The Christmas song/carols you like, and the ones you just can't stand.

And maybe we can bolt on the topic of the Xmas No 1, i know that there is a campaign to make a charity single sung by serving soldiers claim the honour. But it will take some to prevent the winner of X-Factor from being top of the charts.

My mate can't stand Fairytale of New York but it is a popular one in these parts. Myself, i find Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody incredibly aggravating after not long at all.

As for the more traditional...

Good King Wenceslas
The Holly and the Ivy
O Holy Night
O Come All Ye Faithful

Yeah, they stand out.

I like the traditional ones. The newer ones are almost universally gash.

O Come All Ye Faithful is a particular favourite. I also like that one that goes 'Gloooooo, ooooo, ooooria, in excelsis deus' as it was the first carol I ever learned.

Of the newer ones, there's one I particularly liked after a drunken singalong with some Irish types at a hostel in Salzburg during Christmas 2007. I can't remember the words or how it goes, but it featured the line 'born on Christmas day'. I doubt that helps.

I like all Christmas songs, there's so many I can't even begin to list them all but I can say my favourite is Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens. I do like the Christmas carols too. My favourite is O Come All Ye Faithful.
