Rank the trophies in order of importance/greatness

I'd have the old uefa cup over the fa cup but I'd have the current EL behind the fa cup

The expansion of the cl has killed the smaller European trophies imo, the EL now is generally considered little more than a scheduling nuisance by the big teams at least until the semis come around - which is increasingly contested by failed CL clubs too

Cup Winners Cup was a great competition that was also killed by the CL expansion

I'm happy when my club wins any of those. I do think the League cup became a little bit more important around the era of Jose's Chelsea team though. It barely registered for Sir Alex before then and suddenly we won three in five years or whatever it was. Pep and Klopp continued this.

Tier 1:League/Champions League
Tier 2: FA cup/Europa League
Tier 3: League cup
Tier 4: The rest

It all gets a bit crazy over the next 2 years as from 2025 the Club World Cup will adopt the current Champions League format of 8 groups of 4 teams but from 2024 the Champions League will change to a single league phase (after preliminaries and qualifiers) of 36 teams......don't ask!

The "new" Club World Cup will only be held every 4 years.

And FIFA have confirmed (basically U-turned) on the old Club World Cup tournament by initially confirming it would revert back to it's previous "Intercontinental Cup" name and be held annually (except for the year of the "new" Club World Cup Tournament) between the European and South American Champion League winners to NOW going to an annual tournament for all 6 winners of each respective continental champions league winners with the European winners getting a direct bye into the final.

So we'll basically still have the Club World Cup (albeit called the Intercontinental Cup) every year with a "super" addition of the Club World Cup every 4 years.

That is actually quite similar to 1999/2000 when United won the Intercontinental Cup but then got gubbed in the inaugural 2000 Club World Cup. Real Madrid competed in the 2000 Club World Cup also and then went on to win the 2000 Intercontinental Cup.

Rankings of tournaments thus:

4 points if you win Champions League or the 4 year edition of Club World Cup.
3.5 points for winning the EPL.
3 points for winning the Europa League.
2.5 points for winning the FA Cup and League Cup.
2 points for winning the Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup and Europa Conference League.
1 point for winning the Charity Shield.

League Cup is just silly. I don't know why you need a second domestic cup trophy. And the finals in the middle of the season?

Just pointless.

The very first reply nailed it for me. So yeah, this.

Premier League
Champions League
FA Cup
Europa League
League Cup
Club World Cup

A full season league campaign is always the ultimate test of a team’s greatness for me.

(1) Whatever Ten Hag wins working under the harshest conditions known to man. If he wins only the community shield next season, then that'll be the biggest trophy won next season.

Then:

- Premier League (A trophy won coming out on top after 38 games in a season will always be higher for me than any cup competition)

- Champions League

- FA Cup

- Europa League (Only good for getting CL the following season if you are fecking up in the league)

- League cup (Least important. Big teams should play mostly youth in this tournament)

Rest are glorified friendlies.

It's tricky because the Champions League is obviously the most prestigious, but a side winning the CL in a year they don't win their domestic League always feels tarnished. How can you be the best team in Europe if you're not the best team in your own country.

On that basis, I'll vote:

Premier League
Champions League
-
FA Cup
-
World Club Cup
-
Europa League
League Cup

CL - Three titles is just not enough for the club this big
PL - For obvious reasons

EL - A European trophy is always a big thing. We should give our best to win it next season
FA Cup

Everything else

There’s absolutely nothing like winning the CL and both our 99 and 08 victories will be remembered long after any of our PL wins.

What we win
What non English non rival clubs win
What non rival English clubs win
What rival clubs win

Champions League. Holy grail of football trophies.
PL. Champion of the hardest league (top to bottom) on the planet to win.
FA Cup.
Europa League.
Conference League.
League Cup.
Club World Cup.

I would have said the opposite, the Europa League has gone up a gear since there was Champions League qualification with it and there have been some great matches in it in the latter stages in recent seasons, whereas in the years of the old Uefa Cup, the FA Cup was as big as winning the league for a lot of people. The FA Cup has diminished somewhat from its peak, but still far better than the League Cup.

