God, I've missed it.

It's been brewing for a few weeks for me with Zlatan Fever in Norwegian media, Pogba signing last week and the Shield win and Bournemouth win, but today it was just out in full bloom. I've been waiting for the game all week and when I woke up today the first thing on my mind was the game. The team is back at home. Pogba is playing his first game since the transfer. Zlatan is playing his first competitive game in front of the home fans. It was in my head the whole day, and the closer it got to kick-off time, the more jittery and excited I became.

It just felt like the excitement was back for all our supporters. The atmosphere at the ground came through the screen, the roar from the crowd was much louder and for the first time in years my eyes were locked on the game for 90 minutes in anticipation of a bit of magic that could pop up at any given moment. Even the players look like they've entirely shed the shell they'd crawled up into last season. Valencia, Mata and Fellaini are like completely new players this time around, and seeing Shaw back on that left side is lovely. I think the moment that really sums it up for me was Pogba's face as he came out of the tunnel. He's back, we're back, everything's just coming together after a few years adrift.

This season is going to be so much fun, and I'm loving every second of it so far! Who knew a bit of optimism could feel so good?
 
We should be called the febreeze brothers cos it's feelin' so fresh right now. Who'd have thought at the end of last season that all of this would happen. Class players coming in, existing players improving massively, it's really exciting times at United! I fancy us for the league.
 
I'm going to raise my hand and say yes, I feel the same.. It's been far too long. Feeling good again
 
It's a great feeling to get a bit of a buzz back. Exile for 3 years of poor football despite a couple of trophies :D Next match can't come quick enough.
 
Looking forward to matches and feeling confident of winning, not been many of them over the last 3 years
 
Agree with the OP and I don't think this was anything like the level of excitement the team will ultimately reach. Amazed how quickly we are looking like a Mourinho team though, I thought we'd be stuck in LVG mode for a while.
 
It most definitely is. The turn around from last season to what we have now is amazing. It really was the summer of the muppet and now were enjoying the fruits.
 
Late night match on a Friday after an exhausting week. Previous regimes would have me asleep by halftime.

But not last night, I was wide awake till final whistle, wanting more!
 
Can't remember the last time I was buzzing like this....Probably Chelsea at home in 2011.

This is what United is about.....fecking travesty Jose was overlooked. It feels fecking great.
 
so the Mourinho's "boring defensive football" stigma has been quashed pretty quickly. I haven't been enjoying our matches and felt confident winning games like this in a long while.

I mean, sure, we'll still drop points, but I'd probably be much more disappointed than I was for the past few years.
 
This games was like a breath of fresh air after the clusterfeck that the team produced under LvG. Keep thinking that none of the players should be judged under LvG Hopefully we see a bit of Schweinsteiger in the team as well.
 
Have remain cautiously optimistic... I really thought we had turned a corner in the spring of LVG's first season with wins vs City, Liverpool and Spurs... how wrong that was.
 
The stink of Van Gaal has well and truly been lifted. Just seeing the lads fight hard is a welcome seachange.

I think the bad part about that was the fact that the season ended right after that. We were building momentum and then stopped in our tracks.

Exactly. Last season, i wouldn't have bothered watchin the game, esp on a friday night. But last night, decided to stay indoors and watch it. Great decision there :)
 
Yesterday I was throwing kurwas around with a grin on my face when we somehow didn't score yet another goal. Last season kurwas were full of hatred, despair and sadness.
 
Games like yesterday against Southampton, i have dreaded them the last 3 years, in fact i have dreaded playing anyone the last 3 years lol. Just no confidence in us and i hate saying that, but yesterday i had zero nerves, it was like it used to be under SAF. Of course Mourinho isn't SAF and i'm sure we will have our fair share of shitty results this year, but i'm getting that confidence back that i used to have when SAF was our maanger.
 
The atmosphere was very special in the ground, you can tell there is genuine optimism and belief again. The fans were bouncing a much louder than normal. The closest games I can think of that I've attended for atmopshere would be the 4-2 against City and 4-0 v QPR when the new signings all played but this was a level above that. Zlatan, Baily, and Ibrahimovic are made for the PL and United. There was huge excitement everytime Pogba drove forward, we haven't had someone do that for a long time nor score the header Zlatan's did.
 
We are back. Southampton actually played well yesterday and, if they performed like that against us last season, they'd have got the goals back. But yesterday it was never in doubt, we're just miles better now and you sense that we'll make sure we win.

I think there's a few more gears to go through still, which makes it even more exciting. We'll be at our absolute best when Martial is firing and we have a right winger.
 
The buzz is back because we have a manager who treats the job like it is the biggest, not only that he is a manager in his prime and he knows he can attract the best players, he will bring out the best in the squad, and he is here not just to compete but make us better, and win trophy's, having that kind of personality you know you're not wasting your time, hes given hope to fans. When you going to war you want the leaders around you that can win the war, not playing tiddlywinks and wasting our time. VG and Moyes were either clueless in Moyes case, or in VG's case felt like he was taking the piss, the way he had us set up almost telling the players don't score goals or do anything out of the ordinary. VG and Moyes just did not understand or get the message when they came here, Mourinho not only gets it, he actually wants the squad to understand you're coming here to win everything, and that mentality is the hallmark of what Ferguson came here to do. When teams see OT getting closer these days now, you get the sense from a psychology point of view its going to be a long night, because you're facing a Mourinho team is so hard to play against because the mentality the team has got, its not just players its the manager who knows what he is doing and can get the respect from the dressing room.

Absolutely, i feel the same way too.

I have the day off at Fridays, and pretty much spent the entire day in anticipation for kick off and was giddy all day. Big contrast to last year, when i would be in a foul mood pretty much all day when we played

Nah, there were a few games after those and we tailed off pretty badly. Lost against Chelsea, Everton and West Brom in a row. Only won one of our last six fixtures. That little purple patch was a fluke.

Agreed. At the time, it didn't seem like a fluke. However, looking back at the two seasons under van Gaal, it was more luck (unintentional) than anything else.
 
Just seeing the way fecking Valencia is playing again is enough to get you excited, let alone the rest.
 
Yes, yes it is. Really enjoyed the match last night and I genuinely couldn't stop smiling at times. It feels good being confident going into a season. I've missed that feeling.

My favourite thing is that there is still so much more room for improvement and it's obvious the best is yet to come. Exciting times ahead I think.

Feels so different, players are buzzing, crowd is buzzing, Chris Kamara was buzzing, I'm buzzing.
Mourinho saying all the right things.
You can't see what it'd be like with a hiccup or if stuff starts going wrong, but right now it's better than I imagined it would be.
 
I do also think the Friday night match had a significant role to play on the atmosphere. End of the week so everyone gets straight on it after work and arrive to the match with a nice buzz on. Early kick off on Saturday by comparison would not have been as bouncing. This is not to deny that the confidence around the place being a factor.
 
The last 3 seasons, it felt like a little relief when the game was over and you had a week to not think much about it again. Now, it's a week until we play Hull and it feels like fecking ages. I want it now.
 
Don't want to go overboard, but sure, it's hard to not be excited at the potential of this team.
