The best intro thread got me remembering some absolute gems that I'd forgotten about. Some of them I couldn't post the intro for because it wasn't that great on its own, but made me remember how much I adored the game. What are your top fives? Having only really been gaming for ten or twelve years, my top five list looks something like:

1. World of Warcraft - I know this is pretty depressing, but considering how much time I've sunk into this game I must enjoy it on some level!

2. Final Fantasy VIII - My childhood, gone. And what a story!

3. FIFA 98: Road to World Cup - Over a decade old, but still the greatest football game ever made.

4. Mass Effect - I only played this last year, but it was staggeringly good. The best game I've played for years.

5. Sacrifice - This game never did as well as it should. It was way ahead of its time in terms of gameplay and graphics, and the story and voice-acting (Tim Curry, people!) were absolutely top notch. Loved it.

Zelda: A Link To the Past
Fallout 2
Little Big Adventure 2
Super Mario World
Fifa

Final Fantasy VII
Tekken 3
Warhawk
Sonic 2
Jedi Outcast

Something like that anyway.

1. Final Fantasy VIII
2. Final Fantasy X
3. Zelda: Link To The Past
4. Dragon Quest VIII
5. Final Fantasy VII

That probably accounts for a year of my life in total time played. God that's sad, but i enjoyed it. If a game doesn't last longer than 20 odd hours it ain't worth playing!

1. Monkey Island 2
2. Half Life 2
3. Doom 2
4. Counterstrike
5. Diablo 2

Very hard though. Strange that almost all of them are sequels...

1. Legend of Zelda-Majora's Mask
2. Super Mario 64
3. Banjo Kazooie
4. Resident Evil 4
5. Legend of Zelda-Ocarina of Time

I tried to get a top 100 going here before, needless to say it ended in spectacular failure.

in no particular order...

Diablo II
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Rainbow Six Vegas: 2
Starcraft64
Tie Fighter

maybe. there are some greats out there.

Tetris
Super Mario bros 2 Japanese version not the Doki Doki Panic rip
Super Mario bros 3
Donkey Kong - Original US arcade version
Crash Bandicoot

I though FF8 was totally pointless.

My fav games?

Super Metroid
SF II Turbo
Sensi Soccer(this is the best footy game, ever, Ducks!)
FF 7
Resident Evil 2.

Probably.

Mine :

1-Final Fantasy IX
2-Zelda : Ocarina of Time
3-Super Mario 64
4-Pro Evolution Soccer
5-Secret of Mana

Diablo 2
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Final Fantasy X
Pro evo (any, love em all, though the recent ones esp on the next gen platforms have been very disappointing)
Theme Park (on the sega mega drive, was absolutely addiced to it)

Notable mentions: soul calibur 2, battle arena toshinden, sonic races, fighting vipers, nightwarriors darkstalkers revenge, sim city. ( I used to have a saturn, lots of great games on it)

There's no point in me doing one of these because, with the exception of Oblivion or Morrowind, it's just going to be full of Final Fantasy games.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario 64/Super Mario Bros 3
GTA: Vice City
Pro Evo 4
Monkey Island 2

Never understood the appeal of Final fantasy type games to be honest, I'm too impatient when it comes to all the turn-taking.

Swos. I still play it online on the 360- if anybody fancies a game give me a pm.

Super Mario 64. I grew up with a NES, Gameboy and Snes and to see Mario 64s graphics for the first time was breathtaking. Gameplay was the usual Mario joy as well.

Goldeneye. Awsome singleplayer and awesome multiplayer.

Zelda:Ocarina of Time. Wonderful, deep and immersive.

Champ Man. In the mid to late 90s I played the shit out of it. Tried Football manager nowadays but just can't get into it. That's more to do with my changing gaming tastes than anything else though.

Difficult really, sure I've forgotten a few.

1. Half Life (Fantastic memories, playing through it the first time. But it also gave us Counterstrike, Day of Defeat and Team Fortress, first two being the best ever online games)

2. Shogun: Total War (Don't think this has been matched by its follow ups, haven't played Empire: Total War yet though)

3. Operation Flashpoint (So many great memories, it was awesome)

4. Baldur's Gate 2 (My favourite RPG, much as I liked Final Fantasy 7 and 8)

5. Stalker (Really buggy and didn't live up to its promise, still love it though, and it has a great community)

I'm glad to see all the Zelda appreciation here, it's genius, every part of it. I said to my mother that if I ever get amnesia, I want to play A Link to the Past, ocarina of time and majoras mask again, just for the feeling of doing it for the first time again. I've also listed a couple of movies.

Oh god how I hope I get amnesia..

i wouldnt say these are the greatest games ever but they are the ones that I spent the most time playing

Street Fighter II
Super Mario Kart
Sensible Soccer
Super Bomberman
Super Mario World
