I thought Neighbours and Home & Away was the best tv the convicts could make but I loved this show, I believe there has been a second series made a prequel to the 1st has anyone seen it? how does it compare to the first series?

Haha, didn't realist this show got screened in other countries. It's a pretty good show that's about 60% factually correct (just yesterday they had Mick Gatto on one of the radio stations I listen too, who said the show was fluffed up here and there).

On a side note Lewis Moran was seeing my aunty-in-law for the last 8/9 years before he was murdered. That's how I roll.

BTW you do realise it was you guys that were the actual convicts, not us.

I didn't watch it on the basis that all Aussie drama is shit but maybe I should take a look. Series 2 was set in the 80's but I didn't think it was a prequel as such was it?

The first season was bloody good. Obviously amped up and over-the-top in terms of camera, music and acting, but it comes together quite well as long as you don't expect it to be something it's not.

Season 2 was nowhere near as good unfortunately. It's not a true prequel as it's completely different people and different city too I think, but there are a few links to what would happen 'later' in the first season with a couple of little cameos thrown in. Still watchable, but to some extent you're watching it just to watch it, not enjoying it and looking forward to next weeks episode.

They are making a third series as well. Hopefully it'll be as good as the first one, but I doubt it to be honest.

It's interesting to see how many of the people that were in Underbelly (mostly the first season but also a few from the second) that have gone on to star in new Australian shows. Rush has quite a few, and it's my favourite Australian show for a long time, and arguably the best cop show out there. It keeps itself interesting, but it just feels more 'realistic' than any other crime show. Rescue Special Ops also has a few people from Underbelly.

MadDogg is correct I reckon: series 1 is an absolute belter, set in Melbourne, series 2 is not as good (though, I think, still well worth watching), set predominantly in Sydney with bits of Melbourne in it too. The best thing about series 2 is that Chopper is in it - not played by Eric Bana, obviously, but for those who loved the film it is entertaining to see where he fits in.

My mate who lives in Oz put me on to this and told me series 2 was wank so I was pleasantly surprised, it isnt bad at all. But yeah, series 1 is up there among some of the best shows I have seen in recent years.

Season 2 is miles ahead of season 1, which I thought was ok but a bit to OTT.

Season 2 was very good.

But neither are 'great'
