I bloody love grunge, one genre that I personaly realy want to see come back.

Any other Grunge lovers on the Caf?

I love Grunge. He lives in Canada I think - hasn't posted for ages.

He should come back - he'd be so thrilled to see a thread for him. :D

I was only listening to Everything Zen this morning

(bush are only imitation grunge though!)

I do like the new Pearl Jam song.

I'm not that much familiar with the grunge apart from the most known bands like Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Screeming Trees, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots. Probably forgetting some band.

Didn't know Bush was regarded as grunge.

I love grunge too. It was one of the first styles of music that I fell in love with. I doubt it will ever make a comeback though as it was a sound that represented a particular time and place.

I'd say Bush are a band influenced by grunge but can't really be regarded as a grunge band.

Good call with Mother Love Bone, Eyepopper. They were an awesome band and it's a shame their career was so short.

genres are such a load of balls.

How the feck are mudhoney and alice in chains supposed to be in the same genre...one is garage fuelled rocknroll and the other is turgid metal-lite.

mudhoney, Tad , nirvana and screaming trees were the best of that particular era

pearl jam had a couple of good songs.

alice in chains were shit

I love the grunge, some good stuff posted on here. I'm going to see Pearl Jam on tuesday and I can't wait.

Pearl Jam had more than a couple of good songs Sam, more like 3 or 4 brilliant albums.

Alice in Chains were far from shit.

I agree, genres are shit but like it or not they were all lumped in together.

Some great music around in the early 90's.

well as we know pops thats the beauty of music and opinions, no one has the same outlook on this sort of thing so we'll just have to disagree on the awfulness of Alice in chains and the merits of pearl jams albums.

oh and Bush are fecking dire and of course not "grunge" at all (if such a thing exists)

no :nono:

Say it with me now sammy...

'Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains are brilliant.....'

do it

Of course there were also some excellent side project bands that sprung up around that time...

Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains are brilliant at making shite music that dullards seem to think is worth listening to wherein reality its just as exciting and vital and listenable as fecking stryper or poison...they are cnuts and so are the people who still listen to this fecking muck, the cloth eared cuntwits

Anybody who doesn't like Pearl Jam is quite simply deaf.

Mark Lahnegan (?sp) is still writing great music. Bubblegum is ace.

I was a massive fan of grunge back in the day. Liked all of them really. Anyone remember that movie sound-track which basically consisted of an A to Z of all the best grunge acts? Can't remember the name of it for the life of me. It was sort of white, with a blueish photo of people sitting down on the cover?

The Singles soundtrack

Mark Lanegan is still pumping the stuff out and great stuff at that. The albums he's done with Isobel Campbell, the Gutter Twins and hsi solo stuff is well worth checking out.. all very prominent in my music collection

I fecking LOVE him, I've spent years trying to write like him!

I adore grunge, unfortunately the only ones left of that era are Pearl Jam since now Chris Cornell has turned into a Justine Timberlake wannabe, singing shallow R'N'B tunes. It's sure there won't be a Soundgarden reunion :annoyed:

or has a discerning taste in music and recognises them for the lumpen purveyors of poo they generally are.

do the evolution is a good song though...at least that has some balls to it.

its truly amazing that mudhoney and pearl jam both came out of the same band....thank feck for musical differences.

They may not to be your taste what you regard as grunge sammymc, but your mad to call those bands shit, you need your head checked.

I dont believe in "grunge" burndog...i use my own classification when it come to music...Good and Bad.

mudhoney = good

alice in chains = bad

And sing like him ;)

(at least he was the first person I thought of when you first posted your own stuff)

I get that a bit, I dont consciously try and sound like him (who could!) and personally I actually dont think I sound like him, just a similar style.

whiskey for the holy ghost is a great album.

Yep, thats a great album, as is bubblegum.

this is a very underrated album that came out of the whole grunge/alternative rock thing

featuring matt cameron and ben shepard from soundgarden, john mcbain from monster magnet and brian wood (brother of andrew of mother love bone)

some of you should check it out (though probably not if you like bush or alice in chains)

... and who could forget these find young ladies.

Throwing used tampons at the crowd or not my life goal for about 2 years was to ride the bass player!

and some classic performance from Nirvana

God its all taking me back... hard to believe it was all nearly 20 years ago!
