Rank the trophies in order of importance/greatness

Champions League
PL
Europa League
FA Cup
League Cup
GM Vauxhall Conference League
Golden Glove
That one where we beat Liverpool in the final amd LVG claimed it counted as a real win.

The World Club Cup, Super Cup, Shield etc. I'm not sure I count at all as I genuinely couldn't tell you who won amy of them on any year apart from when it was United

Champions League
Premier League
FA Cup
Europa League
League Cup
Etc.

I put the FA cup over the Europa league because at our best being in that tournament is a failure. It’s either a league position failure or a champions league group stage failure. We would rather never play in it again and consistently qualify for and leave a mark in the champions league.

I agree with this but winning the CL without winning the PL too is not the same feat.

Always annoyed me when an English team finished 5th and fluked the CL then had the gaul to call themselves eUrOpEaN cHaMpIoNs.

Domestic league first, best in England
Champions League second, best in Europe

You need both though.

It depends on the team though too, Man United historically have underachieved in the Champions League you could say, relative to how big the club was. To only win 3 Champions Leagues, which is half of Liverpool’s total. Meanwhile Liverpool having 7 CLs instead of 6 wouldn’t mean that much legacy wise, but having 20 leagues and a second PL would mean more to them. So I’d be more than happy if United nicked a CL without being the best team in England, it would make up for the many, many years where we were a top team and didn’t win it.

Premier League has to be top, it's a clear indication of your standing across a 38 game campaign, and WAS our bread and butter. You need luck to win cup competitions.

For me,

Prem
Champions League
FA Cup
Europa League
League Cup
Other continental trophies.
This.

Tier 1: UCL and EPL (in this order)
Tier 5: Europa League and FA Cup (in this order)
Tier 20: Conference League and League Cup
Tier 100: Club World Cup

  1. World cup - top overall without a doubt, the ultimate dream
  2. Champions League - undoubtedly top for clubs which pretty much every player would agree with
  3. European Cup/Copa America/AFCON - for individual players
  4. Domestic League
  5. FA Cup
  6. Europa League
  7. Club world cup
  8. European Super Cup
  9. Conference League
  10. League Cup
  11. Community Shield
Not counting youth trophies, this is probably accurate for the vast majority of players & fans.

CL - most prestigious and the most difficult to win
PL - marathon needing a lot of determination
EL - qualifies you for the CL next year
Wenger cup (top 4 finish) - qualifies you for the CL next season
FA cup - qualifies you for EL next year
ECL - qualifies you for EL next year
League cup - qualifies you for ECL next year
CWC - doesn't do anything except fill your pockets a bit
Super cup - same as above but on a continental level
Community shield - same as above but on a domestic level

So to rank clubs,
Madrid/Dortmund > Man City > Atalanta > Liverpool (Wenger cup + league cup) > Arsenal (Wenger cup + community shield) >Villa (just Wenger cup) > Man Utd (qualified for EL + FA cup) > Spurs (qualified for EL) > Chelsea > Newcastle

Winning a higher ranked trophy in the above will always be preferred to winning multiple lower ranked trophies. For eg, champions league will always be preferred to league + fa cup double.

In terms of glory

1. CL
2. PL
3. FA Cup
4. Europa
5. League Cup
6. Conference

I put FA and League above european trophies because they are still things you can gloat over your rivals as it is direct competition with your rivals.

In terms of what should be prioritized

1. PL
2. CL

Doing well over a league campaign is a more evidence based measure of how sustainable your product is on the pitch. CL fluke runs have already been done.

Europa>FA cup in isolation. It's a European trophy and the teams are better and the rewards and prestige is higher.

FA cup feels better now because we haven't won it in so long and we're close to overtaking arsenal for most all time.

The other trophies are obvious.

I think some context comes into the picture for the trophies. In general, from a priority, I would say

PL
CL
Europa
FA
Club WC
EFL

But if we are winning a cup after years then that particular cup may feel more significant.

I think most people have the ranking pretty spot on, so not going to dive into that.

My only question would be, will peoples sentiments change regarding the club world cup when the format changes this season?

I can see it taking a while to get off the ground as usual, but I'll at least be slightly more interested to see how it goes than the old format.

Europa League vs FA cup is equal for me, what tips them is the difficulty of the opponents you beat.

Beating Liverpool AND City is what you’d have to do to get far in champions league, where the likes of Sevilla and Atalanta in Europa League is a tier below. Totally depends on who you meet.

For me, its dead and the new concept is another money grabbing scheme from FIFA. Not interested in it at all.

Yeah, I'd expect it to be as well, but as I said I'd have more interest watching it than I did previously given there are more teams capable of beating each other.

