My picks would start with...

Salman Rushdie - Engaging style of writing, but his stories aren't great tales. I haven't read Satanic Verses though.

Martin Scorsese - Might be technically a excellent director, but I have never been crazy about any of his movies.
 
The 'fuss' about Salman Rushdie is about a bit more than his writing stlye.
 
Good call on Scorcese. I haven't seen Raging Bull since I was about 4 so can't remember it. But it must be fecking good because all the shit films he's done haven't cancelled out his surprisingly good reputation.
 
Quentin Tarantino - He's not all that, although he himself actually thinks he is all that.
 
Tarantino films are all pretty much shit.

O and Salvation, do you mind me asking; are you dyslexic?
 
Tarantino has created some fantastic cinematic moments and a couple of brilliant films. The problem is there's no middle ground, when he hits the mark it's brilliant, when he misses it's fecking painful.
 
I would say the majority of his films are poor. Even the one's with "fantastic cinematic" moments are somewhat lacking in areas.

I agree with Taxi Driver, good movie - but lacks re-watchability.

Admittedly I haven't seen his classics such as Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

But the likes of Last Temptation, Casino, Gangs of New York, Departed, Aviator, Color of Money haven't been deserving of his hype.

Probably just not watching his best works?

Don't mind at all. I do get bouts of dyslexia while reading. It might reflect in my framing of sentences. So, in short, somewhat dyslexic, yes.

Bollocks to you. 2 of my all time favourite movies. I have never heard anybody describe either movie as overrated.

I am a big fan of nearly all his movies.

You must watch Goodfellas and Raging Bull. I believe you will change your mind

Casino - average. Gangs Of New York - fecking terrible. Departed - pretty poor. Haven't seen the rest.

I would say his movies have most certainly stood the test of time. I could watch The Lady Vanishes over and over again.
 
But to answer the thread, any persons known to me that arent technically brilliant in some way. And i mean brilliant. Everything else is just a fuel for the machine

Bullshit, Goodfellas is a fecking classic, The Departed was very good as well
 
GoodFellas was a classic, wasn't overly fussed about Casino and thought The Departed was just a fantastic movie.
