Boateng’s attitude is baffling. I understand journos pushing the click bait “is there a power shift!?” angle, but a former player championing the whole “City are now the power in Manchester/England” schtick because of an impressive half season seems madness to me. They haven’t even been the most successful side of the last 5 years, let alone in the near decade since their takeover. Heck, we’ve technically won more than them in our post Fergie crisis years, even disregarding the whole, you know, being Man Utd thing.Andy Gray speaking sense. When did this massive footballing landscape shift occur exactly? And where did the idea of it come from? I remember when Chelsea were gonna destroy the very idea of competition after Mourinhos first season, and be the biggest club in the world by 2014. That was fun. Are we doing that again?
And it’s not even Citys fault. They aren’t pushing it. It’s bored journos and pundits desperate for a juicy hot take that are pushing it for them. Its just a little surprising that so few people are calling it out for the nonsense it is. Unless of course they’re merely saving that for the next media cycle, where they mine another 10 + hours of empty fluff coverage discussing how nonsense the thing they made a big deal of was after all.

I swear this only happens when United, Barca or Real are involved.
They also ignore United’s strict internal policy re the structuring of payments, financing of deals etc. People make out like we go in and drop off briefcases full of cash.

We really do need someone on the right - every player tried there has failed to make an impact - and I’m sure Sanchez would do... more there than what we’ve had. What a waste though. In playing him there, we would be getting the player that struggled at Barcelona rather than the one who thrived at Arsenal. It’s a disappointing thought really. All of Sanchez, Martial, Rashford, Lingard and Pogba prefer to operate in an inside left position. They want to start wide left and move infield, or start infield and drift into space out on that left hand side. The signing of Alexis solves no problems, just exacerbates the ones we already have.
If he signs, Chile missing a World Cup is great news. He can rest up and hit the ground running.
The way Sanchez has gone from a brilliant player who will help the already dominating City dominate the Premier League for a considerable future to a money grabbing mercenary who is on the verge of breaking physically, in a space of a weekend, is quite hilarious.
Lingard isn’t a central midfielder. Matic would have too much to do in that set up

Its exciting that this seems very likely. Sanchez starting for us soon, who would have thought that? its very much like the RVP transfer for me. I just never pictured it.

Wenger himself said before he thinks Sanchez can be better on the right then the left, but he always had Ozil who was more comfortable on the right and drifting inwards and a few others who could play on the right better. The reason for struggles at Barca was more stylistically (which is weird why Pep wanted him so much now). He's a lot more suited to Mourinho's style rather then Peps. Sanchez likes getting on the ball and doing a lot on his own, twisting and turning and dribbling the ball around. Pep likes pass and move to open space and always unselfish. Sanchez likes to force the game in attack, which IMO is exactly what we need for Mourinho's style. So yeah, not a waste at all. I think it's exactly what we need and will fit in perfectly.
The whole "he's chosen money first" angle makes no sense for the simple fact that if money was all he was bothered about he'd stay where he is for another 4 and a bit months and get free agent signing money.
Am pretty sure Lingard would prefer #10, Martial would prefer #9, and I don't think Pogba should be pushed to one side.

It's an unpopular opinion, but journos do get paid off to slant things a certain way.
This happens throughout all entertainment journalism, and I would strongly suggest that city's PR team have had a vested interest in boosting their public image over United's (if possible).
It appears obvious to me that large portions of the media are making a quite transparent attempt to paint city as a 'good thing for English footy', and Utd as a bad thing.
Atleast he gets a good rest in the summer with no World Cup, sounds selfish but having him fresh going into a new season could be huge for us.
Might as well include the main creative mid too. Pogba for us, KDB for City, Eriksen for Spurs, soon to be Keita for Liverpool, Fabregas for Chelsea.... Ramsey/Wilshere for Arsenal. They really need to rebuild quite a bit. But that front 4 is looking brilliant now. As good as any of them IMO.
