Pogba

Building a team around Pogba is actually the worst thing you can do. He's so inconsistent & unreliable that if he's in such an influential position, the team will be as inconsistent as him.

The ideal team for Pogba is where he's a complete fringe player. Where he's not one of the team's leaders, they're a top team without him and when he has a great game it's the cherry on top of an already great team. Also, when he has a terrible game it doesn't cripple his whole team.

He's not a leader, he's not reliable so you can't have him as a key player. Unfortunately United have paid him (and paid for him) as such. So they have a problem.

Time to move him on and make him someone else's problem.

Building a system around a superstar who doesn’t always commit to pressing, doesn’t track back but can occasion win you a game. Hmm… I think we do this with a chap named Ronaldo already.
Thanks Paul, we had fun with #Pogback while it lasted that first year. The rest of the time you have done nothing but continued to bat your eyelids at the likes of Juve and Madrid whilst putting in 8 out of 10 performances maybe once every 6 months. Now you know these clubs are prioritising elsewhere, you are ready to talk extension again?
Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

They are not worth their wages tbh.

Legitimately not interested in debating what people on this forum think they’re worth in terms of wages. I simply replied to the comical assertion that we shouldn’t go for the likes of Neymar, Pogba or Griezmann because apparently they care more about fame than football, when all three are better and more successful than most people that ever played the game professionally. It’s ridiculous.

In our own team? Bruno, Ronaldo, De Gea all of them had entire campaigns were they carried the team. Though the current version of Ronaldo who is underperforming is still our top scorer.

Pogba has yet to have a single season where he puts in consistent WC performances for us for the entire 38 games. He is the more talented version of Bailly at CM. Has 4-5 amazing games. Everyone thinks he's turning a corner and turning into this amazing player. Only to be followed by 2-3 abysmal performances and then getting injured.

This is the Bailly cycle, but this is also the Pogba cycle. The sooner more fans realize this, the better for our team.
but surely you see what's wrong. 2 of them are attackers. They can play garbage and come up with a goal/assist contribution. It's not even a coincidence those two have come under criticism for their play over 90 minutes.

Second, of course Pogba can't carry a team. What kind of standard is that? Listen, if anyone says "build around pogba" I'd join you to fight them, I agree he isn't good enough for Manchester united to build around but to sell a player simply because of that makes no sense. Let's also sell Rashford, Sancho and every other high earning high profile united player who can't be built around. We are underperforming relative to other megagiants so of course any player with ambitions would want to leave. Freaking Bruno Fernandes who everyone loves is gearing up to do the same. Stay tuned for his own contract debcale. I'm not taking it personal because the club is a joke right now.

Who would you displace in Rangnick’s current 4-3-3 setup to make room for him?

Fred’s the obvious candidate I guess, and then you’d ask Bruno to do the Fred job with Pogba roaming free … I don’t know; not seeing it.
Get Bruno out.

Let him leave on a free, the guy isn’t up for it, doesn’t fit in any system it seems and is always injured.

Also, please correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve never seen him go off injured in an actual game. It’s always a behind the scenes injury which they say will keep him out for a few games, then he if off for 4 months. Comes b@ck for 8 games then the cycle repeats.

You begin to wonder if there’s not something else going on with him that necessitates keeping him out of the picture for long periods of time.

The club offered him one, the damage is done. It's whether the player does us a favour and refuses it
The club was always going to offer it, losing our £90m investment we made 5 years ago was never our preferred scenario. However it's hard to see him signing it now with just 5 months left.

isnt 400k a week ontop just more fuel on the fire? Seems now if you sign a big deal in your early 20s at this club you are here for life regardless if you are fit, suit a system or respect the club. Would other clubs do this?

Yea, well we are desperate now to keep our "asset" so it was inevitable we will offer some stupid wages. And then those stupid wages leave us in situation we are now with quite a lot of our deadwood. Players don't want to take a pay cut to leave and at the same time nobody can offer the same terms we do. So once you sign for United, you are here for life pretty much yea, unless you really push to leave and take a pay cut.

We lost out on our investment within 3years of Pogbas arrival when it became obvious he wasnt right for the club.

My words exactly. One Swallow doesnt make a Summer, but some people here seem to think in Pogbas case one good season makes a career!

I’d like to see Pogba demonstrate some kind of commitment to the club on the pitch before we hand him a massive new contract. I realize the contract is on offer right now, but how about a show of iron balls — pull the offer back until the end of the season. If he puts in a proper shift and helps us go deep in the CL and/or secure fourth place, then we can talk contract terms.
The best thing Pogba can do for the club is to leave asap.

