Your Top 5 Video Games?

LOST > Metroid Prime.

24 > Spoony.

Convincing a Final Fantasy fan that Zelda is better is like convincing a Liverpool fan that they don't have the best team in da world ever.

But it's not about convincing is it, you idiot. I happen to prefer Final Fantasy over Zelda, but there is no denying both games are asbolutely superb. The reason I prefer FF is because I prefer the story-lines and the way you are able to Level up, customise your characters etc. Some people love doing that, others hate it.

Difficult really, sure I've forgotten a few.

1. Half Life (Fantastic memories, playing through it the first time. But it also gave us Counterstrike, Day of Defeat and Team Fortress, first two being the best ever online games)

2. Shogun: Total War (Don't think this has been matched by its follow ups, haven't played Empire: Total War yet though)

3. Operation Flashpoint (So many great memories, it was awesome)

4. Baldur's Gate 2 (My favourite RPG, much as I liked Final Fantasy 7 and 8)

5. Stalker (Really buggy and didn't live up to its promise, still love it though, and it has a great community)

Baldurs Gate 2 was going to be my number 6, with Shogun at 7 and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (what a cracking game) at 8. Those were the days. Quality games.

Link is the man, much better than the whiny main characters you find in FF games. He doesn't have any great hang ups, he only wants two things:

1) kill a load of dudes
2) screw a princess

I can respect that.

Final Fantasy = I hit boss with sword. Boss hits me with bigger sword. I hit boss with a super duper sword and he dies. Cue 10 minute long overdramatic cutscene.

and loot a feckload of rupees while doing it

You've obviously never played a Final Fantasy game then.

Well how should it go then?

The Only time I played it you didn't actually get to do any fighting, just turn taking bollocks.

If it isn't actually like that then I apologise profusely.

I played Ocarina of Time on the N64 and didn't really rate it tbh, never bothered completing it. I remember an old Zelda game on the SNES though, Link to the Past? That was class.

FF7 and FF8 were great though. If only I could get them running on my PC, might just buy an old PS though

I think the Zelda games are superior in almost every way. Gameplay, music, epic feeling, perhaps not in graphics though.

oh and Chrono Trigger > Early FF games.

Anyone remember a certain game called "Roller Coaster Tycoon" ?

Used to be nuts about that..... I'll also shamelessly confess to being hooked onto The Sims when it first came out..

FIFA 98 and World Cup 98 are right up there,

Jeez, how could I forget....Age of Empires 2!?

Oh and of course.. Championship Manager 01/02 :D

but then again, don't quite know if any of them count as 'video games'

Roolercoaster Tycoon was awesome, although I could never make a Rollercoaster that people liked. Gits.

Theme Hospital was another game kind of like that. Only Hospitals instead of Rollercoasters. Anyway that's another classic, there

Theme Hospital was incredible fun! I always liked the Airline Tycoon game as well.

In no particular order

Sonic 2
Rainbow 6 : Vegas
Fifa 98
Super Mario Workd
One of the GTA's

I hate making these lists, but my fav ones are in no particular order:

Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX - love every FF but these are my fav
Chrono Cross
Resident Evil - every RE until 4, they made RE into mindless action game, gay...
Silent Hill - pretty much every SH, didn't like Homecoming that much though but better than The Room i guess
Pro Evolution Soccer - last two are pretty arcadish, I hope for that to change
HOMM 3

Two very good calls there that totally slipped my mind. I have yet to play a war game as good as shogun. And baldurs gate on the ps2 was awesome fun.

As my list shows i'm a big fan of RPG's, mainly JRPG's. I love Zelda, but the main thing for me that puts Final Fantasy games above it is the story. It's like an interactive film to me, i don't give a rats ass if i don't touch the controller for 15 minutes as long as the story is keeping me gripped. It's like a good book, once you pick it up you want to know how it ends, you get to know the characters.

Yes the fightings turn based in the majority of them, but is that such a bad thing? Personally i find action games a tad dull, you're just bashing the same few buttons over and over again. They're good for a little while, but i wouldn't play it again once i'd finished it. Which is why i rate them higher, i could play them again and again and not get bored (apart from XII). Hence why i still have all the old Final Fantasy games but got rid of all the Prince of Persia games as soon as i'd finished them.

To be fair after reading through that, it seems like a bit of a rant and probably pointless, but seeing as i've written it i might as well post it.

I dare say, I'd smash your face in on International Track and Field.

My mate has just bought it on his ps3 from the ps3 store. It's fecking amazing.

Speaking of storylines, I don't think the FF series has made a good transition to English. That is except for FF7 and even that was a bit silly.

Half-Life 2
Final Fantasy VII
Mass Effect
Assassin's Creed (gameplay got a bit boring towards the end)
Pokemon Yellow (Pikachu AND all three starters :D)
