Manchester United 0:1 Atletico Madrid (Sat 30th July, 12:45 UK time)

Good 1st half. Fred has been excellent, definitely MOTM so far. Rashford, Martial and Malacia have also been really impressive. Dalot got into the game a bit more as it went on and he's done well defensively. Good pressing from the team in general. Elanga's been pretty terrible tbh. Bruno has also been really poor and he needs to start creating some chances. That would be my biggest criticism, that despite us generally playing very well we haven't actually created that many clear goal scoring chances, with Martial having 1 decent chance and Elanga having one really good chance set up by Rashford. I think the lack of Sancho is kind hurting us in terms of the creativity. Hopefully Eriksen will come on soon and improve this. Overall positive half though.

Just the intensity / aggression in the challenge is great to see. Not your usual, okay, let the attacker control, try to track him for a bit, let a cross in and maybe we win the second ball back.

I can see why he wants two aggressive CBs like Timber, Martinez.
And Malacia. He’s always there penning them in not letting the winger face him up. Shaw is a yard too slow when he presses - it’s why I see Malacia ousting him. Not sure I’ve ever seen Lindelof so aggressive as that half! He actually committed some fouls

It's also worth remembering we're one week further ahead in our preparation, but ETHs influence clear to see

And they have had the same manager for a decade and will have started pre-season far fitter than our guys who weren't even close to being properly fit at the end of last season.

We have a new manager trying to completely change the way we play with basically the exact same set of players that were bought to play an entirely different style of football.

I don't think we have any advantage over them at all due to being a week further into our pre-season.

Good half.

Elanga works hard and presses well causing Atletico issues but unfortunately his lack of abilities(mainly his first touch in this game) has let him down.

Bruno has had a mare of an half.

With Sancho in this half we could have been up. So far we're still very dangerous because of the way we're playing. The system we've been put in has helped us see some opportunities. Too bad Elanga and especially Bruno aren't up to it in attack today.

Even in a challenge A Madrid can't move away from their scumbag ways. If United was any bit clinical would be leading at half time.

We risk that our youngsters pick up an injury with these cnuts!

Rashford is just end product step away from being fully himself and even despite that, he's flying on that left wing.

Really good pressing and aggression in getting to the opponents. Even Lindelof is on them like a rash when the ball comes to the strikers feet.

Good signs, lots of good movement and runs off the ball.

So far quality wise, friendly. Attitude wise, very hostile between two teams.

I really enjoy watching this match.
Who thought it'd be a good idea to have a preseason against these dirty cnuts though? that's worse than putting Phil Jones to take corners.

I am predicting that if we are able to get FDJ, our first choice midfield will be Eriksen- FDJ- Fred in most games.

Atletico are such a bunch of snide, dirty, shit-housing cnuts. Here’s hoping we never have to play them again.
I swear, teams they face do well not to get red cards. Cause if I were on that pitch, I would be fecking shit up.

Did I miss the memo that we all have to pretend Bruno has been crap when he hasn’t been?

When you see the way we have been playing in pre-season then imagine a team with de jong/eriksen in the middle, martinez with his passing. There is 1 or 2 levels yet for this team to go up. As I said, I think we are in for a good surprise this season

Completely agree. This is still last years team. Im still hoping to see Martinez, a RB, Eriksen, De Jong, Sancho, Ronaldo and a RW added to this side. I honestly think we’re in for an amazing ride under ten hag over the next few years

Press Bruno with his back to goal and he will lose the ball. It happens so often

Never been convinced with Fred but he looks so good in this game, just hope he can keep it up for the season

The demise of Bruno has been sad to see. Hopefully 2nd half Atleti put out a 2nd tier team and he can get a goal or something to try and get him back in the game. Otherwise Eriksen will be benching him soon.

Bruno is playing neutered. I’d rather the Hollywood passing and shooting but people want him to tone down and keep it simple, unfortunately he has made mistakes like most this match but like everyone he has to adapt and get his confidence back like everyone else who was shit last season. Hopefully Eriksen comes on with him and we can see better link up, like whenever Mata came on. Fred has been the stand out, McTominay and his collars…Jesus if he wasn’t a tall, he’d never start a game for us.

Don't think the midfield's been lacking. I think, au contraire, that we perhaps would benefit from having a big man as a striker.

I’m one of his main critics on this forum but there is nothing to criticise here today. He is doing he job very well against very good markers. He looks sharp and aggressive, can’t ask for more from him.
He e is also working well as part of a team.

You need to stop fighting this fight. Bruno hasn't been at this club long enough for you to be this attached to him to create your own reality. The guy just isn't very good and that's OK
