Woodward set to stay on as Executive Vice Chairman

Predictable.

He always intended this. He wanted the ESL thing to blow over, deliver us a good transfer window and be in and amongst the title contenders at this point when the decision is announced.

It’s all gone to shit so he’s playing it as “I’m needed in this moment of crisis” instead.

This moment of crisis is down to him and him alone, his exit will begin the repairing process.

Exactly.

We should have known as soon as the media got briefed the whole: 'Ed may stay as a consultant line.' That was clearly flying a kite for the idea of Ed remaining involved with United beyond this year. Guess the social media metrics people told them the noise wouldn't be too bad.

The going's on in this club now just fascinates me. We will just keep getting further and further away from the real stuff, FOOTBALL.

Just asking - is it only players you cant wish injuries for without getting warning points?

Cheers to another 4 shit managerial appointments. Manchester United - where bad performance is rewarded.

Why the feck is the fellow who messed up three appointments needed to oversee the next interim/permanent one? Are his replacements even worse than him?!

Even leaving aside what I think about Woodward, how does this make any sense whatsoever? On the contrary, it would make perfect sense to have the new guy overseeing that hiring.

It's actually hilarious how badly run we've been since SAF retired.

You can't make it up.

There might be a Last Dance type documentary on this, but it'll just focus on mass failure after mass failure.

Maybe not, if they're planning on bringing in another banker to do the job.

Not sure what the benefit is. Is Poch banking on Woodward being above him if he was to become Utd manager? Weird how this story came out after all the major reputable sources said that Poch wants the job.

Great news. Imagine losing Woody as well as Ole in a short span of time — it would've been scarily similar to us letting both Fergie and Gill go simultaneously.

Look at his confident stature and majestic, all-encompassing gaze... if you think about it, everything went wrong when he had announced his upcoming departure. Big Ed is back baby, watch this space!

He was never leaving. I've been refreshing newsfeeds all through the summer for an official confirmation. When I realised we were being played like a fiddle. Didn't even hear anything about good candidates being contacted. It was the same mediocre regime getting their contracts renewed.

I actually think this is better than Arnold taking over…
It's not. Arnold is taking over as chief executive but not as executive vice chairman. The Athletic reported that he's willing to leave most of the footballing decisions to the football people at the club.

I think it's because he's the Executive Vice Chairman Manchester United deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll keep him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our Executive Vice Chairman.

This club handling the most important positions in the world of football like Uber Eats promo code.

So a guy who oversaw appointing 4 managers who all failed will oversee an appointment of a 5th one.

 This was always coming wasn't it. Once the next manager is hired, I wonder what the next excuse will be for him to extend his stay. Maybe they think if they keep prolonging his exit everyone will forget he resigned.

Well, now the boardroom is sorted hopefully the stuff that the coaching team have been preaching will all come together at once. We go again.
