Manchester United 0:1 Atletico Madrid (Sat 30th July, 12:45 UK time)

Positives:
Fred
The fullbacks
Rashford looks sharp

Negatives:
Bruno (Thank God we have Eriksen now)
Elanga isn't good enough, we really need a rw for when Sancho is injured.

Did you guys notice their press lasted just one minute. After that's its all united.

Great workout in that half, the game's being played at a good tempo by both teams and we're continuing to win the ball back and play some nice football in the final third.

Hope Eriksen and Martinez get a cameo.

The demise of Bruno has been sad to see. Hopefully 2nd half Atleti put out a 2nd tier team and he can get a goal or something to try and get him back in the game. Otherwise Eriksen will be benching him soon.

Scotty with a good first time pass through the lines in that move

Nah, didn't happen, along with all the rest of the good things he did.

Actually very similar in positioning to Donny against Villa, pushing up high when Utd have the ball the back.

Good first halve. Like the way we’re pressing. Fred has been quality and think he’ll have a great season. Atletico have got to be the dirtiest team in Europe. Can’t stand them!

First half thoughts:

- Fred Motm so far
- Malacia, Rashford, Martial are all looking good.
- Martial should of scored.
- Atletico are still cnuts in preseason.

Simeone's Madrid are fecking scum, I can't see how any professional player would want to lower themselves too whatever the feck it is they do. Mourinho shit with more running.

Diabolical

I don't think Bruno lasts long in ETH's system. He needs to come deep, knit little one twos and then move on. That's not really his game. He's closer to finisher than builder.

I really like our link-up play and fluid runs. Looks fine overall!
But what's with those heavy passes? Is that a thing they're trying to implememt but isn't there yet?
Felt like most of the attacking passes were a tad too heavy and the receiver needed 2 touches to control it.

When you see the way we have been playing in pre-season then imagine a team with de jong/eriksen in the middle, martinez with his passing. There is 1 or 2 levels yet for this team to go up. As I said, I think we are in for a good surprise this season

Atletico are such a bunch of snide, dirty, shit-housing cnuts. Here’s hoping we never have to play them again.
When it comes to a pre season friendly right before the season, hard to think of a better team to get us prepped for the season though. Give them a right scrap and see how they handle it, physically and mentally. Very pleased with it so far.

Very good performance first half. The team is clearly lacking a little technical quality in some areas - midfield and on the right, but can’t fault the attitude and approach. Elanga really isn’t good enough for me though. Sancho and De Jong would add so much to this XI.

HT: some very good play

Martial was wasteful
Fred is playing well
DDG looking a bit more comfortable with the ball at his feet
Elanga getting kicked all over the place
Bruno needs to improve
Rashford looks much better than last season
Malacia is looking good

Excellent from Fred. I like what I see from Malacia. Bruno is way off the pace. If he keeps playing like this, Eriksen is taking his place. Elanga isn't good enough. We need a new winger, because if we have any injuries, we're back to using him.

Bruno's balance seems abit off rather than not being good enough. Maybe his legs are tiring out from the gruelling fitness training.

Really good half from us. Created a few good chances, though finishing has let us down. Then we are largely controlling them, and they are having to resort to their typical dirty tactics.

Watching AM, I have to say they have to be right up their for one of the most dirty and unlikable teams. I do have to laugh any time there is a foul on one of their players, my commentator makes a comment like 'he doesn't mind see that against a team like AM, considering their style of play'

Great workout this so far, looking way more aggressive in our play, Fred especially looking really sharp.

Night and day compared to the last time we played them when we were outfought, overrun and just outclassed.

A lot of positives to take from this half. Playing on the front foot and created some very good chances. Sancho is a miss as he’s looked a completely different new player in the previous-season games.
