We have not scored a first half goal since September vs wolfsberg and honestly this stat is quite concerning to put in lightly.

Our attack lacks flow and to my eyes any method or rationality to it. We are too slow and too laborious and its pathetic to watch. In some games we have been a bit unlucky but on the whole we have not got goals to start games well and dictate the games on our turn.

Awful stat. Also feels like teams don't attack us either which makes for quite the boring game.

Did a first half draw bet tonight cus of this. Didn't have the balls to bet big though.

Decent half though. I think that's actually more or less what LVG's system intends. The commentators are so fecking irritating, we keep playing like that and a goal will come. Would like to see Martial coming inside more though. Even though Rooney's playing well he's on his own too much.

Van Gaal is impressed with these 0-0s. Shows that we have games under control.

This is dreadful but there is serious money to be made here.

When you have 2 holding midfielders against a league 1 team that have 10 men behind the ball, you know chances will be few and far between as we are that predictable.

We are built for possession, and nothing else. Louis sees it as controlling the game as we are he better team in stats, but we are so easy to defend against.

Desailly is a God.
I find normal procedure with United games now is that I'll turn the game on TV, then look at my phone/tablet for the majority of the 90 mins. The reason being the football is fecking horrendous.

2 proper full backs, which has been a bit of a novelty, and 2 big immobile holding mids!

You could get away with 2 wingers at full back, only 1 centre mid, and bring Memphis in, and push Martial back to the position he was ripping It up.

It's so uninspired

I'm fairly certain most people don't give a sh!T bout possession, only attacking, style, and results.

It's one of the most pathetic stats I've ever heard for a club of our stature. Quite how a club with a tradition of attacking football still considers this acceptable is incomprehensible. But then I'm just a football fan, I'm sure there's some incredible ultra long-term master plan behind it all. Perhaps in a few years time we'll play fantastic football for another 3 odd weeks in a row, completely vindicating Van Gaal.

Just a side note, had we won the majority of those games, this stat would be celebrated as a clean sheet exercise and how we grind teams down.

It's just shocking. Words can't describe just how poor we have been. How he's still in a job is just beyond me.

Seriously I wish Van Gaal would just leave. I dont mind us drawing or losing. I really dont. Seeing us not get a shot away against Sheffield United at Old Trafford is so depressing. The fans deserve better for the money they pay to get into the ground.

It's shocking. We've scored 2 first half home goals in the PL this season. Depay v Sunderland and Walker's OG against Spurs in the first game of the season.

In other competitions: Mata pen v Wolfsburg, Rooney v Ipswich, Depay x2 vs Brugge.

So out of 17 home games, 5 of those had us scoring in the first half.

It's genuinely staggering.

We used to take pride in the fact that we sacked a manager after winning seven games in a row and yet here we are - richest sporting institution in the world - keeping faith in a manger who can't get us to score a goal.

That is certainly something to build on.

We didn't concede in those as well - progress!

The positive is were not conceding (well one daft goal in all those matches).

But the thing is, that wouldnt be much of a damning stat if the possession game was doing what its intended to do, have the opposition chasing the ball, tiring from their game and then giving us a chance to open up in the second half and kill them with our saved energy.

It's depressing. I am not shocked at this stage by it, it has to be the instruction given by LvG.

Keeping a clean sheet is fine, but sitting on the ball only works when you're already in the lead. If the opposition do score first I have no idea how we will get back into the game... Perhaps LvG thinks that too & that's why he tells them to play this way. Real vote of confidence in his attack..

The reason why is obvious. Some will praise Sheff United but they played two strikers and were poor. We were dogshite and I think had one maybe two shots on goal in 45 minutes - none on target. This is why this stat exists. This football might work if you had a star striker but we don't. So it's not really surprising.

I sit at the North-East block and since we usually kick off in the first half that way, I haven't seen a lot of goals recently. It's become a bit of a joke amongst us and the people around. Very depressing.

in fairness to the big dutch fella, he came and said we would pass the pass around and the opposition would wear themselves out. All our goals being in second half say that that is at least partially a reality

If we won every game 1-0, it would still be awful to watch but you could make a case for it. Given that the final scores are largely unsatisfactory says it doesn't really work.

7 mighty goals in the second half in those last ten home games. We're spoilt.

didn't say that, but story does check out in a way, we are trying to wear teams down. Probably worked better in spain in 2000 when it was just unacceptable to park the bus for 90% of teams

This is so bad when you actually think about it, it's laughable.
What it means is that in 450 minutes of football (equivalent of 5 games), only 1 goal has been scored.
And it doesn't matter who we play against: Good teams. Bad teams. CL teams. League One teams. Its all the same. 0-0 after 45 minutes.
