Pogba's contract offer

DiscoMirror have been putting out bullshit stories about the managerial situation for weeks, hopefully this is another one

He plays like he's 35 now, dread to imagine what he'll be like at 33.

Very reminiscent of Rooney's last contract when it was clear the guy was already on the downward.

I really hope it's not true and that the club have decided to stop being dumb but I just don't know anymore.

The club went for ETH, who demanded to have a say on players recruitment, that includes outgoings, incomings, as well as contracts renewal, so far only Bruno signed a new deal before ETH news, and from now on, I think the club will wait for ETH arrival before renewing anyone's contract.

I suspect the new contract that was offered to Pogba last year is no longer on the table, Pogba is leaving this summer.

Don't believe it, can't believe it. Surely as shambolic as we've become, even we wouldn't be so stupid .. right ?

I used to read the Mirror, it's absolutely awful. Clickbait story after clickbait story, and ten times as many stories about United as every other club put together.

You should just dismiss any story that is 'broken' by them. One of the absolute worst sources.

He'll definitely leave.

He's not even a guaranteed starter for United any more when we are as bad as we have been at any point post-SAF.

That's not through lack of talent, that's because the club know the player has given up.

Gave Ole a permanent contract before the end of the season when he was interim, form fell off a cliff.
Gave Ole an extension when he wasn't pulling up trees, hadn't improved the side beyond adding players and still had loads of time on his contract.
Gave DDG a £375k/week contract when he is a very limited albeit good shot stopper.
Brought a 37 year old Ronaldo back to the club when we already had an ageing striker and a barely functioning team.
Bought Sancho for £70m, a highly technical, pass and move player to go in a team that probably couldn't pick a triangle out of a lineup of squares.

Thats just the most silly ones that come to mind in recent years. Yes, they 100% would give Pogba a bumper new deal.

You are also looking at this from the wrong angle. Most of the above decisions make far more sense if you come at them from a marketing and PR angle. Pogba is marketable.

It makes more sense for him to turn us down.

He can get his final big pay day, he can remain a champions league player while playing against domestic farmers and building up his highlights reel. His social media will be boosted by going to Paris or Madrid. Finally, he'll add a couple of titles to his trophy haul which'll make him seem a better player than he is.

That's assuming those clubs actually offer him anywhere near to the extortionate contract we've supposedly offered him. They might just realise he's not worth £400k a week and decide to give him a miss, meaning he has no choice but to accept our offer so him and his fat agent can still have a massive pay day.

Mbappe is probably going to leave Paris which will free up wages and I think they'll use that to offer Pogba and nice contract.

I think if Pogba was going to renew he'd have done it by now.

I'm not convinced. Its true that he doesn't particularly fancy renewing, hence why he's dragging this out as long as possible to secure the best possible deal from his next club, but if there is no next club that offers anything close to what we are, he might feel compelled to reluctantly sign with us at the 11th hour if no one comes through. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign the new contract very late into the summer.

He’s a player who has forgotten how to use his physicality. When he goes into a challenge and loses the first exchange he then dives in and gives away the freekick time and time again. He already plays like an old man who as lost his attributes.

Let him go please. There are numerous people poisoning the club. I'm pretty sure he's one of them

If Ten Hag has done his homework there is no way on this earth that Pogba signs a new contract.

Please do not give him a new contract. Such a primadonna.

They should try Ancelloti. He's always been great with big egos.
It's 100% PSG.

PSG are a free contract predator and he is arguably one of the main and well known French players.

Verrati - Pogba - Widjnaldum
Messi - Mbappe - Neymar
They will try find a manager that can manage that than letting a manager build up his own team.

That midfield won´t happen!

And Mbappé is probably leaving.

You've a lot more faith in the club than I have. How can you be so confident?

If we believe reports then Ten Hag has been requesting a certain level of control over squad management. The fact that we are close to reaching an agreement suggests that he is satisfied on that front.

For a coach like Ten Hag Pogba is either going to be a critical piece of a strategic puzzle or a player that doesn't fit at all. It seems logical that the club would not be handing out any renewal offers to him unless Ten Hag has indicated that he will be able to use Pogba in whatever system he decides to use here.

How would posters here feel if Ten Hag specifically greenlit Pogba being offered a new contract?

Surely he cannot stay, he is such an average player over a season.

Demanding 400k for what? all he does is complain that he doesn't like it, just fecking leave then.

Are there any positives in him actually staying ?
We convince Raiola to also bring over Mazraoui and Gravenberch?

Otherwise no not really. Short of him actually turning into the player we hoped he would be for us under a new manager, him signing the ting would only lead to us further exacerbating our broken wage structure, and then we'll have more years of Pogba flirting with other clubs to contend with.

I could be convinced of him staying if Ten Hag wants him.. but not for the wages mentioned, they’re absolutely ridiculous. Would completely rip apart our wage structure (even more than it already is). He’s injury prone, he’s inconsistent, his agent is a cnut, he’s 29 and he’s lazy.

I see near to no positive to him staying.

I'd lose all faith in ETH's ability to rebuild this club if he wanted Pogba to stay.

I'm just being facetious I guess.

United have let him take control of the situation through mismanagement
I dont think the control is through mismanagement. It is deliberate.
The board can still come out and let media know that the contract offer is not there. But for whatever reasons, they don't want do that. They want Pogba to keep mouthing off to the media.

Ragnicks benched him alot and subbed him off most games.

I very much doubt he's green lighted a 400k a week deal for the fraud

Stop believing the red tops

This guy needs to be let go if United has any desire to win anything.

Rangnick won’t be green lighting anything.

Is there not a little bit of you that thinks United will still go and give him a bumper new deal despite what anyone on the football side of things says. ;)

If there isn't then I question your connection to reality.

He has to go, I don't care if we lose him on a free once again, we might have lose him twice on a free but letting him leave now would be a victory for us and would show intent on part of the club. You either keep your head down, give your all for the badge or leave, as simple as that.
No player, I repeat no player is bigger than the badge on the shirt.

You never know, ETH might think he can use Pogba effectively but its simply not worth the risk of giving him a pay increase and a long term deal if there is even a remote chance he won't fit into a new system and team that ETH wants to build.

I would be tempted to just tell ETH that Pogba is gone.
