One word. Harry. Maguire.

Add Paul Pogba to that. Shit, that's four words.

And Marcus Rashford.

That's the 3 that need to feck off from this club.
All will be well after that. Trust me.

Once these three feckers are out, we're winning the treble.

Our players seem to have weights tied to their feet. They generally press and respond in a much slower fashion to most decent teams. It is almost like time seems to slow down the moment you become a United player and everything moves a few seconds slower.
Sounds like nerves to be honest...

We are downright horrible in terms of technique on the ball. Most of our players can't dribble at speed, make one touch passes or make long passes without having a clear sight at the opposite end. Until we get players who can do that or managers who can coach that we'll always go out to Spanish opposition who value the basics of football above all else.

Season is basically over now. We need to prepare heavily for the summer window as there are a lot of important decisions to be made. For once in my life, I'd like United to have a clear plan of what we want out of the transfer market and execute that strategy quickly and efficiently. I don't care if we finish 10th if Ralf can ensure that happens.

Rashford did nothing after coming on. The defeat is obviously not down to him, but really, let him go already, especially as he thinks he wants to.

Ronaldo was pretty anonymous today and played too long for me.

Sancho was poor.

Second half was just awful.

Out with a whimper, not as gutted as I’d normally be because we had absolutely no chance of winning the competition.

Maguire was the biggest robbery of the century. If there is no defender better than him in any youth category, it may be better to close them.

You show a remote bit of quality against us then we get sliced through like butter, if Atleti just kept attacking us they would have won comfortably. Losing will always hurt but I think City/Pool would get close to double figures over 2 legs so could be a blessing in disguise.

Not enough players who are intelligent enough to manage a game like this and too many players who are not technically good enough on the ball.

We played well the first half.

The conceded goal, I thought, was quite a large part down to Maguire. Because he was so out of position, Dalot had no choice but to focus on the guy in the middle. Had he been back, Dalot would have covered the wide player.

Second half we were shit no doubt. But the bullshit from the AM players and the ref was a joke.

Rashford is just so awful at the moment, I’ve never seen such bad form from someone (relative to what they can do) that makes you wonder if it’ll come back. He needs to reset otherwise he is done here. Perhaps it’s already time.

Disappointing in the end.

Not sure why people losing their shit, what was expectation here, just passing around the box with no idea, no quality, probably nervs, Ronaldo was dropping outside a box kinda a lot, he was also frustrated. Bruno QQ lord, 24/7 complaining, ref should slap him. Rashford dunno whats going on there, not gonna comment about our captain fridge.

So yea all in all, shit.

Decent first half, poor second half. Subs didn't work at all but what we had wasn't working anyway, so change was needed. All things considered we aren't anywhere near good enough for this level of competition.

Not sure where we go from here. The immediate future is looking bleak and I see no signs for optimism in the mid to long-term either.

Another shit performance. Why do we think any different? Its more of a shock to win nowadays. RR bad subs. Rashford should be dropped for a long while, not even make the bench.

Ralf obviously gave up ages ago, keeps playing Maguire, keeps playing Rashford - two players who make Chris Casper and Djemba Djemba look like multi Ballon d'or winners!

Joke manager, joke board, joke players. As mentioned above from now until end of season matches at Old Trafford should be mass protests, walk outs, game long booing - this team deserves zero support

Lost to a better team, now we don’t have to face ridicule against the better teams like Real Madrid, City, Chelsea, Liverpool and so on. Over two legs with them switched on, City could score 7-8 goals against this United-side and that would be no good. When we have a zero chance of winning the thing, might as well go out now and focus on the league. You don’t win the CL with Telles, Maguire, Dalot, Fred, McTominay et al, you just don’t.

Good first half. Shite second.

One of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen since Cakir. We lacked cutting edge but the ref played right into their hands to stop any momentum.

Horribly predictable. Excellent till the goal, played into their hands after that to a desperately disappointing degree, not helped by a bizarrely amateur referee. Never looked like doing it. Our subs have been pretty effective under Ralf, horrendous to a man tonight, Matic possibly excepted. I'm going back to bed till August.

Would have won had Jan Oblak had a smaller head.

They are the spanish champions so are a good side. But they got in our heads that second half. Too many subs by Ralf as well which made us lose the flow of the game.

Ref was a cnut but Elanga's lack of experience cost us. He should have run back instead of complaining. It works only for spanish teams. Rashford had zero impact. He is a waste of spot. I would rather play Mata over him at this point. Another year, another season without fecking trophy.:(

Striking to me how slow this Utd team is. Full backs are pedestrian, no great pace on the wings or up top. Beyond coaching and talent issues they just don't cover the ground well, and it is a real issue in defending in transition.

Utd was fantastic for about the 1st 15 minutes. Passing, moving. Eventually they slowed down to the usual passing and walking slowly. I guess it’s fitness, but you’d think they be up for the game more.

We were not good enough to break through a very well organised defence. Lots of huff and puff but no real class in the final pass.
Athletico had very few attacks but when they did go at us they carved us open so easily and looked likely to score.
poor discipline from Elanga for their goal not running back, he has to learn from that,

simeone knew we were easy to cut through and his tactics were spot on.
season over. Been a shocker.

We lack quality. Full stop. Zero service to Ronaldo. Matic was very good, the other subs were awful. Taking Bruno off didn't work at all.

We need a complete squad overhaul bar 5 or 6 players.

If we finish fifth and English team win it, do we qualify?

Decent for half an hour and then clueless thereafter. Ref was absolutely awful but if we want to win games we need to do much, much more. Hate AM as a club and can't wait until Simeone takes his band of shithousery elsewhere.

Agree with Owen Hargreaves Athletico weren't that great but done their usual spoiling tactics.
We clearly played half decent in the firet half but didn't show in the second half when we needed to show up again.
The sooner the clear out begins the better. I don't care who leaves and to how many we ship out.

In truth, the 21/22 season was over the moment Ole was awarded the contract extension. It was reasonable to have hope, but surely no one is surprised we got knocked out of the CL in March, right?

I feel like I’ve seen this performance 100 times over the past few years. Packed defence- zero idea how to break it down- done over again and again on the counter attack! Could be a Moyes, LVG, Mou or Ole team… what has gone so wrong?

We were good for about 20 minutes, which is pretty much how we’ve been for the last couple of years more or less.

Ah well, not the end of the world, saves us drawing City, Liverpool or Chelsea in the next round and getting a spanking off them . We can concentrate on trying to qualify for the Europa league or the Conference next season now.

I know we're a bit wank these days, but it's going to take awhile for me to get over that second half. It was a million miles away from being good enough. So little quality, effort and composure.
