Moyes So Far!

Its a cup game ffs
The exact reason why I'm complaining. Young did not need to play this game and neither did Rafael. Player liek Fabio and Zaha need the 90 minutes.Yet both Rafael and Young played 90 minutes. Especially a Young who has had enough chances this season whilst Zaha had none up till last night.

because he hasn't played enough? I'm not saying Young is a good or bad player but ffs, he hasn't got a love in for any of our players, he hasn't started in quite a while and we won 4 nil. So shut up complaining.
Zaha hasn't started ANY games. He needed the game time far more than Young. It's laughable that you are even attempting to refute something that obvious.

For a player who hasn't featured this season in senior football, the sport scientists would have been advising Moyes on how long to use him for. It looked like the plan was always to take him off at some stage.

Its called rotating, and so what if Zaha needs game time, its ultimately Moyes' decision and we as fans can do feck all about it. We won FOUR NIL, feck the fact young played, FOUR NIL. be happy.

Moyes photobomb

I know our wingers aren't setting the world on fire but i cant see how bringing Karel Poborsky back is the answer.

Ferdinand and Vidic at CB with Jones and Cleverley as CMs will do that with a team.

Still I thought at times we played some good football, mainly whenever Januzaj got on the ball. feck me he's good. People need to stop citing a lack of service when Rooney and Kagawa doesn't deliver from attacking midfielder roles, he just demands the ball and fecking makes them happen - with the service provided mostly by Phil Jones.

What have Vidic and Rio at the back got to do with us playing football or not?

True. I don't get the complaints. Moyes made a point earlier - last week, I think - of mentioning Zaha, stating that fielding him had been tricky so far but that he would get his chance. And now he has. You don't play him for the full ninety in his first official appearance after a couple of months without first team action, that's pretty much common sense.

As for Young, would people rather see him get a run-out in the league? He is part of the rotation, as long as he's here the only sensible thing is to keep him reasonably match fit. If the dream is to sell him in January, it makes zero sense to freeze him out completely.

Agree with Fabio, and I think that he should be our fist back up for both of our wing backs. But the Zaha situation is a bit more tricky, he hasn't played since the pre-season so it's normal that he didn't played for 90 minutes last game. Likely he will slowly get introduced to the first team, it doesn't make sense to play 90 minutes a player who hasn't played in almost 3 months.

Another thing that is annoying me about moyes is the excuse that he is still learning about our players, how can you manage in a league for seven years and not know the players of the champions in detail? Was the scouting system that shit at everton? He should have information about our players already considering he is from the same league.

Because it's different knowing players from outside and knowing them as your players. He knows a bit for those players, but that isn't the same as knowing his players.

What have Vidic and Rio at the back got to do with us playing football or not?

Are you serious?

Rio takes an absolute fecking eternity doing anything with the ball, often ending up playing a delayed pass out to the right back who's then, obviously, immediately under severe pressure.

Vidic's not as bad this season in that aspect but there's about five games between every clever pass into a midfielder in a good position for him.

They're just not, at this moment, very good ball players. Jones and Evans is miles better on the ball, particularly the latter.

So all those years with these 2 at the back have hampered our playing style? Damn them to hell.

fecking hell, Randall, don't be a tool. Read what I wrote.

I'm quite clearly talking about this season.

Haven't you got eyes? Don't you see that Vidic and Rio takes too long on the ball and that it contributes to our game being slowed down?

And in general; don't you understand that the CB's quite obviously got a fecking lot to do with playing the ball out from the back and getting our rhythm going, along with the central midfielders?

Rio has looked poor in every aspect of his game. Vidic not so much. But I am not putting the blame on either for how we are playing as an attacking unit.

Not as an attacking unit, no. Even with slow, labored build-up play we created some chances, mainly due to Januzaj and Hernandez being absolutely brilliant, and didn't look too poor. But it sure as hell contributes to us looking slower and playing boring football when none of our CB's bother playing the ball out from the back properly, don't you agree?

And as I said Vidic hasn't been as poor as Rio no, but he simply isn't a very good passer of the ball. He struggles when put under pressure and often goes for the aimless lofted ball with his left foot after painting himself into a corner. They're just so slow on the ball.

Obviously not being helped by Jones not being sure where to position himself to be available for a pass, and Cleverley's instinct to always pass the ball back and go safe - all in all I think these four had a lot to do with us at times looking labored and playing kind of boring football even while winning 4-0, as someone else complained about.

True but when he came out saying how everyone kept telling him about Chicharito's movement you felt it was either him talking bollocks or the reason we twice beat Everton 1-0 with a Chicha goal. Neither scenario paints him in a particularly good light.

That, to be fair, was utterly baffling. He played against him, he's been his manager for two months when he said that, surely you only need five minutes to see what Hernandez is about. Maybe he just worded it badly because there's no way he didn't know that.

