Oi! Nerds!

I'm getting a 50" Panasonic plasma. Something, something V10 or something.

great tv. well done.

apparently you should look up some calibration stuff when you first get it. You kind of need to ease plasmas in for the first day or so.

Word up. It's THX and all.

With a certain other company pulling out of the PDP market lately, video enthusiasts are counting on Panasonic to step up and provide high quality images in the same way that Pioneer once did: through adherence to standards, which exist for a reason. The THX mode is an absolutely fantastic step in this direction - but it's just one step. Regardless, the effectiveness of this mode is undeniable: a one-touch mode for utterly brilliant video is too much to stay mad at regardless of the other controls the TV does or does not have.

sounds good. pannys are always great screens even without that.

I thought THX calibrated the v10 version - so basically you would've have t feck about with it?

yeah i had a look and the thx mode is precalibrated so you'd do nothing. it'd only be if you could be arsed to switch modes during relevant usage that you'd need to look at it.

I've been called a nerd on the odd occassion.

Which illiterate mugs buy plasma televisions in this day and age? Oh, sorry Spoony.

But really, RGB LED is the way to go before OLEDs show up. Then its 3DTV 'til we're dead.

The colour on them is shit and looks really unnatural.

Sorry for airing my opinion on a public forum Weaste. I'll remember to consult you via PM the next time I plan on posting.

But my point stands. The colouring on LED tv's is really unnatural.

First, what is an LED TV?

Second, you do realise that the TVs you might have seen do all sorts of image processing, but I suppose that you own 10 and know how to calibrate them?

Third, you do realise that you can calibrate them in that they have all sorts of useful settings such as one that might be labelled hue or colour?

Fourth, never mind, forget it!

Surely your 1st point means the following points are invalid.

My uncle's got a 55"(i think) Samsung LED. Picture is great.

:( I want, no feck that, NEED an LCD TV... My 28" Sony has served me well but..

No no no, just no! If you're going 50 inch you should have got the Pioneer PDP or KRP. Where did you buy it from?

Aye but they're LCDs with the picture quality of a Plasma, and you get all the perks of reduced motion blur, very high response times. I.e. perfect for movies, perfect for games.

I assume you've bought the panasonic for movies only?

I've seen the top end Pioneers and they're not worth a grand+ extra. Besides I like the V10 and it's a neo PDP. Which in technical terms means. . .jah! Anyway, from what I've read LCDs are a no no above 42.
