[prototype]

Please can you make a more elaborate criticism of it cause I have ordered it in a shop but haven't paid yet.I don't wanna be ripped off

I knew the graphics wouldn't be amazing, but I wanted to get it for the ridiculous fun you could have, so far it hasn't done anything amazing but I can imagine it getting a lot more fun.

inFamous seems a lot more refined.

Like Xander I don't care about the gfx because I play on a very small and shitty TV, the gameplay is the most important thing for me and please Spammy when you've played more can you make a sort of quick review of it ?

Ok so, I've got a bit further into the story now.

There are major faults and major pluses. It just depends what you want from a game. Firstly, the graphics are turd, the cutscenes are like early PS2 standard and there are underlying issues with the game engine. It's the sort of game that I know in time will frustrate the hell out of me because there can be so much going on at once and it can turn into a bit of a frantic mess. The missions are a bit sloppy, which when you consider the effort they've gone to for the nice little touches in the game it just makes you wonder why some of the tasks are repetitive and unpolished.

Now the good points. Some of the aforementioned neat touches are things like...consuming people and learning their memories, by doing this you can piece together the story in little bits and it works really well. Upgrading your skills means that you don't have a ton of weapons at the start while you're still trying to learn the frantic controls and when you do finally become more deadly, it is amazing. This game isn't as refined as inFamous, however, when it comes to moving around the city, this game gets major brownie points for being able to glide, run up buildings and jump really fecking far. It's fecking fun, really fecking fun. Then, we move onto running along, grabbing hold of a random innocent person and literally throwing them at 50 miles an hour into a bus stop/car/tree/another person or off the top of a building and watching their body break in half and all blood and guts spray everywhere. Not exactly the most important part of the game but it's just good to do. You can also throw pretty much anything into pretty much anything and cause it to explode. It's basically like an old GTA game with superpowers. fecking fun.

I agree as I got the game this morning and it's very fun.Graphics sucks specially when you carry an object (cars for instance). It's really fun to be destroying everything though, I'm enjoying this

remind me not to ask you to babysit

Graphics are nothing special but its hard to make them impressive when you've got a million different things blowing up all over the place.

Worth a rental at best though.

Apparently, it's running the same resolution as Halo 3, 640p, at least on the 360, PS3 is probably the same. This generation is really interesting in regards to how much performance different developers seem to be able to get out of the two machines. I'm not talking machine vs machine here, but games on one machine vs games on the same machine. The move to multiple core processors seems to have some totally stumped even though the GPUs are standard PC derivative affairs.

I got this for the PC a couple days back, and I'm loving it - it's got all the ingredients I would have used if I was going to make the ultimate game.
It's the only game besides football games which I've actually been able to play for more than 5 minutes.
A bit repetitive, but then again, i spend 5 hours just cruising through the city smashing every single infected zombie on my way, so it's bound to get a bit repetitive.
Some of the unlockable powers are kick-ass as well; surfing on a bloody body before finally kicking it 50 feet at another zombie... How is that not cool?

Looking forward to Zero Pronctuation's review of it, though he might slate it, having just played InFamous. Then again, it's very Spiderman'esque; a game which he loved.

Some people prefer InFamous, other love Prototype for it's gameplay.

 This has also become my source for game reviews, funny how he ripped Halo 3 and MGS4 to shreds.

Was the 'Er' a deliberating, pontificating 'er' signifying it was a tough choice? or a sarcastic slap down 'er' to illustrate that it was an obvious conclusion and that it is, in fact, far superior?

Please respond through the correct channels, I can reached by any number of modern communication techniques

Had this game for a couple of days but finally got to play it for a couple opf hours last night.

I tend to agree with the general consensus here, the graphics really are utterly shit but don't let that take away from the general play, its really fun to play and when you get to buy some really good special powers and moves you start to get pretty unstoppable.

The game is very flawed, but a lot of that can be overlooked when all you've got is this stupid grin on your face when you get to unleash your fury.Throwing soldiers at their own helicopters is a laugh

It is great fun when you ignore the graphics, but considering my PC is 3 years old now and can run it on highest with no problems at all, and it still looks rubbish, it's just a tad disappointing.

The 'Er' was indicative of the difficulty I encountered when choosing which game to recommend.

Depends on how you play it.
There are a lot of small'ish missions, where you get either bronze, silver or gold - so you can try and get gold in all of them.
If you only care about the main missions, then you'll get through it within a day.

After you finish it, "Hard difficulty" gets unlocked.

@Xander: What Top said basically.I've never been a bonus guy and for me the main storyline mattered the most and I must say that I liked it

Well I've completed the story now, but I want to get all the collectables and complete all the challenges (I must emphasise, this is the sort of thing I never ever do in games!).

Brilliantly enjoyable game.

Got it yesterday.

Played it for 2 hours this morning. fecking brilliantly fun and enjoyable game.

Played it for a bit today after picking it up this morning, it's a fun little game to be honest.

It's basically the spiderman movie games, I loved them so this is good for me

I spent nearly half hour last night picking up people and throwing them against a wall.

Computer games are fun, too

The ability to throw soldiers at their own troops, helicopters and blown them up is quite satisfying.

Mind you i keep deviating away from the storyline missions and just randomly killing people, blowing up cars for the fun of it.

I've hardly had the chance to play it. Only got as far as the mission where you meet the psycho girl in the Gentec building, and all those hunter things start chasing you.

Which to be fair, despite the crap visuals, has to be one of the coolest sequences in any computer game, ever.

Just got this yesterday....If the graphics were better it would be the best game ever ever ever times infinity turn around touch the ground baggsy not it!!...You can do fecking anything in this game...It's not quite. As Top said tho, it has the potential to be...But even if it doesn't live up to it its stilll feckin fun

I personally don't care about the graphics, I'm having so much fun flying around, turning into little women then destroying a helicopter with a car!

Get in!...can't even be arsed to get INfamous now...it's can't beat this from the demo I've played

I can never find time to play it, and when I do I get distracted by the irresistable urge to go around murdering up everyone and throwing cars around.

I thought i'd love this, but, despite all my expectations i really preferred infamous. I just couldn't get into it and didn't really rate the character progression.
