I wonder who else we are interested in incase Pogba doesn't happen. Im pretty sure we have someone in mind that we think we can move to get a deal done quick when Pogba negotiations break down.

Bluemoon have now deleted their Pogba thread. All 33k posts and started over again.

The thread has been re-set.....a traffic issue or do the Mods know it's going to explode?
Ha, no it's just that the old thread was too big and slowing the server down. We routinely prune the largest threads.

How smalltime is that? It was open for over 3 years and now it's time for the routine cleanup..

Haha how fecking smalltime, they must be shitting their pants!

It really doesn't do much good to apply logic when Real Madrid are involved in transfers but again I can'the see the sense in this one for them. That's not cause I'm bias and I'd prefer us to sign him (although that's true as well) but there are numerous factors why this doesn't look a great idea for Madrid:

- Where does he fit in their midfield? He will be an automatic starter because of his fee so presuming they play 433 to fit as much of their midfield talent as possible who does he replace out of Casemiro, Kroos and Modric? The obvious answer would be Casemiro since Pogba is individually a far superior player but there is no way he can or should be asked to play that destructor role. So that means he either replaces one of Kroos or Modric or they move Kroos into the more defensive role. I don't think Kroos can do that Xabi-Alonso-defensive screening-tempo-setting role cause his ability to make the team tick works further up the pitch and defensviely he's not as aware as his Spanish predecessor. So they either sell one of Kroos or Modric or play a midfield 3 of all of them which has an insane amount of talent but not the best balance.

- Galactico? The fee it will take to sign him means he'd be Madrid's summer poster boy, so much so that we've heard rumours they'll have to sell to raise the capital necessary to buy him. But does Perez view him as that shiny new toy he so desperately craves every summer? This is perhaps my weakest point since I'd point to the signing of Zidane and draw parallels but there are murmurs Perez isn't that keen.

So if you ask me I can sort of understand why there isn't the media frenzy surrounding Pogba to Madrid as maybe he isn't such a big deal to them. What counts against us is the fact Zidane is manager and apparently a big fan of his fellow countryman and the lack of any really Galactico's out there to sate Perez’s appetite. I think if Madrid do become interested then we'll have lost the race. Our hopes lie on the chance we're interested (I belive we are), Juve are interested in selling (again at the prices we'd offer I expect so) and Pogba would be happy to join us (probably dependent on the level of Madrid's interest).

It's going to be one hell of a bumpy ride, strap yourselves in muppets.

when has common sense been involved with Madrid's transfer? The only time I can think in recent decades is when Jose was in charge and Perez let him make all the decisions, singing Ozil and Di Maria and Khedira and Modric and Varane--no galacticos, just quality. Since then, it's been nothing but galacticos.

Just going to leave this here, close to 33,000 posts on their pogba transfer forum thread. If he ends up at United, will be so sweet!

Good. Serves the bitter bastards right for assuming that they were the only English club with a chance of signing him. The arrogance they have when it comes to players joining them over other clubs is just nauseating. That place will be full of people trying their absolute hardest to find weaknesses in Pogba's game, to convince themselves he wouldn't have been worth the money. GUARANTEE IT. And knowing those clowns they'll also try to prove Gundogan is better

I don't know how any of you can stomach that forum. I went on it once and it's vile. The hatred and bitterness is spewing out of every orifice.

That'll be that then.

None of the Bluemoon lot are ITK ffs. Funny how Ric backtracked like feck when he said Laporte was all done, just final documents. (not all done then is it? fecknuts) Tolmie is a joke.

Not one of their ITK reports "new" rumours, they only come out with the usual ITK shite after the rumour is in the public domain. Yyyyyeh rrrriiighhhhttt

You have just described half our forum as well. And fixed it for you at the end.

They deleted all evidence of ever wanting / being able to get Pogba. Revisionism at its finest, well done Bluemoon.

This seems to have been lost amongst the excitement here - can't see this happening at all now if this is true.

I've said it all along, this is the most Madrid esqe signing ever. Not a chance they aren't getting him, don't do it to yourselves people.

I really can't see this happening, good relationship with agent or not. The only consulation of him going to Madrid is that we will drive the price up for them to pay. This is not going to happen in my opinion, he's a quality player but we need to compete on the pitch more to get this type of player. Financial power only gets you so far.

We will compete on the pitch. We got Mourinho. And if Pogba comes he can help us be that much more competitive.

Jose has more pull than any other manager in football, more than Pep I believe.

