Manchester United 0:5 Liverpool

Post-match discussion

Sun, 24 October 2021

Ole’s post match interview was the best anyone could do after the pain if that smashing.

He’s not the right man for the job from here on. It will break him to give up but it won’t be long now.

It's hard to stomach the obsolete delusional comments G Neville makes about Ole being here till the end of season. It's like these former players have blinkers on and just spew out the same old nonsense.

I'm not even angry, just totally numb with shock - worst defeat against Liverpool in 50 years as a United fan.......gutless!
I have gone from numb to anger at the gutless garbage being spouted by Ole and Maguire. Carragher talking more sense than Neville about United.

Jamie Carragher is getting fecking annoyed at Gary talking now, after Gary tried the “well Jose and LVG tried the job so why bother” argument

Liverpool had mercy for us at the end. It was sickening to see. They were just saying ok we won’t score any more.

Consistant individual errors... It's Shaw, he is a fecking liability in this team... Don't believe me, watch our games this season and this one was the cherry on top... always cannot put a block in and out of position in every defensive phase. We always concede from that left back position. Hell against Everton he was found at right back for the Townsend goal. People were arguing with me when I said it before... that he was player of the season... bullshit. Being English does not make you automatically a great player....Jose was right... SHAW IS SHITE!

I feel we could have outplayed them but we were playing like scared girls in the first half...too defensive and didn't want to play with the ball, that was the game plan because it worked before but not the right move. .

Bruno and everyone skying shots because they can't think clearly as we were too nervous. First 5 minutes in and we could have been on top. Bruno could have passed to Rashford for a tap in even.

And let's not start with Rashy, because he was busy studying for his fecking MBE... the useless c*nt. Could've went for his surgery instead of waiting till after Euros and needed to recover in our new season... Stealing a living. Should concentrate more on his football because we pay his fecking salary.

He didn't study for his MBE. It's not that kind of MBE.
He's not stealing a living at all. He's been out and is getting back into it.
He also played through pain for big parts of last season to help out United.
He had to take a break at some point, had to have the surgery at some point too. It wouldn't have disappeared on its own, especially without breaks.
Can't really blame him for wanting to take part in the Euros, it was looking like England had a chance at winning the whole thing before the tournament started.

So yeah, let's not start with Rashy. We didn't play well tonight, but the bolded part is just over the top.

True. But he’s not the root of the problem and he is a good lad. Brilliant player when fit as well.

He is not a brilliant player. He is slow , clumsy and believes in himself so much that he actually thinks he is worthy to be captain.
He isn't good enough, period. I would like to see the club buy two more centre halves.
Everyone knows if you just run at Maguire and lindelof they are easy prey.

He should have called for Ole to be fired.
But he will never do that, he’s said he wouldn’t and he’s never called for anyone to be sacked.

Ole is a human being, maybe Neville thinks it’s a little crass to call for someone’s head live on sky sports?

Normally spot on but so wide of the mark on changing managers. Just because LVG and Mourinho got the boot doesn't mean the Ole should remain. Everything has to be judged on merits

After what we watched?

Wow equal on points and tallies with Arsenal after their shit start

I genuinely believed we'd be in the mix for a title tilt this season. The midfield was always going to be the concern again, but I thought we'd have at least a mathematical chance in the run-in with the players we've got.

We're already out of the race, and we've got Man City and Chelsea coming up soon.

Neville likes to bang on that we finished 2nd last season but never mentions Jose managed that with more points + an FA Cup final.

He should have called for Ole to be fired.
Yeah, nobody likes to kick their mates but if he wants anyone to respect him as a pundit, the time has come for him to openly discuss the way forward for the club on the assumption that Ole will soon be gone.

We could get relegated to the championship and Gary would still harp on wax lyrical about "Ole needs to change something, and should be given time to do so" while turning his nose up at the likes of Conte. Really painful to listen to.

That was coming.

The only surprising thing was Liverpool taking pity on us in the second half after Pogba went.

I think they got the message loud and clear. Continue humiliating us on our own turf and you might see a few more unfortunate injuries.

Maguire and Shaw are the best comedy partnership since the Chuckle Brothers. Absolutely diabolical. Maguire AGAIN proving what an overrated, overpriced player he is and absolutely not worthy of the captain's armband.

As much as I believe we've reached the end of the line with Ole, unless we have an oven-ready manager lined up, we could end up in a worse position than we are now.

Ole saying we're too close now to quit....we're a million miles off winning the league or CL..

Crazy to think fans are applauding Ole at full time.
You mean these ones:

I would back Ole - for now.

Spurs (A) followed by City at home the week after, then Watford (A) after an international break followed by Chelsea (A) at the end of November with Arsenal at home to kick off December.

That is one hell of a fixture list to contend with, especially with the injuries and suspensions we currently have.

I don't think you can just drop a new manager in and expect him to do much with those fixtures. He's going to be up against it, especially with a demoralized group of players.

I would give him unconditional support to get us through to the end of the season and then ring the changes at the start of the summer. Set him a target of fourth place and work towards that.

Let's not go over the top with Rashford work out of football.

Look don't get me wrong it's immense what he did for school meals and whatever, but if he wanted to do that... He should have financed it and went and hired someone to do it on his behalf... And he can easily afford it.

His first priority in life should be man united.... It's only his career after all. How many of us normal people would give our left nut to be in his position in life?

I'll be surprised if Ole is not fired or resigns tomorrow. It would be poor form to fire right after a match.

I can't believe he is starting Ronaldo every match. This is just plain stupid when you have Cavani. I said after the signing Ronaldo that Ole should rotate every match with the other coming on as a sub if needed. Simple solution and I'll bet the players would have agreed.

I also can't believe Sancho has not started a EPL match at RW.

When the David, Louis, and Jose news came out I was overjoyed and simply in a feck yes mood.

When this happens tomorrow I will be :(. Sad but not, hopeful but not.

It won't feel right to have a non Utd blood manager leading us. He brought back an aura of belonging and values back to the club. Now we'll have nothing but an upheaval and mercenary environment once more.

List of players likely to be gone next year and maybe some in January:

Pogba
Cavani
Ronaldo (I think he'll go)
Martial
Mata
Lingard
Bruno (but he won't get his wish)
De Gea or Henderson
Bailly

There are worse times ahead unless the new manager hits the ground running.

I'll be honest...I'd hang my hat on Rodgers. But that won't happen.

We dont stand a chance even if we shake up midfield as we should have. We arent good enough to be so open a against Liverpool after Atalanta and Leicester and yet Ole stuck with that. He admitted that. He has to go.

He is a liability when off form or unfit, I agree. But he is brilliant when on it. Was great for England in the summer and is seen as a key player for them. I usually take no notice of people who don’t rate him but he has turned in a couple of shockers recently, I can’t deny.