It was always going to be tricky after Fergie, and for me the low point was the subs a fortnight ago that had us sitting on a 1-0 lead at home trying, and failing to defend it, however, there are signs of improvement, and despite everything we are 2 points behind city and within a reasonable distance of Chelsea, who will be the team to finish in front of to win the title, so whilst it could have been much better, its could have been much worse too.

The bright spot has been Adnan being given plenty of game time, and Rio's form has probably been the disappointing bit, but overall whilst I dont think Moyes can or should be excused for a lot of the things that have gone wrong, I also think that our experienced players, and we have plenty, havent stepped up to steady the ship as they should have done either. I still think we will improve during the season, quarters or semis of the CL depending on the draw, 3rd at worst in the league, and i have a feeling Moyes will go balls out for the FA cup.

For a transition season that wouldnt be too bad. I've seen plenty worse.

Its called rotating...
Sp according to you Zaha doesn't deserve to be part of rotation?

so what if Zaha needs game time..
You were the one advocating for rotation and now Zaha needing game time is irrelevant?
its ultimately Moyes' decision......
Which is exactly why I'm complaining. In case you never noticed I 'm criticizing his decision.

We won FOUR NIL.........
A factor that is totally irrelevant to the nature of my complaint.[/quote]

Zaha got almost a full 90 minutes and had faded from the game at that point. Moyes took the chance to switch things around and try a few players in different positions for the last couple of minutes. Hadn't Zaha played in the U21 game a day or two back too?

Good post. I agree with almost everything you've said. Expect I have a lot more faith in the squad to actually put a title challenge together. I really do think that we will get going and if we are in touch come Feb/March we could be in for a very exciting end to the PL. I also fancy us to surprise a few people in Europe. I just have that feeling...

We've got;

November
Fulham A
Sociadad A
Arsenal H
Cardiff A
Leverkusen A

December
Spurs A
Everton H
Newcastle H
Shakhtar H
Villa A
WestHam H
Hull A
Norwich A

Looking at the league and CL fixtures to bring us up to Christmas, you'd be hoping we can tuck the CL up before we go to Leverkusen as the Spurs game is ony a few days after it. In the League the Spurs and Arsenal are the most worrying, but Arsenal haven't really been tested and I'd hope we can turn them over at Old Trafford. If we can take 3-4 points from those two games then we should be right back in it come January. Lots of home games and apart from Spurs the aways against Fulham, Cardiff, Villa, Hull and Norwich are all winnable.

If Liverpool can take a draw from Arsenal and we can get the win away to them we'll be right back in the mix again.

They're not a bad run of fixtures, I think we can look to make some serious ground on Arsenal over the winter period.

They'll be at least 10 points ahead of us at the end of year IMO. After City game everyone expected us to close the gap and we lost against West Brom and dropped points to Southampton, struggling against Sunderland and Stoke in the other two games. I don't think we'll win more than 4 games until the end of year and I expect us to lose 2-3 too.

I told you I had that feeling...

We should be looking at 18-19 points in December.

Arsenal have:

November
Liverpool H
Dortmund A
Manchester United A
Southampton H
Marseille H
Cardiff A

December
Hull City H
Everton H
Napoli A
Manchester City A
Chelsea H
West Ham A
Newcastle A

There's no way the gap will be as big come the new year, absolutely no way.

There are 21 points to gain in December, I think we'll lose to Spurs, drop points to Everton or Newcastle at home and struggle at Hull, Norwich and Villa (I'll be happy with 5 points from these 3).

In the ten game we have to play you think we'll not win more than 4? Seriously?

We've played 8 so far, won 4 drawn 2 and lost 3, but the 2 of the 3 we lost were City and Liverpool away. We're a side improving with time and had it not been for some serious individual errors we would be 4-5 points better of.

I expect us to win 7/8 of those games and put us back in contention. This team is on the up. We'll build on a couple of come backs and a few decent performances. Players are starting to hit form and there's decent competition for almost every place in the side.

Wouldn't be surprised. We look very vulnerable atm and the individual mistakes aren't helping our cause

Fulham away is actually a key game. They have been so poor we need to roll them over comfortabably and then have another good day against Arsenal. If both of those results go our way the league table will look very very different. Ideally we cruise through the group in the CL too...

God no. 5 points from three very winnable games like that is a disaster.

People are assuming that we can go on a 6-7 match winning streak in the league, which at no point so far have we looked capable of doing.

We have Arsenal at home Rory.

I don't think we are assuming it, in my case I just have a feeling we can get it together. I really don't see a team of Champions (which is what we are) continuing to go on through the rest of the season the way we have started. Moyes is finding his feet, the team are beginning to find form and our fixture list isn't as scary as Aug through to Oct. We've reasons to be optimistic...

There's no chance we'll beat Spurs or Arsenal IMO, that's two games out of the way. Then we have plenty of away fixtures in which we're bound to look vulnerable - Hull, Norwich, Villa, Fulham won't roll over. Everton at home should be extremely tough too.

We've not had a convincing win since the start of season. I doubt we'll suddenly turn up and win 8 out of 10. 4, maybe 5 yes but not 8.
