Why don't we keep clean sheets anymore?

We get run through multiple times every game, our midfield and attack do not defend either well enough or at all, as good as our defence might be they can’t defend wave after wave of attacks.

I know going into the West Ham game we had conceded more counter attacks than anyone else in the league and in games since (like the Villarreal game) it seemed like an inability to function in defensive transition was our achilles heel there too.

Basically we struggle to control the game well enough to either supply a constant stream of good chances or nullify threats on the counter. And by "control" I don't mean possession so much as structure. Once we surrender possession it's too easy to cut through us.

That said, clean sheets aren't measure I'd use to judge.

We won't be keeping a clean sheet in 2021, our only hope is watford!

More than half the goals we concede is not because the opposition out classed us but because of basic defensive errors that are easily avoidable.

One game we kept a clean sheet in was Wolves away and we should have conceded at least one there  Worrying.

We have a calamity named Harry Maguire in the middle of our defence managed by a manager who's got zero clue about organizing a defence. What did you expect? £80m for Maguire was the biggest robbery in the history of football. And it's nothing new. He's always been shit. Please stop pretending this guy's decent. He's not. He's not a Man United first XI defender. Never in a million years.

Maybe Ole can find another set piece coach to help us out, he at least seems lost at this defense malarkey.

Clean sheets?

The guilty should be put on early morning laundry duty the next day

  1. By failing to score or take a comfortable lead in the first half.
  2. Unable to control possession in the middle of the park. Allowing opposition to attack easily.
  3. Chasing after goals late in the 2nd half. Leaving the defense open.
  4. Brain fart defending.
  5. Set pieces still a weakness.

Will anyone still defend this midtable defender? He's not good enough to be here let alone being a captain. It's a feckin joke. I hope he leaves with Ole.
