse had to choose Liverpool when he could've come to United the season before. Twat.
I’m not a Klopp-basher, I generally like the guy, though he is as sore a loser as Mou. Still, you cannot have seen the VVD situation well. He clearly goes for a hard and decisive clearance shot, and unaware of Lamela, hits him in the back of the leg. It’s very hard, as normal per that kind of clearance attempt, and Lamela has not much chance of staying up.

The first situation is obviously a blatant offside.

Watch @GifLord video of the discussion. They clearly say if Lovren touches the ball then it's a penalty. It was confirmed by the 4th Official that he touched the ball, that plays him in and the penalty was in play.
They say that, and they are wrong according to the rules of the game. You are onside if the ball is a deliberate play from the defending player, not if it rebounds off him or if he attempts to save it. Similar to the back pass rule in that respect.

Lovren tried to play the ball in a clearance and sliced it off himself. That IS DELIBERATE. It wasn't a rebound just because the actual play of the ball was not what Lovren may have actually intended/desired.

How is he not aware of Lamela?
He's standing right in front of him.

Our resident scousers will certainly not agree with me but I find it concerning the way Klopp celebrated that goal as if the game was in the bag, so naïve.

Should he get punished after clapping the ref after that second penalty? He also made that wired stuff with his face:lol:

You think he would have learnt by now overseeing such a porous defence. Staggering the amount of points we lost from winning positions

So next time a striker is five yards off side and a midfielder lifts a ball toward him which the last CB swings his leg at to clear but only skims it off his shin into the path of that striker who then goes on to score is fine then?

I want your opinion when that is next given offside. I'll be coming on here regularly to question you on it dick.

I'd love to see Klopp eventually getting sacked. It will kill two birds in one stone, Liverpool loses a decent manager, better than most in their last 25 years history, and Klopp's career gets further down, a punishment for rejecting us when SAF retired.

If anyone is wondering whether or not the FA should, or will take action, lets just remind ourselves of what Jose has been punished for in the past 18 months or so:

On Anthony Taylor before the Liverpool game: “I think Mr Taylor is a very good referee but because such pressure is being put on him I think it will be difficult for him to have a very good performance at Anfield,” he said. “I don’t really want to say too much more on the matter. I have my view but I have learned a lesson, if you want to call it that, by being punished so many times for my words about referees.” - Fined £50,000

During United 0-0 Burnley draw last season (the Heaton blinder):
Argues with Clattenburg after Flanagan fouls Darmian in the box and no pen given - sent to the stands. Later given a 1 match touchline ban and £58,000 fine

Sent to the stands for encroaching onto the pitch during United's victory over Southampton.

Kicks water bottle during 1-1 draw with West Ham -
Accused of "endangering people around him" - 1 match touchline ban, fined £16,000

These are only during the last season and a half.

Now think of how many of these Klopp does on a regular basis. He's had zero repercussions from his behaviour and its about time he was pulled up on it.

The rule of law states that the player who is offside but not interfering with the play shouldn't be flagged to keep the game going or else the linesman would have to keep flagging people for offside. The first pass wasn't going to Kane if Lovren didn't touch it hence it wasn't flagged. It fell to Lovren who miscleared it and then it fell to Kane and hence it's inside. Rule of the game wasn't broken and I think sky did try to explain it after the game.

The 2nd penalty was as clear as a day in the Atacama desert. Van Dijk didn't see Lamela and tried kicking the ball out while Lamela was clearly reaching it, the kick hit Lamela before it hit the ball. Clear penalty.

Refs didn't get any big decision wrong in my opinion.

Still not good enough @NikSab. I'll change my scenario slightly in that case. Said striker is 5 yards off side but is walking back and away from play. Midfielder lifts the ball toward ANOTHER onside player who for whatever reason falls over. Clearing defender as mentioned skims the ball off his shin, into offside striker's path and he scores.

I'll bet you that goal never stands 100 times out of a 100.

Except that Kane went down under minimal contact. Much less contact than Niasse and Lanzini, who were banned for diving, went down under.

What a load of garbage.

Its as if people think a couple years ago we were some elite club winning titles year after year and now Klopps come in and hasn't delivered. Everyone laughs at Arsenal for just getting 4th every year... well we can't even do that! So how bad does that make us look?

Our league finishes have been abysmal barring that one season under Brendan. How can you go from finishing 6th 7th 8th to "Yeah we should be winning trophies, Klopps not delivering" Just because 'we're Liverpool' and it should be our right to be winning trophies? Lay off!

Taking history and stature out of the equation we are a midtable club looking to break into the top four. It's sad, but its true. You cant say "Oh yeah but X many years ago we were dominating, so we should be dominating now."

What Klopp has done, in respect to our recent campaigns (Which is all I'm interested in), is brilliant. Two cup finals in his first season was incredible, I don't even know if any of our players had even been in cup final before that. Also, the fact that no Liverpool fan was even expecting us to get to two cup finals tells you everything.

The current target for us should be to establish ourselves as a top four club. When people predict the top four before the season begins we need Liverpool to be mentioned just like Manchester City are. At the moment we aren't. We're a "maybe". That has to change before we even start to think about trophies.
No wonder you are posting here and not on RAWK ..

Spot on. .
Well done SIR , well done ..

I didn't actually know the rule was as such until today so I was as surprised as perhaps you still are, but ultimately Lovren "passes" it to Kane... it cannot be interpreted in any other way.

The second penalty was a joke tbf.
Yep, there was hardly any contact between VVD and Lamela. That's a clear dive, the second one in this game that resulted in a penalty.

It's when it will constantly be interpreted the other way that I will keep asking why.

That happened earlier in the season and it was given onside. Deliberate attempts to play the ball, not rebound, will make the opposition player onside.

It's not as if they are making the rules up as they go just to spike liverpool

How is it a joke? Van Dijk had a clear strong kick on the back of lamela's leg. It was a joke Jon Moss didn't spot that himself.

The linesman should be congratulated for getting decisions right against a hostile crowd and such a tight situation in the game. A lot of senior referees would have folded in that situation.

They should throw the book at him. Then pick it up and throw it again.

It will not be interpreted the other way. If you swing your leg and make contact, it will never be offside. You will be waiting for a ref mistake (in case he didn't see the contact) but then we have VAR soon so you will be waiting for a while. Unless they change the rules.

That's actually the biggest thing. No different to Jones own goal in that these errors are not acceptable in the biggest matches. How he chose Lovren to play ahead of Matip I don't know. That's the question their fans should ask him.

Well explained and I get it but it's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that an offside Kane is the reason Lovren tries to clear it. How is that not interfering?

I know manager's are always biased but the second one is as clumsy and as stonewall as you'll see. Those saying Lamela played for it - even if it's true it doesn't change that it's a penalty. If you get kicked that hard, that high, on your leg there's zero room for doubt.

I think the Liverpool fans should forget about the result and the referee and look at the performance. Spurs completely dominated you guys on your home patch particularly in the 2nd half. That's new. Now it might be a one off in which case it's fine but definitely outplayed and the central midfield is a huge area of concern for that.

And why the feck was Lovren playing ahead of Matip? Does he even know who he wants to partner VVD?

You need to read the rules again. When a defender deliberately tried to and succeeded in touching the ball, the play is resetted. So the previous "offside" is not counted.

But my point is you have to give the previous offside, no?
