2. pi
3. dear hunter
4. fear and loathing in las vegas
5. raging bull
6. goodfellas
7. taxi driver
8. city of god
9. ronin
10. usual suspects

1. As Good As It Gets
2. Seven
3. Memento
4. Shawshank Redemption
5. The Unforgiven
6. Pulp Fiction
7. The Shining
8. Braveheart
9. Trainspotting
10. Leaving Las Vegas

...the order is almost random except for no. 1

I can't even remember half of the films I've watched

1. Once Upon a Time in the West
2. The Matrix
3. True Romance
4. Last of the Mohicans
5. Cinema Paradiso
6. Lord of the Rings (Is it unfair to put the whole trilogy as one film??)
7. Leon
8. Terminator 2
9. Fifth Element
10. The Thing

The top 5 are pretty much set in stone but the rest could be mixed up in order.

In no real order

Ran
Being John Malkovich
Braveheart
Misery
Tommy
The Wall
Silence of the lambs
V for Vendetta
Shawshank Redemption
Blazing Saddles

Damn that was harder than I thought it would be.

I don't know about a top 10, that could change a lot but 10 of my favourites would be:

The Usual Suspects
Pulp Fiction
Seven
Shawshank Redemption
Full Metal Jacket
Goodfellas
American History X
The Big Lebowski
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Bourne Trilogy (yes its three films but its one story.)

I've probably forgotten a bunch of classic films too.

I'll give it a try:

- Shawshank Redemption
- Matrix (1)
- Rocky (1,2,3,4,5)
- Man On Fire
- Austin Powers (1,2)

4. fear and loathing in las vegas

Probably not the top ten of all time but allways have a soft spot for this film.

Mainly because when i first watched it I'd just gotten a big bag of grass with mates and was stoned off my face watching it

Goodfellas
Raging Bull
Casino
Godfather II
Gladiator
Pulp fiction
City of God
Clerks
The Dark Knight
Southpark Bigger Longer Uncut

In no particular order, and likely to change as often as the wind....

Empire Strikes Back
Goodfellas
The Big Lebowski
Withnail & I
Ghostbusters
Delicatessen
Aliens
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Lost Boys
Terminator 2

Sharky's list in general looks quite ropey.

For me the films I like the most, like the ones I would want if I was stranded on a deserted island with nothing but a working tv and dvd player, or whatever, would be:

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Die Hard
The Princess Bride
Fargo
Annie Hall
Big Trouble In Little China
The Big Lebowski
Ghostbusters
Empire Strikes Back
Pulp Fiction

My 'Top 10' for movies is fluid though, I've already changed it twice before submitting this post.

Taxi Driver
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Raising Arizona
The 39 Steps
Goldfinger
Casablanca
Doctor Zhivago
Touch of Evil
Pinocchio
Andrei Rublev

In no particular order.

Sex.

I'm not man enough to pick 10 movies.

I'm jjust going to get annoyed by it anyways.

On the other side I am infact man enough to pick 10 genre films, so I'll go with war films.

Sorry if this is moving off topic, or no, this isn't really a original topic so no ones fun will be ruined.

(MODERN) WAR, WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR
-absolutely nothing

10. Don't know
9. Don't know
8. Deer Hunter
7. Das Boot
6. Platoon
5. Der Untergang
4. The Great Dictator
3. La Battaglia di Algeri
2. Apocalypse Now
1. Full Metal Jacket

These are more or less in order, and there are a lot more "War films" I didn't include because I wanted to keep it modern and some I didn't want to include for various reasons, many of which would have gotten a place in the top. Like Blechentrommel, Ran, Gone with the wind, dr. strangelove.

Therefore Incomplete, feel free to criticise though, it's not THAT incomplete.

See, looking at some of the films I missed, I realise my list is absolute bollocks

1. The Lord of the Rings trilogy
2. Saving Private Ryan
3. Snatch
4. The Matrix
5. Dumb and Dumber
6. Forrest Gump
7. V for Vendetta
8. Blow
9. American History X
10.Into The Wild

The Breakfast Club just misses out.

The Matrix would probably be top of my list if it wasn´t for Reloaded and Revolutions.