Throw in all the money we have and the fact the lad still loves Manchester, there's certainly a chance.

It's so obvious he will end up at Real :D I think they will get him for £50 million + Morata. Even if Real offers less in wages than us, I am sure Pogba will choose them. They won 2 champions league titles in last 3 years and you know this Madrid > Manchester stuff :) Would be very surprised if we get him and I am one of those who thinks that he is not worth a world record fee.

Manchester United have opened discussions with Juventus for Paul Pogba

Manchester United have opened discussions with Juventus over the possible transfer of French international and central midfielder Paul Pogba, according to today’s edition of L’Équipe.

Juventus have no intention of selling for anything less than €100m, but there seems to be some desire on the behalf of Mino Raiola to create a mini-monopoly at Manchester United this summer, and Pogba would be a crucial part of that.

The French newspaper claims that Mourinho’s plan is to play a 4-3-3 next season, with Pogba and Rooney in the centre of midfield, Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front, with Martial and Mkhitarian on either side.

It is also interestingly their understanding that Paul Pogba has always intended to return to Manchester United as part of his career plan.

However, the fact that the English side is currently not in the Champions League could affect Paul Pogba’s decision-making.

Ed Woodward is due to meet with Juventus next week for more discussions about a possible transfer and could even make the first offer for the player. Mourinho already wanted Pogba very badly last summer at Chelsea.

That remains to be seen, we haven't been competitive since fergie left. I hope Jose is a success and will get us competing again but we haven't in the last few years. Offcourse Pogba would make us more competitive and so would Neymar, doesn't mean they will come here this summer.

At 09:30 VanGaalEra posts a link to their Pogba thread, and points out it has 33,000 replies. And how embarrassing it would be for them if he ended up at United.

At 10:25 you notice they have closed their Pogba thread and restarted it.

Coincidence? I think not.

Small time clowns.

Sky Italia is a load of shit, even if this were true, it doesn't mean he will go there. Perhaps his agent is just trying to see what Madrid will offer, and compare to Utd.

I think we still have a mountain to climb to persuade him to join.

Am curious how Mourinho is going to play 2 players in the centre of a midfield 3.

Well I guess it means Roo and Pogba would be the two central midfielders and Morgan/Bastian would be the defensive midfielders shielding the back four? I don't know.

I don't know how this transfer makes sense for Madrid apart from them boosting their galactico image. If they do sign him while the have Kroos and Modric they going to have to play him in some sort of zidane role(same that he's been playing at Juve) IMO he isn't all that great playing there. While There's a lot he can do with the ball, he doesn't have some of the subtleties needed to be a star there and I think both Isco and Kovacic are better suited for the role. If they are disappointed at the two of them, I reckon they'll be even more disappointed in Pogba. I think his best position is as an 8, but they have Luka there who's probably the best 8 in the world right now.

As for us, obviously he'd be a huge upgrade in midfield. Herrera hasn't been up to much there, Rooney can be tragic there and Mou isn't about to trust Pareira with such a huge responsibility.

The price is definitely ridiculous. No way a midfielder should be going for such a fee. Even if a prime Veira was playing, he wouldn't be worth that and Pogba, as great as he is already isn't on that prime viera level.

Its such a pity that Jose didn't turn into a Ruben Loftus Cheek fanboy as then we'd probably be able to sign him for a fraction on the price that's being bandied about, and he's got just as much talent.

He will stay at Juve or go to Madrid.
Pull of a manager can be there but it's not that strong. Players and agents know that a manager can change every 1-2 years.
And for all of Jose 's supposed pulling power which world class player actually joined him at Chelsea? Fabregas and his gf wanted London. And if he had so much pull Griezmann and Koke would have been Chelsea players ages ago.
Plus I really believe if it's just between managers (which it isn't but still) then France legend Zidane will have a bigger pull to Pogba than Mourinho.

Then Chelsea 's most exciting signing in the last few years Hazard actually joined them at a time when they were managerless.

I still think this deal is possible, likely? maybe not but we have as good a chance as anyone.

Do not discount Raiola out of this. He's getting a big payout and Pogba will be getting bigger wages, according to reports.

Raiola will definitely have to meet up with Real, he wouldn't be doing his job right if he didn't. It'll all come down to money. If Real want to pay the needed figures, they will get him. If not, we will.

Papers stating 83 million pounds and we have him. I'm not goign to invest annytime into this yet unless a chair is thrown.
