We will win the league this season | Champions as it Stands

City play Spurs today, its firmly in their hands, but knowing Spurs, it can be in their hands too, if they let go of the cheese for a minute.
I reckon is in our hands, since spurs and city haven't shown there's yet.

I still think we need a striker who won't be 35 by the end of the season and a CM to really push City for the title. But yesterday was a hell of a way to start the season

I can only hope it bears semblance to our 06/07 season - similar start, people asking where are the goals going to come from after RVN's departure which resulted in us using the more fluid interchangeable forwards system (Rooney/Ronaldo becoming worldclass - hopefully Sancho/Greenwood/Martial/Rashford come close), the emergence of vidic and evra as worldclass defenders - parallel to Maguire and Shaw, we got Carrick in - either we finesse what we have aka Pogba excelling in hybrid role with McFred stepping up even more or we get a deep lying playmaker/ DM in before the transfer window closes

The team will need to perform well to get the title. I think this is where the club lack, the quality of performance typically last season was lacking. If Ole does go with the 433 and it sees United controlling more games then it's certainly an open debate.

Central / deep midfield (Fred, Mctomminay, Matic) and the goalkeeping positions are areas of concern. Remains to be seen what type of season De Gea will have can Henderson step up ? Who knows.

We need to capitalise on this first set of fixtures.
Chelsea, Liverpool and City have harder fixtures, so we need to get ahead while we have the chance.

Delighted we not only got past Leeds but drubbed them, all before Varane and Sancho have got going, and without Cavani and Rashford.

What a way to greet our next club legend. Remember the day boys, the day Varane came to Manchester

We will stay in 1st for the remainder of the season. From the end of gameweek 1 until the end of gameweek 38.

Our squad is good enough to challenge this year. It's not perfect, but neither is City's. I'd take one of either Cavani or Greenwood every day of the week over Torres AND Jesus. And Chelsea's biggest piece of business is Lukaku. A good striker but hardly world class.

Hopefully City are having one of their drop a gear after winning the league seasons.

And obviously, Liverpool not having a magical one...and erm Chelsea.

Just the 3 teams to better!

Well they won the CL like prime Barca. I reckon they'll finish ahead of us. They had issues in the first half of the season as well and they fixed them by bringing in Tuchel.

2012 Chelsea beat even better sides and won the CL, doesn't mean they were a title contender either. Tuchel fixed them defensively but they scored less than 60 goals in the league and almost bottled a top 4 spot in the final couple weeks.

Afaik, they were way behind when he took over and brought them back into it. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't have even been competing for that.

And you're right about 2012 Chelsea but that team was pretty lucky. They were often outplayed and won with a penalty shootout. Last year, Chelsea beat Real and City and deserved it.

The league will be won by the most consistent of the current big four. In that equation the high press teams will continue to have a major advantage because that strategy, when implemented well by quality players, is almost impossible for the lesser teams to live with, even when luck goes their way. If City and Liverpool have everyone fit, they will grind out victories even on days when they look out of ideas and inspiration.

My feelings haven't changed at all after the first round of fixtures, I still think it's gonna be between us and Liverpool this season. I expect that only these 2 teams will be realistically in the race by matchday 25-30

We will certainly win the title if we sign a proven DM.
Our quick passing and movement reminds me of how Italy play. Saw that in the matches against Brentford, Everton and now Leeds.
Sunday will be the big test. How we play against a defensive or Low block team.
Will Dalot get a run out as the alternative to Trippier? Lets see what Ole does.

As for the Pogba situation, I think Ole will squeeze what he can out of him this season and let him leave in the summer because we wont match what he wants. Title or not he will go to PSG I think.

I feel very positive about how we are playing and even if we do not get anyone else in the next two weeks we have a good chance at the title.

Even if we get a good DM and Trippier or we keep Dalot, we still need to allow for Ole's usual poor game management as the Southampton match proved.

Interesting that you think a manager that was responsible for god knows how many wins from a losing position has poor in game management.

I’m wondering, do those victories not count as credit for him and it’s only the matches which don’t work out that can be held against him?

Unfortunately games where we threw away points tend to be memorable for the wrong reasons. And far too often. We have a strong squad/players and are expected to turn around results.
The way we went out of the CL and lost the EL Final are examples.

His weakness for not being ruthless stands out. The Southampton match has been discussed elsewhere and I wont go into it here.

The Liverpool draw was a good result for us. We massively need to win tomorrow to get back level at the top (provided Spurs don’t win but not worried about them because it’s Spurs).

Too much talent in this team. Lucky city didn’t sign Kane. I see us as comfortable favorite. Only difference is our competition has pep, Klopp, and Tuchel, which might prevent that from happening.

Imagine seeing us play under Ole for three years and thinking we will win the league. I want what he's having!
