the Michael Jackson tribute/documentary/movie is out today in the cinemas for 2 weeks and looks to be an interesting watch, especially for MJ fans. From the trailers i've seen it seems to show Jackson fit and well performing some pretty strenuous dance routines and certainly not a man about to die.

Anybody managed to see it yet or planning to see it? I've got a ticket for the 8:30pm showing this evening so will be able tp provide some feedback for anybody interested.

Saw a trailer for it when I went to the cinema the other day, looked worth a watch.

Is it a standard cinema ticket price or they marked them up?

Would like to hear if it's any good man, no cinema's round here are going to be showing it so I am probably going to have to go to Swansea or Cardiff to see it, want to know if it is worth the trip.

By "especially", you actually mean "only", don't you?

yeah standard ticket prices, the cinema was heaving when I drove past before so i'd imagine that'll be the case across the country, for the first couple of days at least.

Yeah i'll let you know, for me I think it'll be really good to see some of his routines and his songs on the big screen. I'm looking forward to it.

Well pretty much yeah, but there'll be the morbid few who rather than watch it to see if he was any good will watch to see if he looked close to death!

from what i gather its sold out around my way fecking madness

Really, thats pretty mad.

apparently alot of the fans* are boycotting it because it doesnt address his health issues and portrays him to be in perfect health which obviously wasnt the case

and im sure i heard that his family have claimed that stand ins were used for parts of the film

*most of them probably mentalists

Well if it were to portray him as being ill and frail then it'd not be the ideal thing to release and have fans remember him by would it?

It was never going to be anything other than a glowing tribute to the man otherwise his family would never have allowed it.

Really, thats pretty mad.

Not as mad as this JG:

"who's BAD....... shammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmon - eeeee-heeeeee..."

no but would at least be factual

Well i'll let you know after seeing it whether it comes across as being a true portrayal or not.

For his fans this is the best way to do it imo.

Yeah that is pretty mad, the crazy bastard

So I take it you're a big fan JG?

Of course, like most people, I like some of his stuff but not all of it. He was an icon in many respects - added with alot of mystique surrounding him too. Hard to understand what was goin on with him though, but there'll never be another like him thats for sure - unless maybe Kanye West - in his own fecking head that is

Posted this in the other thread, didn't know this existed (thread) until now.

This Is It was released today, saw it earlier, and its fecking brilliant...you've gotta go and watch it (at the cinema!).

The sequences for Smooth Criminal, Earth Song, Thriller are on another level...the greatest entertainer ever.

Wouldn't say a big fan, like many i like a lot of the music he made and am fascinated by the man. It'll be an interesting insight into how he was as a person because the last thing I saw him in was that bashir documentary which didn't really show him in a positive light.

He was a great entertainer, one of the all time greats though and so it'll be a good thing to see at the cinema. I hope too that the majority of viewers are older so a packed cinema won't so much of a hell hole!

Who gets the pleasure of milking the profits from this cash cow?

I'd like to think a large chunk will go to charity seeing as his family probably aren't short of a few bob. Probably not happen though.

Bill - this is begs to differ mate:

Hmmm 9' clearance and there looks to be about 4.5' between the water and the bridge. I think that may well have trumped my understatement!

Honestly though, if you pay money to go see 'Michael Jackson Rehearsing For A Concert: The Movie', you're pretty dumb.

Dont think I am gonna see this, there is talk that it could break the box office record which I find a bit laughable

Just back from watching it and have to say it really was worth watching. It's such a shame that he never got chance to perform that concert in front of thousands because it really would have sealed his place as the worlds finest ever entertainer. I'd never fully appreciated what he did behind the scenes music wise, but the man really was a genius. he had great input in every aspect of the show and the film just shows you what love he had for what he was doing. I don't know where the death thing is all upto and what the latest theories there are but he looked anything but a man depressed as i've read in places. he looked at times on top of the world. Some parts of the songs weren't his actual voice because a lot of the time he was saving it for the actual shows, but when he did sing you heard he still had that voice. Thriller looked fantastic too.

All in all a film anybody who is a fan of his music should make an effort to watch as i'm sure it'll not disappoint at all. As I said at the start though it's such a shame it never happened because it would have been a hell of a show.

just got back from seeing it, bittersweet as I was in awe at his ability but sad that I had missed out and had to get a refund for what woulda been an unforgettable show at the O2 :(

Hmm.. wasn't going to go watch it, but you've convinced me otherwise.

Good to hear you enjoyed it man - good stuff

Great idea on having the unlimited card, definitely gonna get that sorted soon enough, i've put it off far too long & it saves a shit load of hassle. Cheers for the prompting!
