The Killzone 2 Thread

Thank god, no moving pictures to load. I think I've seen half the game already.

Shame there isn't no co-op play on this. They should add it on. It was great when I played games like Rainbow 6 Vegas or COD5 with my bro (apart from cod5 not saving the game after 2 hours play and making you start again - what the funk!)

I did read that you use six-axis when sniping as a way to keep it steady.

They have said that they can't add splitscreen co-op because the engine can't handle two people being in different places at the same time (probably a memory constraint) - it would probably need a serious degrade in the graphics. They could in theory add online co-op I would suppose.

Wooooooot!

Sony has said that the European Killzone 2 playable demo will be made available through the PlayStation Store this Thursday, 5th February.

The demo consists of the first two sections of Corinth River, which is the first proper level of the game, so you'll finally get to run through the beach landing and warehouse sequence that's formed the basis of so many previews.

There's also a tutorial - the same one that features in the main game.

Not going to get much done on Thursday if that is true.

brlliant, i was hoping a demo would come out before its release, ill give it a go at the weekend,

lots of gaming to be done this weekend then with the burnout DLC too

Are you going to be running it on your demo station?
Haha no, I can imagine the complaints already from angry mothers. We just got promo blu-rays and posters. Our PS3 demo station sent straight back to Sony 'cause the design of it was retarded. We've just got one sitting on a shelf hooked up to the KDL46Z4500 in 200hz playing GT5 Prologue.:drool::drool:

Make of that what you will.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/feb/05/david-reeves-sony-europe-losses

PS3 games sales are up 53% and there's a healthy 1.1m pre-order book for Killzone 2, the first of a new batch of IPs that Sony will be counting on.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=207519

"The 1.1m pre-orders are for Europe only and that's [as] of last week," Sony told us after the figure was reported in today's Guardian.

I'm sure that they are quite happy with that. 1.1m pre-orders as of last week. Only 2-3 hours to wait for the demo now.

Somebody let us know the size of the demo download - cheers!

I was wondering whether to pre-order this - amazon, play, and shopto etc all have it for around £30 - cheap for a brand new game! Thing is though, I never pre-ordered FIFA (£35-£40) and instead bought it on the day at ASDA for £30...

Mines crawling too.

Initial reactions from boards seem to be brilliant graphics but the controls are heavy and take some getting used to.

Bit similiar to RE5 really.

Downloading now

Not sure of the progress cause the missus is in Little Big Planet mode

Ehhh. Very short demo with nothing resembling an "OH MY GOD!" moment, not exactly the best way to show off a game that has been getting excellent reviews for what obviously occurs later in the game.

It ends at such a shitty moment as well.

Thats mad, such short notice though.

Abit busy now so will download it overnight and give it a shot tomorrow.

erm is that it? it took me 11 mins 4 seconds to complete the demo didnt die at all, its pretty good, nothing ground breaking tho, will most likely buy it tho, cant stand the sensitivity on the analogue sticks tho, makes aiming hard

What do some of you want froma demo? an hour of a 10 hour game? It's also on a very easy difficulty level so not to put casual gamers off I would expect. As for the controls, I think every review has commented on the fact that you need time to get used to them.

As for nothing ground breaking? Look at the bloody thing.

10 minutes would be fine if they were interesting and perhaps had any sort of a climax or cliffhanger to whet the appetite. As it is they do nothing even remotely special with what is essentially their biggest promotional tool to existing PS3 owners.

Playing this demo is completely different to watching little looped bits of impressive action over and over.

In all fairness, anyone who plays that demo and decides they don't want to buy the full game is a bit of a weirdo.

It's the best-looking game I've played on the PS3 so far (well, Drake's Progress runs it close) Forking amazing graphics. Proper Next Gen gaming. I'm ordering mine tommorow

I've got no interest in buying K2 as I'm not a FPS fan but I downloaded the demo to see what it was like and it graphically its amazing, I'm useless at shooters so I died a couple of times but it was still quite fun.

I didn't find the controls heavy at all by the way.

Mind you I'm not an online FPS freak. I don't even play games that much these days. But even I can see this is a massive leap forward in console gaming. Graphics are freakishly good. Right up there with the best CGI movies that Hollywood was producing barely 3 or 4 years ago.

Mental stuff. Can't fecking wait to get my hands on a copy.

I don't find them heavy either, if anything the default controls are a little bit too sensitive for me. Like Pogue, I'm not someone that has spent hundreds of hours online playing twitchy shooters with auto-aiming (something this is not and does not have).

Have you tried it with all of the onscreen information turned off? It feels better that way to me, but becomes a little more difficult.
