Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

as far as the salary goes I think that 13m net includes the additional money we will pay him for his image rights, bonuses etc.

Why? Cuz tabloids and Manchester United transfers, thats why.

I think that Mourinho joining Utd changed everything. Not because he is a great manager but his relationship with Mina Raiola.

I don't think there is any conflict in 'priorities' and being priced out. City have a budget for transfers and buying Pogba would leave us unable to make other additions we therefore walked away.

Please, the Sheikh would pull £100m out of his ass in the time it takes to have a wank if there ever was a remote possibillity of Pogba wanting to join you.

There's also a rumour that Pogba wants to only join one of the traditional big clubs rather than one of the new money clubs.

Toure scored woldies and dragged City to the title. He also enjoyed high scoring seasons. Pogba is yet to even hit double figures in terms of goals. I don't see how he is judged to have superior technical skills. In what aspects?

In terms of Individualism, unpredictability. Pogba has an end product and if we got him, I would expect him to go up a level or two. It depends what we ask him. But Toure was much more experienced when he joined City. For me, Pogba has a bigger ceiling of potential. It would be up to us to demand it and get the best out of him. If you think about Ronaldo - the improvement curve - he went up a level at Madrid because it all seemed to click for him and they looked to him for inspiration. If we get him and if we use him right, then I would expect a better player then what he's shown at Juve. When someone potentially pays that money, it has to inspire but let's see if we get him and let's see how he settles. Fingers crossed we get him.

Is £85m or £90m really that outrageous for Pogba when Sissoko costs £35m and he's 4 years older, playing for a relegated team and much worse? In the past Sissoko would have cost £10m.

Can't believe Newcastle are about to receive £60m for Wijnaldum and Sissoko, who were both fecking shite last season and one of the main reasons behind Newcastle's relegation.

Rival fans are hilarious. City fans especially were getting giddy at the thought of signing him this summer.

As said before, Neymar aside he is the biggest young talent in world football. Clubs outside of Real and Barca don't tend to get a sniff of those sorts of players until now.

A lot of City fans have been crowing for over a year that Pogba joining was some sort of inevitability. Funny how the "priorities" have changed now he's on the verge of coming back to OT. You either got priced out or Pogba didn't fancy it are more likely scenarios.

Must go. The Bonucci thread is calling:)

Nearly crashed the server.

I can just imagine the gloating they would have done if they got him .

I just want us to wrap this transfer up so we can sit back, relax, and leave everyone else to worry about dealing with an inflated transfer market.

It's likely going to be that amount. Rooney is on £300k+, this is a world record transfer.

What needs to be factored in though is that it looks like we are buying his image rights like we did with Rooney. Our marketing team will manage his profile and we'll make money back from that and will hope to make a profit from them.

So it's probably a basic wage of around £250k-£300k + £100k for his full image rights of which, with out marketing team, we might hope to turn a profit from which we could cover some of his salary.

Yeah, this is what people fail to grasp. A club like Manchester United with our marketing machine can make money off sand in Sahara and ice cubes in the North Pole.

Woody will flog Pogba around like a 10 dollar Tijuana slapper.

It's kinda funny how we can go from so many different media outlets being all over the deal and reporting that it was all done and dusted just last night. And now there's complete radio silence. There must have been some briefing from either United, Juve or Raiola(most likely). Interesting to see if there is any truth to it. But really strange that Marotta refused any contact. Why would he do that? It's not gonna help him in regard to the Juve fans. They're just gonna think he's a liar and full of BS if they sell Pogba right after those statements. So maybe there hasn't been any?
Something is going on, and I just hope it isn't because they're trying to lure Madrid into pulling the trigger.

Every transfer goes silent for a while before it's complete. We're never going to get running commentary on a transfer, although Di Marzio came close when we signed Darmian.

All the media outlets said that it was virtually done but that nothing was signed, they never told you that it was going to happen in the next 24 hours.

It's the same trend every day to be fair. It gets towards the evening when the articles for the following days papers are being released and lots of "news" suddenly starts popping up.

It'll happen this evening too, around 8pm BST the continental journalists will start tweeting hints about what their articles will be about and the British journalists will be busy trying to decipher what is happening and pumping out their own articles which will start to appear an hour later.

How do people know by what % the deal is done by or that "it's surely happening? I'm assuming it's rubbish estimations

You're probably right, and there's no need to worry at all. But it's just a strange thing to say by Marotta if we're going to finalise it in the next couple of days anyway. But I'm aware he did something similar during the Pjanic transfer, so it's probably just because he's full of BS. But I still can't help but feel this might end up like Sneijder or Vidal.

Marotta and Morata aren't the same person.

You are correct in that £100m is nothing to the Sheikh but FFP does still exist.

New poster on the main forums here. Personally I love the fact we could possibly be getting Pogba and the fact were the most marketable team in the world makes it a lot easier to come to terms with considering the value of the transfer being around £100. However, what do you guys think about this for the future of United transfers? Of course every team know we are always willing to spend on the players we want, but does this allow teams to take the miky (yes ;)) with us in the future in terms of how much they ask for specific players?

I know the market is a terrible mess right now with Deeney being offered 30m, Sissoko potentially going for 35m, Gomes being looked at for ~50-60m. But couldn't this potentially stop United from paying decent prices in the future or do you all have faith we won't be taken advantage of. This is a world record fee we are willing to pay and clubs may recognise that as a way to play us round the block and get the extra 10-20m out of specific players. Of course it's just a shower thought but would love to hear your thoughts.

are hash's tweets banned from this thread? HE only seems to translate info for people, but i don't want to post his La Stampa tweet if he's banned.

Nah, it was a typo. As you can see in my post just above, I know it's Marotta :)

Its a bit confusing. Marotta is Juventus version of Woody, Morata is a former Juventus player who might end up at Juventus again

I also wonder how much of the evening timing of the press releases relates to Pogba's current time zone in the US. Perhaps he's involved in some of the discussions too. Or perhaps I'm just being naive and his side of things is done.