If teams take it seriously, which I doubt they will, then it has the potential to at least rise to the same importance as the league Cup and conference league, whereas currently I'd have it on par with the charity shield.

I've never cared one iota about the club world cup, and never will. It's as pointless as the community shield and should be scrapped, along with the league cup

Overall:
Major:
1.World cup (undisputed no1)

2. CL
3. Domestic league
4. Continental cup (Euro, Copa America etc...)
Middle:
5.Europa league
6. Olympic gold medal
7.World cup for clubs
8.Domestic cup
Minor:
9.Conference league
10.League cup
11.Euro super cup
12.Domestic super cup

I'm not sure about that undisputed no1. Maybe for a player, but as a fan I'd much rather see United win the league (or the CL) than my country win the World Cup.

To me it's pointless. The football clubs in Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America don't have the resources to compete with the European clubs. You will see lots of meaningless games. It will be essentially Club Europe Cup. If I'm not wrong we already have the Champion League?

It ultimately depends on circumstances and the wider context of the match.

I'd ask though that does it really matter? Saturday was magical. I'd say that none of the 25000 plus reds in the ground were thinking "you know what, this is ok but the Premier League and Champions League are better." A trophy is a trophy and as a one off moment of pure celebration, it was up there with winning the Champions League in 2008. In the wider scheme of things, it probably wasn't "up there" but you watch football to experience moments like Saturday.

Matchgoing Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle fans would have all loved to have been in our position at the weekend. The later 3 would have all happily finished in our league position if it meant winning the cup.

Wow, really? Nothing beats World cup for me. Nothing beats that feeling when your team is playing on world cup.
Our defeats against France in final and Argentina in semis are worst football moments ever for me. I still have emotional scars about that:D

Goes without saying! I'd rather see United win the Club World Cup than Norway winning the WC

I love the World Cup and all the excitement around it, but I like it as a tournament. The passion for wanting to win doesn’t come close to when United play.

Premier League
Champions League
FA Cup = Europa League
League Cup
Club World Cup

First thoughts were that EL/FA Cup would be the only tricky one. Europa League is more important, FA Cup is greater in terms of emotion for me. So they're about the same.

After instinctively thinking PL would be first I then realised that winning the CL is probably both more important in terms of club stature and that I felt even better when winning it. Decided to ignore that and stick with the PL anyway. I still want to put the league first for some reason.

Tier 1:
Champions League and Premier League - would probably have the champions league marginally ahead but both are the big prizes at the end of the season.

Tier 2:
FA Cup and Europa League - both are major trophies and great prizes, if not the no. 1 picks for the biggest teams.

Tier 3:
League Cup, Conference League and Club World Cup - League cup and Conference league are the poorer brothers of the FA cup and Europa league. Both probably count as major trophies though aren’t massive and don’t necessarily feel like it. The club World Cup sneaks into Tier 3 as winning it does allow yourselves to be called World Champions and you get the cool silver badge on the shirts. However, with the expansion of the tournament, I’m not entirely sure as to whether it will maintain its status.

Tier 4:
Charity Shield and UEFA super cup - Charity Shield is merely the curtain raiser for domestic competition and the super cup is that to the European competition. Both obviously nice to win but not a big deal either way. Glorified friendly isn’t too far from the truth. Might have super cup just a little ahead but still not a major trophy.

1. Champions League - most prestigious club competition in the world of football
2. Premier League - most prestigious domestic league in the world of football
3. F.A. Cup - oldest football competition in the world
4. Europa League - literally a second-rate competition, its only value is that winning it is a direct avenue into the CL
5. League Cup - hard to understand why England even needs this since it already has the F.A. Cup
6. Community Shield - not sure if this even counts as a competitive match? I do like that the proceeds go to good causes, so it gets my respect for that
7. Club World Cup - no need for this, and I don't even think that the European clubs take it seriously. I sure don't.

Don't think anyone is majorly disputing CL/PL are the very top tier. Personally, CL will always be more special. I think that's because, whilst it has the cup competition lottery, it's still contested between the very best teams and to come out on top of that is incredible.

I'd say EL comes next. It's really a mini CL these days, it's quite hard to win it and follows a similar tournament format with usually some very strong teams so I'd say it's next.

FA Cup the most incredible domestic cup in world football so definitely next.

World Club Cup should be important but reality is Europe win it almost every time so it's inconsequential. Still a world title though.

I think the League Cup should be discontinued, it serves little purpose.

Very good

The Premier League and Champions League are the ones that matter at the highest level. The rest are either add-ons that can enhance an already successful season (when you've won the league or big ears) or sweeteners to help forget a failed campaign (where we're at post-SAF). The trip to Wembley is always special and a trophy is better than ending the season empty-handed, but this doesn't change the big picture.
