Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Where would you say Pogba ranks right now (not potential) in terms of the world's best central midfielders? i.e. who is better than him right now? who is around the same level?

Once again, you have no idea what his 'desire' is. Not to add, I could argue De Gea's desire wasn't to stay in Manchester as it was reported he was still holding out for Madrid even after a very good season. So basically a player already at the club who wants to leave is more acceptable than one who isn't contracted to the club who is happy to join?

You're living in the past if you're expecting Evra's and Keane's. We are a business, we have been shite for 3 years and if were to only recruit players dying to play for us that wouldn't be changing anytime soon.

You sign players who win you football games, I couldn't give a flying feck if he hated the club, which he doesn't.

Ugh.

Neither is craziness or paranoia. Claiming either is makes you sound foolish though.
Please elaborate in what way that makes me sound foolish.

You, along with a silly amount of others, are creating your own realities of what you think is happening with Real despite a massive amount of journalists (credible ones to boot) saying we're very close to sealing the deal.

Not sure why there's so much arguing here. Anyway, the quotes from Zidane are quite clear. Madrid are still interested and expect that they might get Pogba, so dismissing the idea is silly.

It seems that Madrid have been unable to coerce the player into kicking up a fuss to get the fee reduced, and are probably still trying to get this done. I expect that if it looks like we're close to signing him they'll be forced to pay up though. I expect him to join them, partly because they will be desperate to sign someone now and partly because it's part of an ongoing theme: we spend ages chasing a big name player, reports go crazy, things appear in the media which seem to be positive signs, more waiting, Madrid/Bayern etc finally swoop and sign the player in short order. Next muppet target identified immediately....

Vidal, Iniesta, Modric, Fabregas, Kroos, Kante, De Bruyne (who can play CM along with other positions) and Veratti off the top of my head would be ahead of Pogba.

We need to create some type of new unified transfer language that all managers, agents and players must use from now on. Just to stop people coming up with all these twisted translations meaning multiple things

If it doesnt happen that will be bad enough but if we try and identify another target we will probably get wrecked on the fee. We are now the club willing to pay over £100m for a player and everybody knows it.

Matuidi would be an example, PSG would probably let him go for £25m but the minute we come calling I feel that fee would jump to atleast £35m

What a horrid post. I was happy with Evra's desire, a player who never wanted to leave. There were mercenaries back in the 90s too you know. Ask any Inter Milan fan where signing those types of characters got them. If that's the direction you want our club to take I'm afraid I'm not with you.
What a conflicted experience it must be for you as a supporter...
A goal is scored, but while you are happy you wish someone who passionately proclaims his love for United scored it.

Take a global "dream club" survey among players. The results will be tilted heavily in the favour of a maximum of 10 clubs.
Not everyone can play for these, so they make do.

This all ASSUMING that Pogba won't be passionate about United. Your assumption is based on media reports. Which are 99% BS anyway.

If Pogba signs you will love him, then one day he will leave and you will be heartbroken. Don't be afraid. It's the natural order of things.

No. Madrid haven't been fleeced every transfer since Ronaldo. Honestly, people are trying so hard to find negatives.

Like hell I will. Have you been reading my opinion on him.

The modern day fan never fails to disappoint me. It's all a business isn't it?

I think you're being generous with Fabregas, Kante and De Bruyne (as a CM), but the rest I'd go along with.

What noises? Are you lot seeing reports that I'm not? There's literally no noise from Spain. AS who are known to talk shite said a medical was cancelled, only for it to be disproven by the actual doctor cited in the report. Whilst Marca claim Madrid aren't even interested.

The only thing that has me a little worried is the Adidas advert and that's most likely some sort of marketing campaign.

I was mainly talking about Zidane's own comments rather than any newspaper report. The quotes are not of a man who has completely given up on a signing but one who has a decent chance. This worries me as it is clear Pogba would choose Madrid before us.

That won't happen though. Clubs have always known how rich we are but the only reason we'd willingly pay that money is because we know his resale potential. This would be the exception rather then the rule.

Anagrams of Pogba to United? See red:

Onto big update:
A budget option, or perhaps an aged tub option is a tabooed pig nut. Bat outdone pig and gob up antidote, because the ego button paid and Madrid adopt being out bid by the toad pigeon tub. An age doubt point to Pogba and a badge outpoint.

Now, if we read between the lines it clearly states that we will announce this deal tomorrow.
Add all the letters in tomorrow (each letter as placed in the alphabet). The total is 137.
Now add the universal prediction constant of the letter O (15) and you get 28/7.
28 July.

It's ON!
Loving the work.

Yeah, it's hard to ignore the "He is not yet a Madrid player. We cannot talk about what will happen." line :nervous:

Neither am I. But he's right to point out that the climate is somewhat different now. Players - even fairly average ones - have become brands unto themselves, being as interested (seemingly) in promoting their own persons as being part of great teams.

Still, some basic truths probably haven't changed. There's still a difference between a professional and a mercenary, for instance. The former category you can still use - even if they aren't "loyal" to the club in a Paul Scholes sense. The latter are as useless as they always were.

Yep. 100% would prefer all three of them to Pogba.

You'd prefer a 29 year-old Fabregas who's level has already dropped dramatically?

The other two are fine players (though you'd qualify that with Kante by pointing out he's only shown this for one season) but neither are direct alternatives to Pogba. Kante offers hardly any attacking threat, while De Bruyne is the opposite.

I have this sneaky feeling coming in that Madrid are going to get us back for the De Gea situation last summer and come in with a bid for Pogba out of no where.

I know they are trying hard to offload James Rodrigues issue is why is one in for him, i would have though City, Chelsea and even Arsenal would have been licking their licks at the thought of James in the PL.

Of course the climate is different. But that doesn't mean fundamental values around genuine desire and commitment should be abandoned. I really do wonder what SAF thinks of all of this.

Sounds like both clubs are negotiating and Juve is agnostic. It's all up to Pogba now and it seems he isn't about to favor us - if he did, the deal would have been sealed by now.

If this is true then we should tell the fat c*nt where to go and throw our money away at something else.

He's an unbelievable talent … BUT I have never seen anything that tells me Pogba is in the "top player in the world" bracket – surely I'd have seen that by now if the figures being quoted are true? He's also, possibly, a bit of a loose cannon and I think this price-tag will almost certainly go to his head - maybe not 100% Ballotelli-wise but enough to make us look stupid.

My advice chuck £40m at an ageing Modric and let Real have Pogba … or, just chuck €120m at Athletico for Griezmann! And we'll still have money left over for a half decent midfielder!