Reservoir Dogs
The Blues Brothers
Tillsammans
Fight Club
Almost Famous
La vita e bella
This Is England
Goodfellas
Raging Bull
A Clockwork Orange

No particular order, and could very possibly change if I did the list tomorrow.

A matter of life and death
Its a wonderful life
12 angry men
night of the hunter
the outlaw josey wales
the warriors
lord of the rings
way out west
the thrid man
seven samurai

1. Requiem for a dream
2. pi
3. dear hunter
4. fear and loathing in las vegas
5. raging bull
6. goodfellas
7. taxi driver
8. city of god
9. ronin
10. usual suspects

That's a good list right there. Not sure about Requiem for a Dream at number one though.

Mind would be.

1. Deliverance
2. Alien
3. Heat
4. Jesus' Son
5. City of God
6. Taxi Driver
7. Life of Brian
8. Raising Arizona
9. A Guide to Recognising Your Saints
10. Jungle Book
11. Withnail & I

(Couldn't decide which one to leave out)

Without giving it a great deal of thought:

Godfather 1 & 2
The Sting
Rear Window
Pulp Fiction
Donnie Darko
The Usual Suspects
LOTR Trilogy
Gattaca
City of God
Oldboy

These lists are too difficult but this is what I'm feeling now (obviously I've tried to steer clear of the absolute classics because we don't want everyone's lists to be near enough exactly the same now do we?)

In no order:

About Schmidt
Before Sunrise/Sunset
Empire of the Sun
Hana-bi
Le Temps du Loup
Manhattan
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Princess Mononke
Rushmore
Se7en

Next week I'll probably look at this list and think that it's bullshit.

1. Deliverance
2. Alien
3. Heat
4. Jesus' Son
5. City of God
6. Taxi Driver
7. Life of Brian
8. Raising Arizona
9. A Guide to Recognising Your Saints
10. Jungle Book
11. Withnail & I

A screwball comedy with Nic Cage, better than the dark, brooding brilliance of the likes of Fargo, Blood Simple, No Country?

Yes says I!

Favs?

Ran (I think it's Kurosawa's best)
Godfather 1 & 2 (flawless. Al Pacino, Brando, De Niro, James Caan and Robert Duvall - need I say more?)
In the Mood for Love(Films do not look better than this. Great score and a brilliant non formulaic storyline to boot)
Das Boot (Felt as if you were in the sub with them. Probably the best war film ever)
Blade Runner(still looks drop dead. . .l)
Empire Strikes Back (lightsabres)
Ichi the Killer (Oldboy? not a patch on this one - Ichi was a fun comic book action style film. And unlike Oldboy, didn't try to be too clever)
Rosemary's Baby.(Probably the best chiller I've seen)
Sunset Blv(Gloria Swanson's performance in this movie must rank amongst the best ever, in fact I think it's probably the best by a female actor - well along with Vivian Leigh in Streetcar that is)
Terminator 2.(One's arguably the better film but T2 was made for the pictures. You had to have seen it on release to fully understand where I'm coming from)

We did a top 100 list a couple of years back(feck, 2 years ago??!)
I remember that (and Plech saying he wasn't going to blow his brains out on it which was to turn out to be very good advice).

1)In the Mood For Love
2)Three Colours: Blue, White, Red
3)Hiroshima mon amour
4)The Piano Teacher
5)Les enfants du paradis
6)La belle et la bête
7)Blue Velvet
8)Le quai des brumes
9)Orphée
10)Days of Being Wild

Bridge Over The River Kwai
Zulu
Goodfellas
The Good The Bad And The Ugly
Raging Bull

All brilliant.

Have you seen Woman of the Dunes?

That said, I thought Fallen Angels and Chungking were better than Days of Being Wild.

And come to think of it, I could've easily had Infernal Affairs and Raise the Red Lantern in my top ten.

I also love the Breakfast Club.

All brilliant.

Have you seen Woman of the Dunes?
They're all brilliant. No, I've got a bit of a hole in Japanese cinema, there's that one plus other 60s stuff plus Mizoguchi stuff which I should get round to.
