Why didn't we give it Carrick until the end of the season?

We beat PSG and thrashed Leizig and beat City a few times under Ole too. It does not mean that Carrick is a top coach just because we won a couple of games under him.

Man, this is difficult. Let's be honest: when he left, things slowly deteriorated. Yes he was a big part of Ole's team, but clearly the players played for him. This is no excuse for the shite behaviour since Ralf has taken over. I think part of this generation doesn't play for the pure joy of, well, winning. Hey, I know this could be said for other generations, too, but come on, it's the worst its ever been, no? I know, I might get stung for being too romantic, but feck that off. These people are paid more than should to compete their arses off and they are not. One of the reasons I started supported United, 1996, was because, among other attributes, they competed so hard!

Because that's not how fans work.

An ex united player is average at management - so all ex players United are average at Management.

An English player is average at United, all English players are average in the world at football.

If you put the young SAF as assistant manager, he would have produced something, just like he managed to convince everyone when he was under jock stein. Words comes out. And from behind the screen he would have garner positive word of mouth.

Carrick is coach for 3 years and ole himself says he doesnt train much. So it's all down to either carrick or mckenna.

I just find the notion that he's somehow any good if he's the manager laughable. If he's that good he would have shown something else this last 3 years.

We rely too much on romantics. "Oh he's a neat midfielder would be a fine manager" or ole is an attacker he would make a nice attacking team" or "ole is a supersub he'd gonna make good use of his sub", which mainly based on nothing other than 1+1=9

Because carrick was part of the problem. Let rangnick work with them closely before he moves upstairs. It will give him a lot of current issues at the club and players first hand. Its all good. Not expecting a shiny new building without ripping put the basement.

Are you sure that's why or it's because said ex-players are getting huge positions at the club with no CV, track record or qualifications? I mean who in their right mind is lamenting Carrick not getting the job? This is irrational kneejerk because he was already part of the regime of the guy that freshly got sacked.

Ridiculous idea, Carrick hasn’t got a clue - then only person who thought so was Ole, who also, you know, didn’t have a clue. We’ve now got a professional manager who has experience at actually managing, applying tactics and strategic match planning; let’s not inculcate this crap to a 5 game run knee jerking our thinking this way and that; it’s how we needed up with Ole in the first place…
Also we go from ‘give the manager time as it’s the United way - 2 or 3 years into the tenure of various past it fools who have zero idea to ‘we’re 5 games in and I can’t see the patterns of play I expected for a top 3 well coached team - 5 games in’ : couldn’t make it up..

That's good as it does not include Fletcher as he is not English.

An unbelievable amount of people on here were so unfair to Carrick when he was caretaker manager, the performances were apparently far from good enough, and now we have most likely some of the same folk legitimately wondering why he wasn't given to the end of the season?