It really depends on who’s winning the trophies. City “won” all 3 major trophies last season but it’s deemed essentially irrelevant because of financial doping, cheating and 115 charges.

1. CL/Club World Cup.
2. Premier League.
3. Europa League/FA Cup
4. League Cup
5. Conference League
6. Super Cup.
7. Charity Shield.

CWC is number 1 because you already have to win the CL to be in it and you get to call yourself the best club in the world. Still pissed off we werent allowed wear the badge in the league in 2009 onwards.

Surprising people putting Europa league ahead of the FA cup. It's a B competition. You likely aren't going to play a single big team in it, they're all in the Champions league. We beat St Etienne, FC Rostov, Anderlecht, Celta Vigo and Ajax to win it. None of those compare to beating City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or even Spurs (apart from Ajax) to win an FA cup. The Europa league is for smaller clubs to have something to aim for and celebrate winning in Europe. If a team like United win it it just highlights that they're not where they need to be, nothing to really celebrate imo

The CL is the ultimate test. The one all the elite clubs we want to compare ourselves with want. So incredibly difficult to win that even FC115 with Guardiola and all their wealth has only won it once and the likes of Arsenal never have.

2.PL

3. World Club Cup (Old Intercontinental)
4. FA Cup,
5. European Super Cup, Europa League
6. Conference League

Rest are meaningless for me

Champions League
Premier League
Europa League
FA Cup
League Cup
World Club Cup
Super Cup
Charity Shield

The Fa Cup as great a competition as it is, can't be above a European tournament. And that's before you even mention that winning one qualifies you for the Champions League and the other qualifies you for the Europa League.

That is completely contextual and to do with the draw, you can win the FA Cup without playing anyone good either. City won the 2019 FA Cup beating Rotherham, Burnley, Newport, Swansea, Brighton and Watford. Atalanta won the Europa League beating Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool, Marseille and Leverkusen.

Also United's run last year in the Europa League if they'd beaten Sevilla would have been Barcelona, Betis, Sevilla, Juventus, Roma. United got a historically weak draw when they won it, it's not a typical run to the trophy.

The only correct answer:

Major trophies:

1. Champions League
2. Premier League
3. FA Cup
4. Europa League
5. World Club Championship
6. League Cup
7. Conference League

Non major trophies:

8. European Super Cup
9. Community Shield

At the same time, in FA cup you mostly get to play clubs a tier or two below. Some very good teams in this year's EL later stages. It's only really in England that domestic cups are valued that much but even that has been in decline.

Different type of greatness and importance to them IMO. I dream more about United winning the CL again and further building our European legacy, than I do about us winning another PL title after more than a decade...but A, that doesn't necessarily mean we're once again the best, or at least a top 3 side in Europe again (the pre-season favorite usually doesn't win the CL), and B, I feel like the Premier League is our bread and butter and should always be the main objective for Manchester United.

It also depends on how long it's been since we've won one of them. Had we won a CL in these last 11 years by some sort of miracle run at some point, most people would want a PL title over another CL. I think Liverpool wanted nothing more than the PL title after the 30 year drought, whereas City had been dreaming about that first CL win for 15 years before they got there, and by the time they did, they obviously valued it way above their PL titles. I think that would've been the case even if they weren't dominating the PL for 5 years by that time. Same goes for Madrid and their 12 year CL drought before La Decima.

This FA Cup trophy that we won at the weekend for me is easily the biggest and most important trophy we've won since 2013, mostly because of the circumstances...but I'm not sure I'd rank the FA Cup over the Europa League for example, even though I was nowhere near as joyful when we won that in 2017. For me, it depends on how easy your run is to the final and the final itself as well.

I've also learned to appreciate the trophies more in these last 11 years  Winning the PL felt like a habitual thing back in the day, but now it would bring my unbelievable happiness.

The 2024-2025 Europa League is now also something that I really want United to win.

Did you feel the 2017 Europa League was more glorious than any of our FA cup wins? Not at all for me. The main feeling was that it got us into the CL, the actual cup always felt second rate. 2024 FA Cup we beat Liverpool, City…genuinely top teams.

