Pogba

This is the ultimate frustration with Pogba. I’ve been ready for a while to just move on from him but then you see him in the last few games and realize that he is one of the few players of the requisite quality in our squad. It’d be so interesting to see what Pogba and Bruno could do with a top class DM behind them.

I think Kante is achievable for the right price. He’s good for 2/3 years yet.

I see he’s part of a summer clear out rumour at Chelski.

A pogradox you say?

United and Chelsea aren't rivals. Even if he loves United to that degree -which I doubt anyway-, it won't be strange for him to go to Chelsea.
He also plays with two former Chelsea players that are still well regarded in London.

N’Golo Kante is the answer!!

GO GET HIM !!

Chelsea will sell…

We have enough experience of giving Chelsea good money for players who give us a decent year or so and then fall off a cliff, thanks!

Don't buy it, mate, sorry.

Despite the ongoing issues with his contract, I always felt Pobga held a certain level of respect for the club and its fanbase. I don't believe for a second he would stoop so low as to join a PL rival.
Respect? Pogba has openly touted at least 3 times that he would be open to a move away and that's 3 times that we know of. Including Raiola offering him to City which was confirmed by Guardiola as well as on the eve of an important CL game. Just because he himself doesn't say anything about his situation he has plenty of people around that will and normally it's not a positive take against the club which by definition means against the fanbase.

How about this for getting the most out of Bruno and Pogba.

DDG

Dalot Varane Meh Shaw

Mctominay Rice

Pogba

Rashford Bruno Sancho

I really feel Bruno could be effective in a false 9 role with two pace wingers on either side of him. He has excellent movement in and around the box, can play the intricate one-twos, is a classy finisher and can shoot from distance. Moving Bruno into a strikers role also opens up the CAM role for Pogba to shine. Give the latter freedom to roam, dribble, shoot and create as he sees fit and I think it will work. Put Rice in a primarily defensive role but with enough freedom to make forward runs when the opportunity presents itself. Yeah, Mctomnay is nothing special, but affording his replacement in the same window we buy Rice is asking a lot.

Tell you what, we'll revisit this if/when Pobga decides to join one of Chelsea or City in the summer. It's just conjecture at this point.

Wherever he goes next he'll absolutely destroy teams and everyone will be left asking why it didn't work out here.

Similar to Chelsea with Rudiger the best case scenario for the club is to end up paying the extortionate wages. Just take a look at what we need if Pogba stays, before even adding the cost of replacing Pogba.

Striker - potentially no senior players at all here if we finish outside the top 4 and Ronaldo leaves. (Martial away on loan) 2 players required
RW - Sancho looks better on the left and with only Rashford and Elanga capable of playing wide we need another body.
Defensive midfield - obvious hole
RB - AWB has been frozen out completely Laird will likely go back on loan again
Centre back - We're basically down to Maguire, Varane and Lindelof. Jones and Bailly are always injured

6 players with like 4 needing to be starting quality. Then add replacing Pogba on top of it and you can see the massive mess we've got ourselves in to

Dont. Fall. For. It.

He's seen the Ronaldo effect when it was touted he might sign for a Premier league competitor and thinks that will get him loads of money and new contract. Need to get used to letting him go....

Cheers

Pogba wont get a better deal than being with us. I think he will sign.
We will get one DM. McT and Fred will still be here. Garner and DvB will come back. Matic will be done.
I expect one striker to come in. Cavani, Greenwood and Ronaldo will be gone.
The club will say we have Rashford, Elanga and Shoretire.

That's it.

£400k p/w for four years would £83.2m. £500k would be £104m, and those figures are just base wages, not including the MASSIVE agent fee Raiola will be eyeing up.

We must be able to find someone who offers more than Pogba does to us for that money (inclusive of wages and transfer fee) if we're going to compete. Giving Pogba and Raiola that money only limits what we can do in the transfer market, it doesn't help us.

Trust me I'm not hurt, but look at that list ehh, you agree with it?
I don't actually think Pogba is worth 500k a week, non of our players are, I'm not a fan of Mino either, but I'm a bit concerned with letting one of our better player go....as for Pogba consistency, no one at United is consistent, only Bruno has shown genuine level of consistency over a sustained period, it a United thing not a Pogba thing.
Bellingham
De Jong
Veratti
Barrella
Ruiz
Neves
McGinn
Ward-Prowse
Haidara
Rice

Bellingham, De Jong, Neves, Barella, Tchouameni....would definitely improve us right from the start.

I like Veratti and Rice....but price would have to right for him otherwise no

McGinn and Haidara......great engine, hard worker, decent on the ball but is he a big upgrade? should be buy a guy like him instead of looking at Hannibal or Levitt or Gailbraith or Garner?

WP....no thanks

Pogba will probably go to Real Madrid. He will get a huge signing bonus for sure for his free transfer.

Any player who can dictate a game like Pogba and hit his assist numbers are going to cost north or 60m at a minimum. They are also going to want big wages and a hefty signing bonus. With all the areas we need to address its just too much outlay

I bet he'll end up extending his contract because of nobody being interested in paying him what he wants.
There is that possibility, it is the last major contract of his career. Though you have to question how much money does he need and whether he wants major trophies. If he wants trophies then moving to Madrid is a no brainer.

Pogba does not dictate at all, its been a clear problem in our games.

I've normally not really been that bothered about him leaving but we're in a serious mess right now with enough problems to sort out in the transfer market.

