I'm convinced the Italians know much more than the British press. They seem to by and large stick to their guns that a deal is going through, the British press is all over the place contradicting themselves every 5 minutes. When the only wiff of solidarity is lead by The Mirror you know they're clueless.

I would say it was 100% Rio

Rio in the team: McDonnell was the first one on Twitter with the correct line-up
Rio not in the team: McDonnell has said a few times "No Ferdinand in the squad" 2 hours before the start of our games

If this is true then Rio needs a slap around the head with a wet kipper.

Some Taylor tweets worth reading.

@dtguardian any news regarding vidal to united mate?

@GuneetMUFC only what you've probably seen . . there's only a couple on Utd beat working at moment and they've been told it's untrue

SO the press are divided by nationality, the Italians are saying the deal is on and the English can't get their stories straight? Am I understanding this correctly? Who is reliable and what are they saying?

The reliable ones are saying it's on. The unreliable ones are saying it's off.

That's how I choose to see it anyway.

Why choose him? He was awful at Barca.
Tata just didn't suit Barca. He is a good coach though. He reached the quarter finals with Paraguay at WC 2010, became runners-up in Copa America 2011 and won the Primera Division in Argentina (Final) with Newell's Old Boys in 2013. Was just a goal from the Spanish La Liga title as well. He'd do well as the Argentina national coach.

Ok. These journalists all seem to have no senior sources at United, and they've all been briefed the same. Not really briefed as they think they have a legit source, which doesn't seem to be the case. Mitten on the other hand, was the one who "kinda" broke the SAF news with his tweet.

English press doesn't know shit, again. Like in the good old days. So I really think that those journalists have been told these things just to save face, in case the pursuit doesn't come to fruition a la Fabregas. Personally I'm just happy that Moyes is gone and that with Van Gaal it will be an exciting season again and that the future looks good again. If that includes a certain Vidal remains to be seen.

Judging by the Taylor tweets, are these journalists robots without any way of thinking for themselves? (I'd guess yes, all they seem to do is repeat what they're told)

"We were told they are not interested in Vidal".

No investigation, a bit of critical thinking or even a little bit of guess work as to why they would say this? They just take it, write an article and publish it.

I guess. And I do honestly know theres a huge difference between club and national teams, but in my book you're only as good as your last job.

By any chance this is going this way because Italian press dislike Juventus and English press dislikes United?

The English press doesn't dislike United every other opposition fan dislikes United and the press sell papers (and hits) from that.

This is Interesting.

It seems Gazetta were actually right in all their briefing in the Conte sacking article. They named Allegri and Mancini as frontrunners.

Now for the United have upped the offer to 44 million euros and agreed a deal part, let's see.

As far as I can tell...

The journalists who have sources at our club have been told it's off (and even that there has been no contact at all). This either means it's actually off or that the club is refusing to admit it's on.

The exception to this is Andy Mitten who says he has been told it's on. Whether his sources are more reliable than those of the other journos remains to be seen.

The Italian press also seem to think the deal is on and Vidal himself appear to have indicated that it's a possibility.

Imo it seems extremely unlikely that the deal isn't at least somewhat on.

fecking Nani, because of his wage demands 20m down the drain (there was an 25m offer accepted by Zenit in 2012, but they couldn't agree on his wages.)

Sky reports that Nani's estimated value is in the vicinity of €7-8m. He currently earns €3.5m per season.

I agree.

They have a habit of loving to talk teams up and wishing them success, then when the team achieves a certain level they love trying to paint a not so nice picture. Look at the love in with Arsenal and Liverpool last year. As soon as Arsenal started to fall away, they got blasted or at least Wenger did. The Scousers didn't let it slip until late, but you can imagine what they are going to get if they don't do as well as last year. United can't be any worse than last year, but if it goes well, we will hear LVG football genius, if not he is going to get some bashing.

The ABU fans will have their usual field day, success and we bought it or cheated or ref's favourite, failure and we are mid-table, wasted money ...etc.

The thing with these journalists is, they never stick to one story. Hows someone on the radar and we dont talk to the team selling him? What would we be waiting for, Especially after the debacle last season? If one of those guys can explain that to me then i will trust them.
