I absolutely love this song. 8 and a half minutes of pure genius. The song is so varied aswell. I'd say this songs sums up The Doors well. Give it a listen gimptoids.
I envy you lad.
I remember when I first discovered the Doors, it was a defining moment in my musical journey.
What else are you listening to then?
They really are brilliant. In fact in the 2 months or so I've been listening to them my opinion of Oasis has totally changed. They're no longer the god-like band I thought of them to be. In fact a lot of the stuff I have listened to after listening to The Doors is very average.
What's your favourite song/album of theirs?
Stoned Immaculated.
Love it. That lyric at the start is superb.
Other bands I meant, you missed my edit.
I almost want to say I told you so[
Favorite song too tough to answer, fav albums, debut and LA Women for me.
Well, I've been listening to some Metallica over the last few days, they are excellent from the few songs I've listened to. Bloc Party too, though I think a lot of their stuff is hit and miss. And then of course the legendary Jimi Hendrix.
I plan to give Nirvana a listen after your last post in the thread too.
What Metallica you listening too?
Go on, just say it, get it over and done with!
I think would probably edge for Morrison Hotel over The Doors. But they're all great in their own way.
I've only listened to a few of their songs, I'd like to dedicate a whole weekend of listening to them though
The songs I've listened to so far are Nothing Else Matters, One, The Unforgiven and St Anger. Really enjoyed them all, particularly Nothing Else Matters.
Nah, the fact that you got there in the end is all that counts. It's just a natural progression that all music fans go through. I mean, I was a fecker for it when I was younger, very closed off from other types of music, but the older you get the more varied your tastes become. I listen to all types of music now, dipping into most genres, I find there are gems in most forms of music if you are willing to look.
As for The Doors, it was the album that got me into them, so will always be my favorite, plus it has The End on it, so I guess that probably answers your fav track question too.
Forget that St Anger bollox, infact forget anything that came after the Black album. Master of Puppets and Justice are both great with the Black album being the most accessable of the three. New album, Death Magnetic, is a slight return to form also, some decent tracks on that, surprised the shit out of me tbh, never though I'd hear another decent Met album ever again.
It's time to get your head around Radiohead now methinks.
Start off with The Bends and see how you go![]()
You know, I have listen to OK Compuer 3 times now and each time I just can't bring myself round to like it. I just don't get what all the fuss is about!
But I'll give The Bends a go, if they really are as great as you make them out to be I won't regret it.
You know how high I rate them, they are THE most important band of our generation, there is no other band currently recording that even comes close to them. In years to come they will be remembered the same as the Beatles, Pink Floyd etc.
True pioneers.
BTW, get some Pink Floyd too.
'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'Wish You Were Here' are a good place to start.

You should check out bands like Sonic Youth, The Cure & Refused.
Jim was said to have had an incredibly high IQ, some say he was borderline genius.
Death makes angels of us all
And gives us wings
Where we had shoulders
Smooth as ravens claws
Fancy eating my shit?
I remember reading an interview with him back in the late 60's i think (Correct me if i'm wrong LK!), where when asked about the future of music he basically went on to describe techno and mixing DJ's as the future musical curve a good 20-30 years before they arrived.
