If Pogba doesn't come after all this hype, I will gather the cafe members and we will all file a Class action suit. Nobody toys with our emotions and gets away with it.
Half the Caf would have hung themselves if he doesn't come!

Have been through too many of these transfer sagas to allow myself to indulge in hope this time... Im still sore from Hazard!!. I still fear that Madrid will appear at the last moment, they are fully capable of doing so.

That being said, it's obvious that the club have gone all in for Pogba which I'm delighted about as it shows many things

1) Mourinho has a clear plan
2) senior management are working in harmony against an agreed plan
3) Illustrates to the world that our Glazer business model is successful and robust and that we have the capacity to sign the best available players in world football.
4) clear evidence of how Woodward has quickly learnt his role whilst 'on the job'.
5) Demonstrates to all comers that the club can attract the very very best, despite being SAFLESS, residing in a cold and rainy city and temporarily not offering European champions league football.
6) Pogba is a potentially world class player and allows Mourinho to build a dynasty around him, much like SAF did with Cantona or Keane.

I don't care one iota what he costs, indeed I'll be quite amused if we do break the transfer record. Football transfer fees are relative to how much money is in the game and at a particular club, as shown is the earlier chart, so it's no big deal for a club our size...

There are still some going on about the fee? The fee is under 20% of our yearly income and we payed bigger percentage with Veron and Rio. Can we now let it go?
That would be true even if we bought James Milner for the same fee. And it would be an insane deal.

Those who question the fee generally do not question if we can afford it.

Whilst I'm fine with the fee I saw this response on facebook which I thought was quite adequate.

Do I think Pogba is worth £100m? No.
Does Jose Mourinho? Yes.
How many trophies have I won? None.
How many has Mourinho? End of conversation.
 love it.

It's not just about the fee though. How much do you think his delightful agent will want ? My guess is £20-25m. Then there are the wages at £350-400k pw at a guess.

This deal if it goes through will cost United in excess of £220m over 5 years in my opinion.

I wonder why no other clubs appear to be interested ?

Pogba is not going to be on £350-400k pw ffs. The agent/Pogba get 20% - which would be €24m.

You really think the world's most expensive player is going to be on less money than Rooney ?

We're the most marketable company in the world, more than Real and Barca etc. Therefore we can get more value out of a transfer than anyone else, therefore we can afford to spend more money than anyone else. That's why others can't/won't compete.
He won't be on £350k-400k per week though that's complete shite

£400k per week

All the reports suggest 13m Euros a year. In GBP, that's just over £200k p/w.

But yeah, just double it to make a point.
Cause the reports as 13m euros a year net and considering it would be 45% tax in the uk doubling it isn't that far off is it?

Reports suggest his net wage will be ~200k so that is around 400k gross right?

Also, it makes you wonder how much more we would have to pay to sign Neymar.

If United want to been as an elite entity, then they are going to have to be spending this kind of money to keep up, Barca and Real are happily throwing money about, the games moved that at the top. Bayern aren't exactly skimping themselves, better structured salaries, but their players mostly seem to want to move away eventually for the bigger money clearly after Basty, Kroos, endless Muller flirtation. But I doubt they'll be able to contain their core stars under 200k wages for much longer.

City clearly happy to spend, albeit have held back on the insane transfers, but still gone overboard on Raheem, 2 CB's etc. KDB looks a bargain compared to them 3.

Players don't really pay the 45% tax, there's ways around that.

Players these days set up image rights companies/investment companies. They won't be paying income tax on most of their income, they'll be paying circa 18% corporation tax.

€200m (that was his reported release clause) plus agent fees plus potentially more to buy his image rights. Wages would have been enormous.

Seriously though,

Pogba's high technical skills combined with his unique image and name are what make him marketable.

I think his ethnicity is also a factor, not many black superstars in football at the moment.
I hear you. I personally wouldn't say he has higher technical skills than Yaya, but look at the difference in their image and Persona. Yaya looks like a default character on Pro Evolution soccer, there is nothing interesting about his look. Pogba on the other hand, has gone all out.

I'd be incredibly surprised if it is net. I can't recall a time when wages have been declared as the after-tax amount. Not in the Premier League anyway.
I'd be incredibly surprised if we aren't paying him more than we paid RvP, or Rooney.

I think he does have higher technical skills but let's see IF we get him and in the years to come.

I think I've yet to see any of our opposition posters saying that Pogba is a decent player. All we've seen is everyone saying how terrible of a buy it'll be, and they are more happy with their own transfer dealings.

Love it.

This post could apply for every single record breaking transfer in the history of the game.

I've never heard of an agent earning £20m from a transfer, in fact I don't think I've even heard of an agent earning half that from a transfer.

Shame you can't read the now deleted thread (over 3000 pages) on bluemoon regarding them signing Pogba. It was littered with em wanking themselves silly at the prospect.

In fact, I remember one poster saying....while United are chasing that crock Gundogan and a over the hill Schweinsteiger, we are after world class players like Pogba.

Does this constitute "buying the league" or "distorting the market/ruining football" maybe as it is utd... "bringing the boy home" or "a good investment that demonstrates utd still have considerable allure as a top club". Ok ok, well at least let it be known it is now legal to murder any utd fan that ever accuses a City fan of the two former possible options above

 It's almost like Bluemoon don't see the difference between spending the revenue you've generated yourself as a club superpower, and spending a Middle Eastern royal families oil fortune.

Jose Mourinho tight-lipped on Paul Pogba deal

"I don't confirm and I don't deny," Mourinho told reporters at a press conference this morning. "I cannot tell you.

"I don't think it is correct to speak about players of other clubs. My directors did a fantastic work to do 75% of the job I ask them to do. I gave them a few options. We have just 25% to do until 31 August.

"We are in great conditions to have a great market. We are calm. We have three faces to fill the profile. I am confident Mr Woodward will get the player we need to get a good balance."

1. What does the part I highlighted mean!? That there are 2 other possibilities if the Pogba deal falls through.

2. He also talks about the deadline day of 31st August but clearly he won't wait that long for Pogba to make up his mind?

I've been so confident about this signing of late, but i'm just so wary of making myself as vulnerable to this only to be gutted like we have been with all the guys already mention (Vidal, Thiago etc) I would love it to be announced tomorrow, but something tells me if it is going to happen it would be next week sometime, but I don't care as long as its announced and we are not left hanging out to dry again!

Means we've signed 3 players of the 4 we wanted. Not that complicated.

£100m on Kaka and 500k a week in wages in 2009.

It lacks class and shows the person to be a bit of a dimwit when they're unable/unwilling to give an impartial view. If City or Chelsea had signed Pogba I'd have been absolutely gutted. In fact I thought City (before Real's name cropped up) would be the ones to sign him and I was dreading this summer. And laughing about them spending £100m wouldn't have made me feel any better because it's completely irrelevant how much another team spends.

Man, what I would give to read that haha.

Guardian Journo Andy Hunter: Juve looking Sissoko after Pogba to MUFC is done. It just seems to be common knowledge now that the deal is almost done

Really hope Di Marzio can shed some more light on this today.
