Son Heung-min | arm no longer broken | heart could be

Is there any status report on Son's reconstructive surgery following his cranial injury from last nights violent fingertipattack?

Just do what they do in rugby. If a player takes a blow to the head and needs that much recovery time take him off for 10 mins for a HIA ( head injury assessment ) Stop all the cheating.

I want to know where the Spurs medical team found that portable life support equipment. Bought Son back from the netherrealm.

McTominay should go to the UFC with the type of power he displayed yesterday.

After the disallowed goal Phelan's thinking "football, bloody hell".

Not sure why people are bringing up Bruno Fernandes here. The guy nearly missed a penalty because he had one eye and yet he wasn't taking it to the level of being unconscious on the floor needing the physio to revive him.
Because clutching at straws is fashionable.

And PL should pass a rule which will see McT play with his hands tied to stop the destructive force of his fingers.

Only clip I could find (most get pulled). But shows..

(1) the ref was in a perfect position to view the entire incident live - as opposed to Rashford incident (not referred) where he couldn't
(2) McTs fingertip catches Son roughly on Sons right cheek? He goes down holding the left side of his face.... NO-ONE deserves racist abuse but he deserves to be lambasted as the cheat he is. The Spurs players/medical team don't come out looking great either though maybe give them benefit of doubt that they took Sons reaction as true
(3) Why only show a second of the replay to the ref and in slowmo? Taking it completely out of context... doesn't show Son trying to pull McT or that McT is a natural 'get off' reaction. If that was rugby, ref would say show me more/full speed and conclude it was natural... as did every ex footballer (regardless of club allegiance) including Jenas!
(4) To come out at HT and say it wasn't his natural running action shows a complete lack of understanding of how footballers move/react and VAR (Pawson?) and ref should be suspended

What's funny is Pogba does the exact same arm motion (on Dier) as McTominay in the build up to the third goal. Only difference is Dier doesn't go down like a sack of shit. It is 100% a natural movement of the arm when someone is trying to get hold of you.

I thought he looked like he'd just remembered he'd forgot to turn the oven off or something along those lines.

The idiots sending racist abuse to Son deserve everything they get in terms of punishment. If they are Manchester United fans all they have done is change the narrative from an athlete committing an outrageous act of cheating to the same athlete being the victim of racism.

You only have to watch that Spurs documentary on Amazon Prime to see Son hates this bullshit. He's obviously encouraged by Mourinho to act like a plum. He was one of the most popular players in the Premier League before Mourinho showed up and wanted him to be a "cnut." That interview post match shows a man that is not happy playing under this fraud.

Obviously all teams have players that dive or exaggerate fouls, Bruno absolutely does it of course he does.

I've said it before though but I do think Son staying down for 5 minutes whilst the Spurs medical team were checking him for concussion or to make sure he hadn't broken his neck was a new level of embarrassment.

It was clear he was not only trying to make sure the goal was chalked off but that Mctominay got sent off.

Seeing him almost crying in his after match interview was fecking lovely, the massive cheat.

"Mason fecks it against poppadom wrists"

What I find odd is that we all know that Son threw himself to the floor and wasn’t injured. The pundits in the studio also all recognised that. Why are the referee team unable to do so?

The check should have been - does he poke him in the eye (the only thing I think with that level of contact might have justified that sort of reaction). Clearly not. A hand on the cheek does not justify that level of reaction. Goal stands and Son booked for playacting.

I thought Ole missed the chance to call them straight up cheats and instead gave Mourinho a way out by talking about feeding kids. Any other manager would have done that after what Lamela did in the home fixture and then followed by Son in this one.

Sadly the the way the game is these days it rewards such behaviour, (while going well out of its way to find reasons to disallow goals). I can’t even get mad at Son because what he did was not only comfortably within the laws of the game but actually encouraged by them. I think it’s a sorry state of affairs, feel like I’m watching the beautiful game being picked apart and ruined before my eyes.

Too much fixation on applying letter of the law. There's been several outrageous calls by VAR as a result of over analysing slow mo footage of an innocuous incident.

He did?

He said we were conned then .. actually the ref was conned.

Effectively doing the same thing as just saying "Son's a cheat" but also bringing officials into it... wonder how Sons next 50/50 decision will go now.

I think he should have stopped there when he called Son a con-man and it would have been the question posed to Mourinho instead of giving him a chance to weasel out of it and take the high road.

"Mason sends the defender for a kebab and blasts it straight past popadom wrists"

 Classic.

It needs to be a rule that a blatant dive makes it difficult to judge an offense and it can only hurt the attacker. The ref should first assess if its an exaggeration and judge it from the there.

This is exactly it. People will bang on about players who don't win trophies, but take it overly personal when a player does everything within their entitlement to get a result. Everyone has players who do it, but people turn a blind eye to their own. Look at how liverpool fans (of all!) point out even the slightest dive from other teams, when Mane & Salah could star in the beach landings of Saving Private Ryan if they did the whole thing on green screen.

As has been noted, similar happens to Dier, he doesn't react, goal stands. The 3 points can be the difference between making CL or not. It's a huge thing.

Most appropriate use of "don't hate the player, hate the game". Yes, getting a finger on the cheek isn't a big deal, but if you don't make the contact visible then nothing happens and you lose games, potentially.

This behaviour will never end. Ref bottled it. You can tell the ref bottled it because he doesnt give mctominay a second booking. If that was a foul then that type of foul is a booking. Putting your hand in someones face if non accidental is a booking. If accidental its not a foul. The ref disallows it out of sympathy.

If i am the ref there, i give the goal, wait for Son to get up before booking him for simulation and telling the players i’m adding the 5 minutes he rolled round for back on.

if refs stop pandering to this shit it will stop happening.

McTominay should have also gone down screaming for the damage that Son did to his hand. Acutally I wonder what would happen if every football incident should end up in two players screaming for 10 minutes.

Kick -off, tackle, BAM two players down clutching their ankle, VAR review, free kick

Free kick taken, tackle, BAM two players down clutching their ankle, VAR review, .... repeat for 90 minutes.

I would love to see how referees handle such a scenario. The fans will leave the sport in droves and players would all have sore throats after a game, but it will be funny as feck while its happening.

SO long as the games and the refs continue to reward play-acting, why would players stop? I hold nothing against Son for yesterday - he would have been dumb to not do it.

Agreed.

They ALL do it ...just some are better at it than others.

Agree with that CJJ. I do think Son went far beyond what most players would have done though and deserves particular scorn. The guy was on the floor for minutes and getting checked for concussion, when he’d had a finger touch his cheek.

Let's hope Korea never get into a military conflict, or he might not be a part of their defence anymore after this insidens