More glorious is subjective, but I felt it was more important achievement than 2016. Not least because it was the only competition the club had never won. And it got us a CL spot.

Now I'm not saying there's much between them and I was delighted when we won both. But for me a Euopean Cup is bigger than a domestic one.

Tier 1 -
1A: Champions League
1B: Premier League

Tier 2 -
2A: Europa League
2B: FA Cup

Tier 3 -
3A: Club World Cup
3B: Conference League
3C: League Cup

Europa League is better than the FA cup because it ensures CL qualification and funds for a club and it's a big continental competition. Similarly, Conference League is better than Carabao Cup because it ensures Europa League qualification.

In countries like Spain and Germany, I'd rate the CL as a whole tier above the domestic leagues because of how easy it is for the likes of Real/Bayern/Barca to win their domestic leagues. The fans of these clubs are much much happier when they win the CL.

I think until recently i'd have had the EL below the FA cup - but the teams in it these days are really tough to beat and require a hairy schedule to get to the final. I'd go:

CL
Prem
EL
FA Cup
League Cup
then whatever

that night we won the CL in 2008 was probably the most memorable footballing moment for me.I remember waking up thinking I'd dreamt it

I agree that the Premier League is the most accurate assessment of a club’s strength, but there’s no glory like the Champions League.

Then FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup, everything else.

I agree with this but winning the CL without winning the PL too is not the same feat.

Always annoyed me when an English team finished 5th and fluked the CL then had the gaul to call themselves eUrOpEaN cHaMpIoNs.

Domestic league first, best in England
Champions League second, best in Europe

You need both though.

Tier 1: PL and CL
Tier 2: EL
Tier 3: FA
Tier 4: Everything else.

This.

CL has more lustre than the Prem but honestly, how do you beat Manchester City these days? Over the course of 38 games it is exceptionally difficult to have the same consistency against a club with so much strength in depth, quality, and experience. Then you have Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, etc. It's a tough, tough league to win.

That being said, those CL wins always stick in the memory. There is no bigger game than a CL final in club football.

A discussion that hasn't been had for quite some time has pretty much reared its head once more since our FA Cup win, and, in particular, due to City's players absolute indifference to it as losers.

Then, there's sentiment like this:

I'm not going to quote the author as @ spam isn't the intent of highlighting the post.

Given how utterly dire the season has been, winning this trophy has offered some real welcome relief, and has also led to an outpouring of emotion you wouldn't have gotten for an FA Cup win when we were eyeing up PL's and CL's every season.

Anyway, put these trophies in order of significance and importance to you and for the club:

Champions League
Premier League
Europa League
FA Cup
League Cup
World Club Cup

Premier League
Champions League
Europa
FA Cup/ League Cup
CWC

The Club World Cup is a glorified Community Shield. Why is it even listed by some of you? It's a procession to crowning the European team every year.

Champions League
Premier League
FA Cup
Europa
League Cup
Anything else

People putting the club world cup ahead of the fa cup and even the europa league   unbelievable stuff

Top 2 are obvious

but FA cup and Europa can change depending on circumstances

beating Liverpool and city in the final means more to me that our Europa win vs Ajax. It probably wouldn’t be above the Europa had we not won it the way we did

Pretty much. Maybe Europa / FA Cup equal, maybe not.

Unless the Premier League is won on the final day, the Champions League will always be No.1 as far as I'm concerned. Sport for me is about the moments, and nothing feels better, and is as unforgettable as victory in a Champions League Final.

Europa League, Conference League, Fa Cup and EFL cup are all on the same level. Feels good to win them but not quite the same feeling as winning the Champions League.

The Club World Cup, Super Cup and Community Shield are on the same level, and I see them as just trophies to pad the trophy cabinet. I feel good when we win them too, but not too bad when we lose them.

UCL
EPL
UEL
UECL
Fa Cup
EFL Cup
CWC
Super Cup
Community Shield

1. UEFA Champions League
2. Premier League
3. UEFA Europa League
4. FA Cup
5. FIFA Club World Cup
6. EFL Cup
7. UEFA Super Cup
8. UEFA Conference League
9. FA Community Shield

Hell yeah I’d take both
