This game has been hyped an slated ever since it was first shown as a CG target render at E3 2005. Sony forgot to tell people that it wasn't actually running on a PS3 in realtime, even confusing much of the press.

All right, it's Killzone 2. Although the original game wasn't very warmly received, Guerrilla is back with Killzone 2, and at this point, it's definitely the talk of the show.

Although the footage of Killzone 2 is fairly brief, it manages to walk viewers through an entire landing sequence. It opens with nothing but a shot of clouds, but quickly pulls back to reveal human faces. And oh, what faces they are. The fidelity and reality of the models here are frankly unbelievable, easily matching fully CGI Hollywood films of just a few years ago. It's not too difficult to imagine something like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within rendered in real time with the Killzone 2 engine. The models and animations here are so smooth, in fact, that it's tempting to assume that the Killzone 2 footage is prerendered or somehow doctored, but if it is all in-engine, and we have no reason to believe that it's not, then it's going to be hard to imagine a game coming along during E3 that's more visually impressive than this.

3 years has passed, but it's finally approaching release and has probably only been put back so that it doesn't steal Resistance 2s thunder. Many have questioned it, including myself, as possibly ending up as nothing more than a huge graphical orgy or a technical demo for PS3, but for me now I think that they have nailed it (we will only really know for sure when they release it). Graphically though, it's the most impressive thing you have ever seen running off console hardware bar none.

Forget your Gears of War, forget your Uncharted, this is in a league of its own.

O_o what pretty graphics Weaste. Its ridiculous how much hype this game is getting considering the massive let down that was KZ1 (which had similar hype, "halo killer" looool), you may say that well it was the media that hyped up the first one so much, not sony's fault (which btw would be incorrect) then isn't it the same media thats hyping up this one now?

Like I said before wait for a decent review before people wank themselves to death about this game because we all know what happened the last time we did so over a KZ game;)

To be fair Gears of War 2 also looks pretty immense graphically.

I'm starting to get a bit bored of first person shooters, admittedly this game looks pretty stunning but then I've never really been overly bothered about graphics. Wasn't really too excited over KZ1, so will wait and see what everyone says before I decide to get this game or not.

Graphics performance can have large infuences on gameplay in many ways. Framerate being the worst culprit, and KZ1 did have serious framerate problems, something this does not have. So there is +10 for a start.

I hate FPS, think I've only bought two in my life (Alien Trilogy & Duke Nukem 3D), but the videos of this do look quite nice.

that looks so cool. any word on weaponry? I like games to have lots of different guns. It's one thing that really left GTAIV wanting and made MGS4 a fantastic game.

That's one problem with rag doll (probably PhsyX), it can sometimes be tough to properly weight bones and/or muscle mass, hence why you get occasions when the parts sometimes act like they are on 'ice'. Another reason that could be is that it's set up statically to be impressive for explosions or cool weapons, but not changed on the fly (which admittedly is pretty intensive and probably not doable on this current generation to any kind of large degree) to a heavier mass for realistic movement once collided with something else of a similar mass.

If that makes any sense to anyone.

So what your saying is.....

they concentrated all the physics for when ya want to blow shit up but when it came to the details they couldn't be bothered and went to the pub?:smirk:

Kidding

Ahh, you know too much. Expect someone round to dispatch of you shortly ;)

I've already crafted a dummy of myself with a series of pullies and strings.

Since they couldn't be arsed with body physics, it should have them stumped for quite a while:D

No, we'll all probably stand around for an hour discussing your system and debating it's pros and cons, before heading down to the nearest pub and having an argument over why it would and wouldn't be feasible in some kind of stupid simulation.

Well they would, I'd already be half way to a coma with a bottle of JD in my hand.

Well, yes. Are we assuming that it's PhsyX? It's still an early build, so we'll see.

This looks brilliant so far, I am looking forward to it. Hope it does not disappoint.
