Your 10 Best Albums of the Decade.

Is it just me or was the 00s a shit decade for music?

I would struggle to come up with 5 really good albums, never mind 10.

Stuff I quite liked would include.

Radiohead - In Rainbows
My Morning Jacket - Z
Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
Ladyhawk - Ladyhawk
Death from Above 1979 - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine
Ray La Montagne - Trouble
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Sonny J - Disastro

Hmmm... That wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be...

Top 10 in no particular order:

At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command
Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
Converge - Jane Doe
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Tool - Lateralus
Hot Cross - Cryonics
Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
Circle Takes The Square - As the Roots Undo
Isis - Panopticon
Gospel - The Moon is a Dead World

Only for lazy feckers.

Okay....

Exactly, it kills me when people bitch and complain about music... learn to dig a bit

Sorry but forcing yourself to like music is a bit silly and seems to be 'following the fashion' to make oneself look cool and with it.

It's been a weak musical decade. This makes me lazy and uncool. So be it. Still been pants compared to the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.

EDIT: Just seen Pogue's post.

Yes it has, but that makes you lazy and uncool. Like me. Still, I'll go back to Neil Young.

I don't think anyone was suggesting you force yourself, the suggestion is that you simply haven't made enough of an effort to explore what new music there has been. I reckon I listen to between 5 and 10 new albums a week - and I won't like most and will carry on with my old favourites. But every few weeks I discover some amazing new band or album and have something new to add to my "old" favourites.

But if you don't look and sift through the crap (of which there is a lot - I don't even bother listening to the radio anymore) then you never find anything new.

I'd say I've given a good listen to alot of music and nothing has really stood out, that's why I went back to the older music. Interestingly most of my favourite music from this decade has been that which sounded most like bands/artists of the past.

City And Colour
Fleet Foxes
Bon Iver
etc.

Mastodon - Crack the Skye is the best album I´ve heard this decade by quite a distance.

It's got nowt to do with forcing. Just getting into Last FM and using it sensibly will open up new artists to listeners. Most of the new stuff i've heard since going online in '04 has been shit, but it's worth wading through tons of the stuff just to find the odd gem.

I would say you could find great music in every decade, if you looked hard enough. The last decade looking has just got dramatically easier, that's all.

I still don't think it compares when it comes to really great, seminal, ground-breaking albums. Not a patch on previous decades IMO. Quantity over quality.

Well, either that or I've officially become my dad :(