We can let him go for free now or give him a new contract and let him go for free when that one’s up because no one is ever going to buy him at this point.

But if it’s decided to go with the latter option, my expectations for next season would be in line with what we got out of him this one.

Letting him leave on a free right now would be consistent with my proposal. If no one wants to pick up his current wages right now and if Pogba is unwilling to play for lower wages right now then he’s here through the end of the season. But what we can do right now is withdraw the current contract offer and if in June he has no suitors wetting their pants over him then we can choose to talk or not talk, but that’s a decision that can be made in June in light of how Pogba performs between now and June. If we believe he’s worth X in weekly wages then we offer X in weekly wages. We might even put in that offer, if there is even to be an offer, an expiry date of day two days. After that, the offer is withdrawn and we can go about our transfer business forthwith.

I guess United rejected these because they probably offered player swap (Rabiot or Ramsey) , but it is a sign Juventus will be back for him in the summer with a big contract if they can offload the expensive players.

What solutions do they need? He's free to go in the summer!

We don't want to take their unwanted crap thanks, we got enough of our own.

Yes I agree. It works for weaker leagues and it works in tournament football. It would also have worked better if he had a world class DM behind him which he's never had here but does with France.

I'm guessing one is likely to be a loan with a loan fee and they cover his wages.

Yeah have to agree. It could have worked out but it hasn't. He needs a team built around him and he's not good enough to justify that. And the top teams don't play that way anyhow. He won't get those wages elsewhere.

Manchester United are delighted to announce that-

That is exactly my point. Consistency means coming up with goods even when you're out of form. Unless you're prime Messi or Ronaldo, no player performs consistently 38/38.

As for criticism, even Scholes, Keane and Robson would be criticised in todays game. Unless you're putting a 10/10 performance for 90 minutes for 38 straight games, there will alaways be a section fo the fans who will criticise you.

With that being said, nowhere did I ever mention

What I did say though was that Pogba has very abysmal injury record that could rival Bailly's. He plays like Bailly as well: wildly inconsistent. As such, he doesn't warrant to be our top earner. Not even close. And the fact that no other football giant was willing to rival us, or offer more because he is a free agent kind of shows just how hyped and overrated Pogba is.

Personally I think he needs to be out the door simply because we need to restructure our wages if we're serious of becoming a well run football club again.

As for Bruno, are there any credible links that he wants to leave? His contract renewal is coming up and he is on less per week than AWB if memory serves. Now imagine what Bruno is going to demand if Pogba signs the new deal. We'll literally be shooting ourselves in the foot with this extension.

White text surely

I don't even know anymore, saying anything about Pogba's inconsistency and the antics he's been allowing his agent, add to the fact that he still hasn't signed the contract attracts a lot of Pogba fans who defend him. I'm tired. Just hope we get rid of him soon.

Value of something is how much you need that.
Is he worth 400k per week to Real or Juve? Maybe not.
But for us, he is literally whole midfield. So, 500k for his contract should be our priority. More than striker, other midfield or whoever.

I think some sort of bonus on performance basis we can offer.

We cant replace him and get CM and Striker in. He is worth 60-70m for us right now because it will take that much more to replace him.

It is almost as if he should be awarded for rest of midfielders being way below average. Pogba always has a purple patch. This is nothing new.

He is a crock. 80 games missed in 5 seasons and he is just getting older. He should not be given an extension at all. And not because he is not good enough.

Well, market doesn't work like that. We need him far more than he needs us.

Well, you know the moment he gets 500k he'll disappear again. If he stays, it should be because he wants to stay, not because we slapped 500k on the table.

Good to hear and see from the home fans for a change.

Only 2 assists back of the league lead despite missing over 2 months

One back of Salah

I really think we should try and keep him around. He's the only midfielder we have who would actually belong in the type of team we should be aiming to become (maybe Bruno depending if you class him as a midfielder). He's been wasted here because he's not the type of player who will turn us into a title winning team single handedly but for me it's not dissimilar to Ronaldo, players like him and pogba are playing on a different, better wavelength than the rest of the team. Ronaldo makes runs that no one spots, pogba has the vision to make passes that we don't really have the players to make best use of.

Even if it means a big contract, if we're serious about trying to become title challengers he's the type of player we need to hold onto, we already need to buy two midfielders in the summer, replacing pogba would likely cost an extra £60-70m minimum on top of that

He's playing well but he needs to go in the summer. And he will.

We can't have the Pogba drama hanging over us any more. Not that it's our choice whether he leaves or not.

Not sure what value this tweet adds. I am sure players do similar gestures often after winning games.

Home fans giving him a warm reception is nice to see is all, those have been far and few between in his time here
