"The dressing room is just a disaster"

I love the image that the term “confiding” as though there was this real heart to heart, not just a casual conversation like “how’s the mood in the dressing room?” “fecking shite to be honest mate, can’t wait for it to be over”
Well, use whatever words you want but even if it pissed me off, I would not share what Lingard told me in front of the world because he won't get any benefit out of it and might damage his mate.

In any case, good riddance to Lingard as far as I'm concerned.

So Lingard confirmed as a leak thanks to Scholes

And we all know how Scholes likes foot in mouth action

Oh I entirely agree that Scholes is entirely the one in the wrong.

Right, but somehow, giving his opinion on what the dressing room is damaging.

Let's say any players next year are sharing 'opinions' on what the dressing room to ex-players outside the club is like under ETH, I personally, would be fuming if I was ETH. Especially ex-players who are pundits too.

I do agree in some way, players should be allowed to be giving their opinions on what it's like behind the scenes, don't get my wrong. But to me, anything negative or to create more toxicity should be kept in house, not shared. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

Let's be clear about something, they do share their opinions, the people they share it with just have more respect than Scholes showed today. Surely you don't actually believe that players aren't talking to friends and family in private?

Can anyone imagine working in a team that consistently underperforms at work that wouldn't turn into a disaster.

Given the state we're in I'd fecking hope the mood is a disaster. (Not an excuse for anyone, everyone, players, coaches, "consultants" has underpeformed at United for a decade now)

Roll on the new manager, who needs to stop players taking the piss. Sir Alex would have had them out on their ears for all the shite Ralf is having to deal with.
I hope that Jesse realises he's part of the problem and shouldn't be taking shite out of school.

To be clear the leak would be Scholes not Lingard. The leakage is when an information goes from a private circle to a public circle or is shared to reach the public. Lingard sharing his opinion privately with Scholes isn't leaking anything, the leakage is when Scholes shares that private thought to the public.

The leak is when it goes from th club to the press. Lingard is club. Scholes is press. He could be Lingard’s wife, irt’s still Lingard who’s leaking. If Lingard wanted to minimize the leak, he could have told Scholes ‘this is off the record’ or something, which he pretty clearly didn’t do, but even then it’s really just based on trust that the press person doesn’t bring it further, it’s not legally binding or anything.

Mind you, I think leaking is important at times, as all the ‘keep it in the company’ is a suspect cultural praxis in itself, and whistleblowing is incredibly important.

This, though, sounds like shitholery.

Did we win something? Love it when they celebrate and create chaos brilliant.. can someone tell me what we won?

I remember David James saying that when he was on England duty he could never get anything out of the United lads in terms of what it was like at United because they were so tight lipped and guarded. The club is unrecognizable from the Fergie years.

Our former players don’t help at all which I don’t get the rational behind it. It’s like they find joy in United being bad so people can always go back to reminisce how great the old United were back in the day?

Barely do you hear Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, City former players criticizing their club every chance they get. Even during the new manager search all you heard was how most ex players prefer Poch. It’s going to get worse now since their favorite Poch wasn’t giving the job. Every little mistake by Ten Hag will be blown out of proportion.
And this is why the club needs to back him publicly. Anything they disagree with him about should be dealt with privately. However, in public, give him all the backing. You have to cut that shit narrative off as much as you can. also, Any players caught moaning about the way he trains them, should be out the door.

This is what I want for us again.

When Rangnick calls out the dressing room atmosphere, he's a hero.

When Lingard/Scholes do it, they're villains.

The dressing room is toxic and Lingard has a loose tongue.

Nothing has been learnt today.

This is why I've always rated the player exodus under LvG as the true beginning of our decline.

Moyes was just a sub-par manager, but the squad could have still been salvaged after him. It was when LvG went and decimated it that he truly cut us off from the win-or-die dressing room culture that Fergie had built our success on.

What exactly is the problem? Groups that hate each other? Scholls and Jlinz can both piss off though

Surely we should be more annoyed it's happening than Lingard saying it?

What is happening? The dressing room is a disaster doesn't really mean anything, unless he elaborated on TV.

Unless he means what McT keeps referring to. I thought his comments would get more discussion than this.

I don't know
That's why I categorised it as 'information' rather than opinion to be honest. Lingard would have told Scholes a lot more on everything that is going in the dressing room rather than him just telling Scholes 'it's a disaster', it ain't opinion to me personally - it's what's going on.

Who told you that he just said that?

It obviously means there is a pile of infighting and players aren’t getting along with each other.

100%

Rangnick said the same thing and the Caf rejoiced at his honesty.

Unfortunately for Lingard, his reputation precedes him. He could find the cure for cancer and half of this forum would still have a go at him for failing to do the same for AIDS.

Ole was so naive it’s incredible. And our senior leadership team was equally naive in giving Ole so much responsibility so early in his management career. Training ground terrorists like Lingard have been allowed to drop bombs and run fecking riot all season. It’s all got to change, and quickly.

Don't really see why people are attacking Lingard here. If he made an offhand comment to a friend saying 'it's a disaster at the moment', what's so wrong with that? It's obvious to us all (Rangnick is basically saying the same thing publicly) and doesn't necessarily mean Lingard isn't taking any responsibility for his own role. The one who looks bad here is Scholes outing Lingard.

Are you sure that's how an employer would view it?
I've had confidentiality clauses at work that have said differently.
Essentially I could choose to break them, and tell family about various things, but if it got out the buck would have stopped with me if discovered.

It being OK to discuss things with family and friends, and them leaking it would seem quite a big loophole. I'm not sure if Scholes is in some way employed by the club and bound by any duty of confidentiality?

Of course you may have expertise in this area.

Take my hat off to anyone finds the cure for J Lingz.

Yes, he hasn't shared anything that belongs to United.

Scholes should have retired from football altogether when he quit playing, I don't rate him as highly anymore, he has turned into quite a joke.

All of the ex players should stop commenting on things they don't really have a clue about. Just because you played football well at this club sometime in the past you are not automatically an expert coach, manager, tactician, psychologist or whatever. The media just wants you to say something because they can make headlines from it. Scholes telling the world that the dressing room atmosphere is a disaster doesn't help the club in any way.

I've noticed a trend in your posts where you are always more interested being contrary and protecting a player from criticism than engaging in any discussion relating to the topic

I'm pretty sure Lingard did mind, Scholesy!

I find it hard to criticise Lingard for this. Telling a friend/legend of the club in the probable expectation of a little common sense in terms of the use of that information isn't a crime. Luckily the guy is leaving, otherwise that would have put him in an awkward position with the fans and club.

Our players seem to hate each other which is a big problem.
Losing and being humiliated like this week in and out like this tend to exacerbates the friction between the cliques. Glad that this is finally being admitted to by a player openly. Let’s get that clear out going!

Leaks only happen when there's a lack of respect for the management/manager and lack of authority from the management itself. Its festered for too long since the Ole era where a lack of discipline was allowed to develop. Its clear as day the players don't think much of RR as a coach and they are also too big for him to handle. In essence a perfect storm for these pathetic bunch of low life's we have.

For too long we have played as a bunch of individuals on the pitch and this has been reflected in the dressing room where there's been disconnect between factions. My feeling is there are 3 groups, mainly the British lot, homegrown lot (Inc pog) and the Spanish speaking lot, while the others flutter in and out.

We also need to stop playing ridiculous wages to average and underperforming players which contributes to this malaise and disease at the club.

Scholes revealing he’s cosy with the poisonous ones, it’s not a great look.
