Micro managing games…Myth?

If its true Bruno and Ronaldo decided on tweaking the tactics at half time against Atalanta, then it says it all why Ole doesnt attempt to bark any commands at the team.

£5 says at the break he pretends to go for a piss and doesn’t come out the toilets until Carrick knocks on the door to reassure him the lads have gone out for the second half

One of the games recently on Greenwood's side. Their left back had the ball in their own box. He couldn't be arsed to try to stop him. The LB passed it to midfield on their left side and went for the overlap. Greenwood just stood jogging. The same against Leicester in midfield on our left side in the Leicester half. Whoever was on our left side couldn't be arsed to stop their RB passing the ball to midfield. Pogba was in the wrong position and Matic was left in no mans land. He couldn't go to try to stop the player passing as he could see that another Leicester player was occupying his space and Matic could not leave him. Lindelof was the one who was pointing and shouting and no one bothered. One pass took out our three players in midfield and they had a clear run at our CBs. These things happens too often.
SAF would have been effing at everyone if it happens even once. Our current coaching staff just sat on their arses accepting these things. Do you think Greenwood or whoever it is would be jogging back if our coaching staff or more Ole was off his seat effing at him every time he messes things up?

The problem is we don't know it's a 1% edge. We don't know that it's any edge whatsoever or whether it's a much larger edge than that. So to say it's a weakness of the manager, well...I couldn't say that with any confidence at all. Especially considering it's not the difference between one man sitting on his arse all game with no input from himself or coaching staff versus these hyperactive coaches, it is more subtle than that.

It's really the results and performances that it comes down to, and given we don't see the vast, vast majority of what they do then we've little idea what the correlations between certain actions and great management are. You would need quite a nuanced perspective to understand what weighting is placed on certain actions.

All we can really say is the sum of what Oles team is producing at the moment isn't good enough. Tactically, physically, everything. So overall his management isn't having the effect.

We can't say anything for certainty if that's your logic so we'll have to agree to disagree. To me, it's not subtle at all. In-game/sideline management is an opportunity to do something proactive as much as anything else. Ole has not shown enough in this aspect when I compare it to every other manager in every other football match. Look at our how consistently poor we are in the first half after our initial 10-15 rush yet there are no changes in tactics or momentum until half time; we're talking about dozens and dozens of examples in three years here. Of course I'm not expecting some radical change every game but there have been plenty of times where there's been literally nothing.

The fact that his teams have not been producing in other aspects is just further indictment that he's not good enough or doesn't know how to implement whatever he says he wants.

SAF used to watch the first half from the stand. But he had players to do the shouting. Second half he was on the touch line, very hands on.

Watching the match is like the teams are playing a different sport altogether
