I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
Apparently its got groovy new features that include moveable themes.

Also Weaste, I'm paranoid about my ps3. It's hard to describe, but its as if games are stuttering. But its all games with fast moving images like GT5:p And GTA 4.
Could it possibly be a tv issues, or is my ps3 dying. Still under warranty, but annoying.

I've not been on my PS3 in a while! I'll download it now.

What's your first impressions?

I suppose that it's easier to use for a lot of people, but I think that the old XMB was more organised and classy. It's got a more mainstream game machine look I think rather than an interface to a bit of electronics. The animated themes for example, no good to me, never used themes in the first place. Though I suppose a load of Zebras or whatever running around behind your XMB would appeal to many people.

Not had time to try the features out really.

Anybody know where to get the Dynamic themes from?

Wasn't BBC iplayer meant to be included in the update?

From what I've read briefly this morning, it doesn't update straight away, only for those that had the TV menu in the first place because of installing PlayTV. We'll find out soon I suppose, maybe it doesn't automatically give that and you have to download something from the store - but that will not be updated until Thursday. It's not appeared under my PlayTV because I'm not in the UK.

I have the BBCiPlayer on mine, but like Weaste said its because I have PlayTV I guess, I heard if you start a game and then exit it will appear, but its definatly on there because I tried it earlier.

The BBC iPlayer is on mine and I don't have PlayTV...

But it kinda sucks that it just opens the browser with the URL to iPlayer, I though it would be an actual application :(

meh its okay really, lots of sparkles and shit the afrika theme looks okay but im not setting up a jap account for it

I could do without the sparkles and glitter in the background.

iPlayer is on my menu and I don't have PlayTV. The first series of the Office is on there now too!

you can turn the sparkles off in themes, i did it on mine they were annoying me funny how they bring in dynamic themes and stuff and we all just go and change it back:lol: i like the old XMB never bothered with themes and never will

Did it do it before?

Did it do it before?

It's been doing it for a while on gta 4.

For my GT5 issue, its actually been solved. Apparently with the release of spec 3, there was a bug that made the scenery really jumpy on some tracks. For me its on all tracks with all cars when doing time trials. When I race with other cars on track, the problem goes away. Really rather weird.

GTA4 isn't exactly the pinnacle of gaming engine brilliance in terms of running smoothly. That game was always about content.

Lots of people moaning that FW3.0 has broke their ncharted, crashes all over the show apparently.

my games dont load automatically know, i have to go and select the disk in the games section on the menu, wtf?

Dunno about the updated FW but I know you always had the option regards to that Sparks, check your preferences.

Settings > System settings > Disc Auto-Start.

I have mine off anyway because I use an external HDD to play films through the PS3 sometimes so don't want to have to exit whatever game is in.

i never knew that, it just automatically worked for me

just checked this and its selected to on just not working

Have you tried it with a video disc? Mine is set to on, as it's easier for the missus to play DVDs and BDs without messing with the XMB, and it still works for me. Not tried it with a game disc yet though.

just tried it with a video disk and its working, so its just the games that are not working for me

my discs load automatically when putting them in if the PS3 is already on, but not if i have a disc in the tray and i turn the ps3 on, im sure it used to automatically load whatever disc is in when the ps3 is turned on

They do. If you have one hanging out of the disc slot when you turn it on, it sucks it in also. If you have a disc in it and it's off, pressing eject not only spits the disc out, it turns the console on.

well this is odd, any ideas what might be wrong weaste?

You are not moving the controller about while it's searching for the disc are you? Maybe your controller is sending signals out even when static? I say this because if I turn the machine on with the PS button when a disc is in, the way to stop it automatically playing the disc is to move the controller about. I think that if there is controller input of any kind, then it will not do autoplay. God knows!

ah i was not aware of this! will try it again later and see if it works then
