Sky: Richard Arnold to become new CEO of Manchester United

At the moment, any change is a good change
I’m looking forward to this appointment.

Listened to The Athletic's United Podcast, and I'd say the journalists on there were reasonably positive about Arnold. At least saying he knows what he's good at, and what's he's not - which seems to be big Ed's biggest failing.

Also interesting to hear he's almost always up at OT, versus Ed who was apparently down in London.

Will be interesting to see what our transfer policy looks without Ed trying to prove something. Should give plenty of power to Rangnick when he's upstairs.

The football department is what needs changing/ looked at first and foremost

This haha. I keep hearing posters acting like it’s a good thing that the CEO doesn’t get involved in football. Aren’t we a football club??

As our football department is extremely underperforming. You would hope that the CEO would have a plan to change the structure or the staff. This is very worrying to hear that he plans to keep BAU.

THis would be great. Woodward was 100% a failure and anyone who defends him has no idea what leadership is. Even if Glazers have final nod, he put forward all teh managers and singings, plus contract renewals. He was also a little kid who wanted all the glory, without ever seeming to get the fact he knew absolutely nothing about football and refused to put in place a proper recruitment or football strcuture. He didnt want to let go as he wanted the glory. He equally now deserves all the cricisim for his failures. We need to start with a proper DOF, forget the consultancy rubbish and give it to Ralf at end of season. Then focus on youth and scouting.

We are a football club, everyone should work regarding that matter.
In theory yes. But under the Glazers not really. They dont care if Utd never win another trophy. WHich is why the fans need to force them to put football first and give the board a clear focus on football matters. They can still make money, but less focus on social media driven signings, more on scouting, youth and progressive football. Not hard to do if there is a desire. But without experienced football people in right positions it wont happen

I was under the impression that Ed was at all the games and the London office was only used for transfers or commercial deals largely for convenience.

I always got the impression that Ice Cube had a small soft spot for Man Utd so it could at least be handy for when the CEO fecks up. "I'm calling you Arnold cos you Beenadick!"

We've been here before. The club release press statements that sound like the things we want to hear, but nothing changes.

He's going to be the same as Woodward, except he has two chins to make up for our last CEO not having one. He only seems to give a shit about marketing and social media reach, so expect more of the same PR bullshit sprinkled with photos of big names (old ones that are past their best and don't fit our squad) shouting at a camera showing pashun for whatever traffic light management system or vagina candles they're advertising.

They actually made a big song and dance of mentioning that he's a big "data" man. Ooooh, fatty only cares about data. Look how progressive he is.
Everyone works with data nowadays. It's not the big wow factor that he thinks it is. It's like the club proudly proclaiming that they've just discovered fire. The dumb cnut.

Sorry, but until we get people in who put football before revenue streams or how many people tweet about us we're just going to keep plodding around in the shit.

Don't invite me to any parties.

How exactly do you know that ? He has done exactly what he said. Has appointed a manager who will move to consulting role for 2 years and Fletcher will take over after that.

You are just assuming something and think that will happenm

Richard Arnold didn't appoint Rangnick, unless I've gotten it wrong?

But you're right, I don't know any of that. None of us do. I'm assuming it because I really don't expect much to change compared to the last near-decade. I wish I had your optimism but I just can't.

Why would we take any club statement at face value, they say what they think fans want to hear. Why assuem he is any different to Woodward. The Glazers want the club run to make them money and dont care about trophies. Why make Ralf a consultant, make him DOF for as long as he wants as long as we see results. Fletcher with no experience can work with him. Give him final say over signings, renewals and stop the mega signings and stupid salaries. Invest the savings in youth. Not hard to implement, but again needs the Glazers to green light and Arnold to genuinely delegate and let go of control, in a manner that useless pr@ck Woodward refused to do.

Well said. The remit nowadays is to hoodwink a fanbase

Could stomach this appointment provided he keeps his nose out of football business which his Toy Story puppet mate couldn't do

A chance for this fellow to prove he's not just a polyp sprouted off of Woodward's chin.

Rangnick's proven he knows what he's talking about. And perhaps asked for a midfielder.

Woodwards first game as CEO was a win under Moyes

Woodwards last game as CEO was a win against Moyes

We have another new sponsor coming.

Glad to see our ability to make money, is not affected by bad business decisions

Well City made more revenue than us last year for the first time ever, with the caveat that they cook the books and covid hit us harder than most due to the size of the stadium, but not being competitive hurts the wallet no matter what shite they spout

Zero news of us getting a solid link with any player this window, let alone a midfielder.

Not feeling very optimistic that he isn't just Woodward's polyp at this point.

Haidara and Zakaria double swoop on deadline day completely out of the blue.

Arnold declines any interviews; club later releases a short statement saying it will operate in a more quiet fashion going forward. Pigs fly. Hell freezes over.

What's interesting is the article has what appears to be full look of Uniteds new home shirt.

One day our club will work out that Edwin VDS might be quite good at this job... one day... one day...
