There seems to be a bit of a revival in recent years of the brass band, with younger players forming groups as influnenced by hip-hop and soul as much as jazz and making some great uptempo, funky music that works incredibly well live.

I was trawling through youtube the other day after recently picking up the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble cd on Honest Jons (Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - Hypnotic Brass Ensemble : Honest Jon's Records) and hearing the Hot 8 album (http://www.***-thoughts.co.uk/releases/Hot-8-Brass-Band/TRU141) so thought I'd post a few:

There's just something about the sound of brass that I love, it's great to see so many bands keeping the traditions alive, it would be great to go to New Orleans for the carnival with all the competing bands.

I'm sure I can sneak some Skatalites into this thread too