Which is exactly what this hard headed fanbase deserves. The fact some posters will say how bad Pogba is then shower McFred with praise for a few 10 yard passes in a backs to the wall performance is the height of the nonsensical analysis of him as a player.

He was damn good before us, has been damn good for France whilst with us yet has allen short of expectations under the management of the ghost of Jose & a manager no other EPL team will touch. If he were the bad player in 6 years I’d agree but we’ve seen he’s far from the worst problem in this squad & people won’t let their irrational views go.

Pogba in the form he’s shown since coming back is a great asset, but I’d rather we just let him go at this point. One less polarising player for us to argue over would be great.
The polarisation will happen regardless.

Personally I hope he goes and we finally move on. I can’t see Chelsea or any other PL club going in for him, especially at any where near what we’re paying him.

This latest news that Pogba opens door to PL teams actually suggest that his ask is way too high for Juventus / Real / Barca / PSG . Just think about it , even PSG did not find it reasonable.
Consider Chelsea even not willing to extend Rudiger with similar wages as Maguire and Varane , I believe they have a more rigorous wage structure to abide with , and would not offer higher wages than we do with Pogba . Same case with City and Liverpool too . If this drama is about money, I'm quite optimistic that Pogba will end up extending with us.

Pogba left a team in the UCL Final to join United who was (at the time) in the Europa league.

Yet, people here believe he'll join Chelsea.

Give him what he wants. I don’t think you realise how much we will regret this. When he came on yesterday, he proved his class for me. So important.

I hope we're just assuming he is leaving, and are making plans on that assumption.

It's a bit mad to think we could be 6-7 first team players down on the start of the season, with limited incoming transfer fees involved.

Regret what, he's permanently injured and been hugely inconsistent. United should be looking at this as an opportunity to get him off the books as he's been nothing but trouble since day one.

What did he do day 1 that was trouble?

I don't see him staying in the EPL, part of his problem is the English ABU press.
He would want to get away from that
Fixed.

See Lukaku. It is very similar to when he is here: big fee, not fit the style. However, you can feel the press doesn't make as big an issue with Chelsea as when it comes to United. They never acknowledged we paid Lukaku the market price which was a non issue, and kept using it as the stick to beat us. Then Lukaku moved 2 times since for as big a fee, his market value. And not long ago when he moved to Chelsea, you would have thought he was a complete different player by all the hype from the very same press.

So if the money is right, and Pogba wants a challenge in proving himself further in PL, it's still an option IMO. Once he's no longer an United player, the tune may change drastically.

For a kick off he insulted the club by leaving on a free transfer.

Then he returned and has given us five years of the most self indulgent football I've ever seen. He's also used his agent and the media to consistently cause problems for the clubs managers.

In my eyes it's a case of there's the door, dont let it hit you on the way out!

Giving him a new contract will just secure another four or five years of dramas the club could do without.

Despite the fact that we’ll obviously miss the qualities of an in-form Pogba, the drama around him added with the inconsistency and the fitness issues ultimately made me indifferent to his potential exit.

Insulted the club for leaving on free transfer? Are we inventing stuff to criticise him now?

The problem with him is that he's a very good player but only when he feels like it. Therefore I have no issues with him leaving. Can't stand players who only turn up when they feel like it and then goes 6 games being crap. No consistency. Only problem is losing a player like this for nothing.

So we bring him over from France, progress him through our youth system and then bring him gradually into the first team.

Not good enough for him, didn't matter the investment we put into his development. His head was turned and he left the club on a free transfer.

So yeah, I think he insulted the greatest manager that has ever lived and also the club.

Simple as that really.

The way this place lapped up Herrera running down his contract & leaving on a free, really does make this faux outrage laughable. Is it not insulting to not offering him multiple contract renewals prior to his last 9 months or is loyalty a one way street? If you’re on about his first stint then similarly, why leave his debut so late & play full backs in central midfield, he felt good enough to start & did so elsewhere.

Not sure exactly what you expect from a club employee, he’s never going to have the irrational responses of a fan such as yourself. You don’t have to make stuff up because you’re disappointed.

This club needs a reset and that includes saying goodbye to players who have been here for 6 years and we still don´t know what his position is.

He was 18 years of age, Foden didn't jump ship at City because he was getting drip fed games he respected his manager and look where he is now.

To pin point one game as a final decision to sign a long term contract is pathetic, granted I was one of the fans bemused to why he wasn't starting but he should have had more respect for his managers decision. His chances would have came under Sir Alex, he was impatient.

I don't like the Bosman ruiling full stop, that was the turning point for footballers to gain power over the clubs. The point were at now is players blackmailing clubs into huge contracts.

Young player move if they see their path to first team is blocked. We were playing Park and Rafael when we had Pogba on bench. We thought he isnt ready and he clearly didn’t agree. Went to Juventus and played 27 games in Italy and 8 games in CL. So he quite clearly made the right decision.

He is a player and not a fan. That is a distinction most here struggle to make when they talk about him. Then fit narrative that he hasnt done anything and should be binned.

How can you predict what Sir Alex would have done with him the following season?

Park was a solid reliable player so he can have no complaints about him being picked ahead of him and he obviously felt Raf had more experience for a key game in a title run.

Honestly Pogba has been one of Uniteds biggest ever mistakes, how anyone can write anything in defence of him is beyond me.
