Simeone "Man United are one of the best teams in the world right now."

I think so. He also said that Antonio Valencia was the best right winger in the world before the CL final in 2011.

He was up there though. Robben and Messi ahead in a 4-3-3 system, but for 4-4-2 I don't think many did beat Valencia.
Although I liked him more as a wingback/fullback.

I’d put all top 4/5/6 teams as among the best in the world to be fair. That’s how powerful English football is
Same here. I honestly believe that we aren't actually as bad as everyone says we are, it's simply that football isn't played in a vacuum and we have Chelsea Liverpool and City to compare with. In most other leagues we would be an extremely strong side if not the best team, and my belief is that we would roll out way to about 80-90 points in leagues I shall not name here. He's obviously not serious though, we are still the underdogs going into this tie, but we have some pretty potent individual power if the likes of Bruno, Ronaldo and Sancho play at their best.

I would believe this if we didn't get routinely opened up by sides like Newcastle and Burnley.

I think we've improved under Rangnick and that's been overshadowed somewhat by our new found ability to miss open goals, but I still wouldn't say we look that strong.

Our biggest problem is we just leak chances for fun the second any team can get at our defence. They don't even have to be particularly good going forwards either. As long as they can get the ball up the pitch for some small period of the game we tend to serve up the chances for them

I sometimes think Pep is the dullest man in football but his "they were the best team I've ever seen even if we did beat them 7-0" routine makes me think he's some kind of meta performer who's been doing comedy this whole time.
Needs to use his awkward, slightly rapey “more than you believe” catchphrase more. You knew Fergie wasn’t about that bullshit when he threw a “no question about that” out there.

This is also the man who once said "football is wonderful because no one is right, there is no absolute truth". Just following what he believes in

He's technically right because he said "...right now".

We're only behind City since Rangnick took over, 1 loss in 15 games.

Yep. If City and Liverpool were in other leagues then those so called other great teams would be fighting for third or fourth as well. Put Utd in Germany instead of Bayern and we are in a title race with nobody playing us down

And then reality hits and you struggle to get out of a group of Villareal, Atalanta and Young Boys Bern, a year after failing to qualify due to a loss to the 4th best team in Istanbul

But sure, you'd walk all those other leagues, 80, 90 points :wenger:

What’s CL got to do with it? We are sitting fourth in the league, Bayern would be 3rd at best in England and they wouldn’t be given the among best in world accolade neither. Not saying Utd are world beaters but the likes of Madrid aren’t pulling up trees and their rep have come from competing v Sevilla and Betis this year ffs.
meanwhile your main challengers got schooled by the second best team in Scotland, if Europe is a guide. Laugh emoji laugh emoji

edit this season Bayern have lost a whole two games less than us during a bad season. Fantastic stuff

To be fair this is non English football talking. Our pressing isn’t good enough for the premiership just yet but no other leagues even attempt to press as high (look at the pace of Villarreal and Juve last night)

OK Diego, you have successfully passed the 1st stage of the interview for the Manchester United job.

HR will be in touch with the requirements for the next round, I hope your powerpoint skills are up to date !

There is a considerable drop in quality in the European leagues in terms of depth when compared to the Prem. We'd very likely be challenging for the title in any of them if we're being honest.

We really aren’t. Atletico have been poor all season in a league that really isn’t that strong anymore. We might still lose, but we aren’t underdogs. Bookies agree.

On paper we actually are one of the best teams in the world.

We have gained the second most points in the PL since rangnick came in, only behind city. And on our day we can beat anyone. On our day!

Now we just need the performances to go with the points.

Well he can't possibly say United has been average and he wouldn't want the likes of McT anywhere near his team, can he? Imagine we ended playing well and come away with a 2-0 lead. He would look a right knob.

Simeone would love McT.

I don't think he's trolling, maybe he, as a football person, knows more about football than we do? Just a thought.

(Side note, if McT was playing for West Ham and we had Rice - this forum would be clamouring for us to sign McT. They're effectively the exact same player. Yet the majority here would love us to sign Rice. If we sign Rice, nothing will change in my opinion)

We have had a very easy run of fixtures and even then we have managed to exit from FA Cup to a lower half opposition and dropped points in several games we were expected to win.

But then we have 1 loss v the top that aren’t Coty and Liverpool so it’s not as if we are can crushing. If anything it’s the lesser sides we consistently struggle against

No easy games in the PL and you can only win whats infront of you. While i do agree we shouldn’t of dropped the points we have, we’re still a capable squad and on paper are elite. On paper doesn’t mean it’s how we perform by all means. There’s no chance Simone would look at this team and write us off, he will know we can play and are a threat, he will be taking us serious.

Not with Olé who was seeing his team lose to Young Boys and Istanbul.

Classic Misdirection. Your willie is bigger, you have nothing to worry about. Don't fall for it boys.

Same say something else bro. Even our players would know this is a troll and this will actually motivate them to play better.

Hard luck Chucho.

Yep. The top teams in the world likely looks something like:
Elite tier (CL favourites/final expectation):
  • City, Bayern, Liverpool
2nd tier (CL dark horses/semi final expectation):
  • Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, Ajax
3rd tier (CL knockout level teams/quarter final expectation):
  • Atletico, United, Inter
4th tier (lower tier CL knockout teams/Europa League favourites):
  • Spurs, Arsenal, Dortmund, Juventus, Barcelona, Sevilla, Milan, Napoli, Villareal, Leipzig, Porto
Spurs and Arsenal with Conte and Arsenal's level this season mostly have probably been in that 3rd tier (and we've been the same with Ralf). Only reason I put us in 3rd and them 4th is because we were also a good team last year and had just a bad half season.

How you all doing with that team from Salzburg .
yeah this will probably age terribly.

Ok, this is now just taking the piss. McTominay one of the best midfielders in the world? He can't even get into the Scotland midfield.
IF you listen to the whole interview and know a bit of Spanish, he says these on a normal tone. The quotes make this look so much more dramatic because United fans would react to every god damn thing these days and generate clicks.
The whole interview is absolutely fine, especially if you hear it in Spanish.

How is Juventus winning their group stages in the CL with 15 points last season and again 15 points this season in 4th tier, and United losing to Istanbul and Young Boys in the third?

RR should respond with "Atletico are one of the best teams in la liga right now"
