Surely height and strength are areas he massively excels over Fred in?
 
McT has had alot of responsibility on young shoulders for both club and country and has handled it well. If we start playing well as a team we'll see him for the talent he is. Strong in the tackle and a genuine goal threat. Fred is great at linking up play and always eager to get on the ball. He too will benefit from a settled system, he's the best South American we've ever had. Thet are both likeable characters- no nonsense professionals who are good in the dressing room. But until we get a way of playing where everyone knows their job it's impossible to say what their potential is.
 
Mctominay doesn't play in midfield for Scotland, Fred plays in midfield for Brazil.
 
McSauce a better passer than Fred? That’s a hotttt take.

Neither are particularly great passers of the football, but Fred’s definitely better especially considering his range is far, far greater than McSauce’s.

Fred also does a lot of things better than McTominay does. So yeah Fred anyday for me.
 
I used to like Scott but I don't think that's even a contest. I can see most managers favoring having Fred over Scott even with all Fred's flaws and problems. While Scott is a decent player, he doesn't add much to the team to be a permanent starter to be honest.

Cavani is better than Fred.
 
Fred a 5/10 most matches McTom 4.5/10 very little in it, although Fred has played the better most games this season...just.

He’s certainly stronger than Fred who does get outmuscled way more than you’d want from a dedicated ball-winner.
 
Fred certainly has an edge for me even for the fact that he doesn’t hide from the ball like McTominay does (unlikely consciously but most likely due to a lack of tactical nous).

McT is a better goalscorer, can contribute at set pieces and will give you more physicality, but the latter is compensated by Fred’s mobility & mentality.

I’d say that Fred is a better passer even though he’s more likely to feck up unexpectedly. Certainly a better ball-winner and a more versatile player. Neither are good enough but I’d expect Fred to be able to fit into some of good manager’s set ups while I doubt that McTominay ever will. Also, for someone who was brought through as an antithesis to Pogba’s unprofessionalism and laziness he certainly doesn’t run nearly enough.
